*I’m just exhausted. She pinched her cheeks hoping the action would revive her and chase away the weird feelings and musings. The squeezes didn’t help. A strong urge for a nap, a wonderful hour or so of undisturbed sleep, took hold.
*Yes, sleep, the man’s deep voice intoned in her mind again. Come be with me.

A Look At 'Cauldron of Tales' & Nikki Prince ( @AuthorNPrince @CauldronTales #anthology #kindle )

Today we have author Nikki Prince visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
My bio: Nikki Prince is a mother of two, who’s always had a dream to be a published author in the romance genre. Her passion lies in gaming, cooking, reading, writing, and raising her children as readers too. Her mother can now breathe easy about the child who used to get in trouble because she was hiding books everywhere and reading when it wasn’t appropriate. She loves to write Interracial romances in all genres, but wants to let everyone know to not box her in, because there is always room for growth. You can find buy links, blurbs and other information on Nikki Prince below.

What book are you going to tell us about today?
I am here to talk about the anthology Cauldron of Tales. It is a witch anthology that I am in with four other author friends and has been quite fun being a part of. There are six stories in total two done by Sonia Hightower (The Devil’s Berries & A Sappho Spell), the rest are done by me (Light of the Moon), Angelina Rain (Toy Soldier), Lorraine Nelson (Hexed Or Vexed) and Chacelyn Pierce (Past Potion).

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
It actually took me three tries to get the perfect story. I started thinking about a witch doing a seductive dance and the story, Light of the Moon, was born.

Describe the hero in five words.
Mysterious, dark, sexy, smart and fun.

Describe the heroine in five words.
Sweet, intelligent, sexy, fun and confident.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
I am bias and have to say I love Aponi and Devlin both. I think they are great fun and have wonderful chemistry.

What's your favorite line in the story?
I loved when Devlin said this to Aponi: “I am talking about you being a temptress, one who makes me want her daily. This innocent moon dance of yours. You wanted my attention and now you’ve got it. What will you do with it? That’s the question.”

A look into the anthology Cauldron of Tales...
~ Blurb ~
When five witches (Sonia Hightower, Lorraine Nelson, Chacelyn Pierce, Angelina Rain, and Nikki Prince) with wild imaginations get together, the pot boils over with trouble, romance, and sensuality.
* In The Devil’s Berries, readers are taken back to Renaissance England where Sabine, facing her last night alive, reveals how the witch really came to be associated with the broomstick. Will her nightly visitor bring her more trouble or will he give her peace?
* Cindy can’t decide if she’s Hexed Or Vexed her longtime friend, Killen. All she knows is that one second he was her very manly friend, and the next, he’s a dog. Can her Witchy Group on Facebook help her fix the mess, or will she be burdened with a comical canine companion the rest of her days?
* Willow Vance is a poor excuse for a witch, and by some stroke of luck, the six-year-old Past Potion she crafted worked. When the hexed warlock finds out about Willow's curse, he will stop at nothing for her to lift the spell. Willow can run, but does she want to?
* Alone for Halloween, Bryn is ready to take some frustrations out on her purple battery-operated toy, but she’s in for a surprise when the Toy Soldier becomes a flesh-and-blood man. Grateful to be free of his plastic curse, Byron will do anything for her...no matter how naughty.
* A dance of seduction under The Light of the Moon turns into a night of passion, but will that be enough for Aponi to keep the man of her dreams enchanted? Or will the flame that was ignited die out just as quickly as it sparked?
* Danica finds herself confused after a trip to the carnival with her best friend and coworker. She’s been attracted to Lisette for months, but are her feelings really being reciprocated, or was there A Sappho Spell cast in Madame Lilith’s tent?
~ Excerpt from Light of the Moon ~
* Aponi James knew he was watching her. She could feel his gaze on her as she danced by the light of the moon in her backyard wearing only a lavender veil. She faced what she knew to be his bedroom. The veil was see-thru in the full moon light, showing every one of her curves. It was time for him to get home from his job, and his routine was to go to his bedroom, sit on the deck with a cigar, and drink his beer. Devlin Connor was the man she wanted and the man she planned to have. She swayed her hips seductively, causing the thin netting to brush against her hardened nipples. She ran her hands along her sides with every movement, pretending it was his caress. It was time to move from friends to friends with benefits. Of course, she wanted more than that even, but baby steps.
* The best part about this was that her backyard and his backyard faced each other’s. His balcony was dark, but she could see the orange glow of his cigar, so she knew he was watching her closely. With a smile, she crooked her finger and gestured for him to come to her. Her gaze followed the orange glow as it seemed to burn brighter, and then it was gone, proof he’d put it out. The only thing she could do now was wait and see if he was coming to her or if she’d have to be brave and go to him.
* Just as soon as she thought she was going to have to go and get him, she heard her back gate open, and there stood Devlin. She stopped dancing and watched him as he approached slowly. He wore only a pair of jeans, which hung around his waist, showing the most perfectly sculpted chest she’d ever laid her eyes on.
* “Oh, no, my dear, please, continue. Don’t stop on my account.”

A #writer #SO 4 'Queen Bitch of the Callowwood Pack' by Siobhan Muir ( @SiobhanMuir @sirenbookstrand )

Today we have author Siobhan Muir visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
I’m not your ordinary romance author. My background is in paleontology, digging up dead things and identifying them with little more than lumps on teeth. For a while, I was the North American fossil fox expert. I might still be. ;)

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
Queen Bitch of the Callowwood Pack is the first in a Callowwood Pack series, but the muse hasn’t told me the other stories yet. I do know that Tawny and Zach will get their story, as well as Eloise and Kyle, but so far they’re still amorphous out there. However, Eloise’s sister’s story is coming along quite well. This is already an ebook, but it was released just this week in print.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
The Muse sent me a dream starring Russell Crowe as the hero, Jeff Lightfoot. In it, Jeff told me we had to keep our species secret from the humans at all costs, and this would be hard for me during the competition. Huh? After I woke up from the dream and wrote down a rough outline, it became clear that I’d stumbled across a pack of werewolves living in a rural Nevada town and they had strict rules when it came to leading/living in the pack. The story developed from there.

Describe the hero in five words.
Jeff is Primal, Determined, Strong, Intelligent, and Protective

Describe the heroine in five words.
Julianna is Feminine (without being girly), Persistent, Adaptable

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
I think I like Julianna most because she has to grow throughout the story. She has to learn everything on the fly and put it into practice immediately. And she never gives up on what she wants even with the obstacles seem huge. I like her growth and determination to win.

What's your favorite line in the story?
It’s actually a paragraph, but Jeff has just grabbed Julianna and she fought back. He admits to her if he’d known she was a werewolf when she was a teenager, he would have “taken her” years earlier. I love her response.
* “Taken me?” she growled, pushing to her feet. “You would’ve ‘taken’ me? You asshole, am I nothing more than a piece of tail to you? If that’s the case, go grab one of those other bitches. I’ve already experienced being treated like a piece of meat. I’m sure Brenda would submit to you willingly enough, with her tits against the floor and her ass in the air!”

A look into the story Queen Bitch of the Callowwood Pack
~ Blurb ~
Julianna Morris didn’t know werewolves existed…until she became one.
* Hiding her new identity, Julianna returns home only to find her teenage crush, Jeff Lightfoot, is the future Alpha of the Callowwood werewolf pack. She’s unexpectedly chosen as a candidate for the pack’s next Luna, the Alpha female—and Jeff’s mate. This is perfect, except Julianna knows nothing about being a werewolf, and someone’s determined to make her fail the Seven Tests of the Luna.
* Jeff Lightfoot lusted after Julianna for years, even when he thought she was human. Now she’s home and all his—if she passes the tests. She’s his True Mate and he wants no one else, but pack politics trump Mother Nature and will prevent him from choosing Julianna if she fails.
* For the future she wants, Julianna must pass the tests to become Queen Bitch of Callowwood—or watch Jeff take another woman as his mate.
~ Excerpt (Adult) ~
* The hair on the back of her neck twitched. Silver moonlight painted wide strips of light on the floor of her room, making the shadows seem deeper than usual. She took a deep breath to calm down, but it hitched as a dark shape drifted across the carpet and paused at the foot of her bed.
* Dear God, what is that and how did it get in?
* The creature stood on its hind legs and shifted shape from wolf to man with the sounds of straining muscles and cracking tendons. She inhaled in surprise and caught the scents of warm summer night and mountain streams. When he’d shifted completely, he leaned on his hands at the foot of the bed, his golden eyes blazing in the hot darkness.
* Where is the AC when you need it?
* Julianna’s heartbeat kicked up higher, but not from fear. “Jeff? What are you doing here?”
* “I came for you.” His voice rumbled deep into her breast bone and she inhaled his arousal.
* “You didn’t wear clothes?” It was an inane question, but having him naked in her bedroom had short-circuited her brain.
* “I didn’t need them tonight.” Jeff pushed onto the bed and crawled up over her body, trapping her beneath the covers. “Not for what I have planned.”
* The moonlight caressed his hard, naked muscles, and cream flooded her pussy in a delicious rush. His cock hung stiffly below his belly, the flared head pointing straight at her, and she wanted to run her tongue over the slit weeping pre-cum. She tried to pull her arms out of the bedding, but he held her still. She whimpered and writhed in an effort to free herself.
* “What’s wrong, my little Lupine?” Arousal roughened his gravelly voice. “Is there something you need?”
* “Please, Jeff, let me touch you,” she whispered, wriggling more.
* “Not just yet.” He leaned forward and nuzzled her neck and shoulder. “Ah, Julianna, you smell so damn good.”
* The sensations of his nose and breath against her skin shot pleasure straight to her core, and her nipples hardened. She moaned and arched her back, rubbing the taut nubs against the sheets as she sought relief.
* “Oh, God, Jeff. What are you doing to me?”
* “What I’ve wanted to do from the moment I saw you at the funeral.” Jeff opened his lips and stroked his tongue down her throat onto her chest. He peeled back the blankets enough to expose her breasts and sat back to look at her in the dim light. “My, my, my. You sleep naked, lovely Mate. How lucky for me.”
* Jeff grinned and the flash of his elongated canines set her Sister to growling with approval. The growl erupted from Julianna’s chest and she shifted her shoulders, making her breasts jiggle. His molten gaze riveted to her swaying nipples and his grin faded.
* “I want you, Julianna. Here. Now.”
* He dropped his head and took her lips, thrusting his tongue between them as if he had a right to be there. Her squeal of protest ended in a long moan when his taste hit her tongue. Earthy, male, and so dominant, his flavor exploded in her mouth and sent cream flooding between her nether lips.
* Julianna tilted her head to take more of his wicked tongue, wriggling harder until she worked one hand free. She speared her fingers into his shoulder-length hair and held his head where she wanted it while their tongues battled for supremacy.
* Jeff pulled away and stared at her, his chest rising and falling with each breath. The aquamarine eyes of his wolf pendant winked at her, and she imagined it nuzzling her pendant when they came together, like true Mates.
* Mates…mates, why did that thought make her nervous? Wasn’t there something about the pack she was supposed to remember? Jeff pulled more of the blankets away and licked the soft skin on the undersides of her breasts. Her thoughts splintered and scattered, but she held onto one shard of warning.
* “But Jeff, what about the pack and the tests?” she whined while her Sister barked, Are you crazy? Don’t make him stop!
* “To hell with the pack and the tests,” he said as he pulled the covers away from her mound. “You’re my Mate, chosen by the Goddess, not some political pageant. And I’ve waited for you long enough.” He buried his nose in the hair of her mons. “Oh, Goddess, your scent is fucking amazing.”
* The sensation of his beard hairs dragging against her nether lips nearly shot her into orbit, and Julianna fisted the sheets to keep from launching off the bed. When he opened his mouth and stroked his tongue over the hood of her clit, she keened an ecstatic wail as stars exploded against her eyelids. Pleasure swamped her mind and the wet heat of his mouth melted her core.
* “Oh, God, Jeff. Do that again!”

Six Sentence Sunday ~ Sneak Peek 6 at Wild West Hauntings ( #sixsunday @6_Sunday @rmsotera @evernightpub )

Coming soon (October 2012) to Evernight Publishing! Six Sentences from Wild West Hauntings

*Slow and steady she pressed on the accelerator and finished the drive to the parking area near the lodge. The large building had a stone façade that reminded her of the white and ivory, inlaid with gold and gray veins, Italian marble found in her grandmother’s New York City penthouse. Rachel shifted uneasily in her seat. She couldn’t put a finger on it, but something about the structure was off. The lodge seemed too large, appeared too new.
*There’s nothing wrong with it.

A Look At 'La Bella Isabella' by Raven McAllan ( @RavenMcAllan #FF #writer )

Today we have author Raven McAllan visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I live in Scotland, along with my husband and two cats—our children having flown the nest—surrounded by beautiful scenery, which inspires a lot of the settings in my books.
* I'm is used to sharing my life with the occasional deer, red squirrel, and lost tourist, to say nothing of the scourge of Scotland—the midge.
* As a lover of reading, I appreciate the history inside a book, and the chance to peek into the lives of those from years ago. I admit that I enjoy the research for my books almost as much as the writing; so much so, that sometimes I realize I've strayed way past the information I need to know, and not a paragraph has been added to my WIP.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
La Bella Isabella, is book one in my Regency Series Ladies Of London. Book two is The Best Man's Bridesmaid, and will be published in November. The third book, The Perfect Gift, is a Christmas story and will be published in December. They can be read in any order, but I think they'd be better read in one, two, and three.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
I was doing my usual procrastination, er research, and arranged marriages in Regency times popped up. I then started to think how a young girl might rebel, how someone older might, and La Bella was born.

Describe the hero in five words.
Book One. Harry…Swoonworthy, elegant, macho, intrigued and interested.

Describe the heroine in five words.
Amanda… Tall, feisty, clever, determined, intriguing.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
It has to be Amanda, she will settle for nothing less than she deserves. It is all or nothing, no compromise. The way she set out to see if she can have a good life is funny and romantic.

What's your favorite line in the story?
There are quite a few, but, said by Harry… ‘Anticipation was almost as satisfying as the actual event...almost.’

A look into the story La Bella Isabella
~ Blurb ~
* When your life is all arranged for you, there's only one thing to do—enjoy yourself while you can.
* When Amanda finds out whom her parents have chosen for her to marry, it puts her into despair. The one man occupying her dreams is to be hers in name only. Determined to enjoy life before it's all too late, La Bella Isabella and Her Dancing Girls is formed.
* The beautiful girl he keeps meeting by accident intrigues Harry. There is something familiar about her...he just cannot place.
* A private performance by La Bella Isabella provides a little knowledge, but is a little knowledge a dangerous thing?
~ Excerpt ~
* The snow was beginning to fall faster, and there were no cabs to be seen.
* "Bloody hell, I'll be too cold to warm anyone up at this rate," he muttered as he slid through the thickening snow, his footsteps muffled by its depth. "My prick will be so shriveled up, it'll take a week to be normal again. Even with help."
* So engrossed in keeping warm and muttering to himself, he heard nothing until a snort and a jangle of harness immediately behind him almost made him loose his footing.
* A black carriage had drawn level.
* "My lord," said a soft voice from inside, "this snow is getting thicker, and walking must be hazardous. As I trust there are no dogs out and about, I believe it is safer traveling in a carriage. May I give you a lift anywhere?"
* He recognized that voice. So did his body. No, not a week, after all. He felt light-headed and somewhat giddy. Not even a minute.
* "That would be kind...miss? Lady?"
* She laughed. "Yes, wouldn't it. Now, if you wish, get in and tell my coachman where you are heading."
* "Smithson Gardens," he said to the coachman, knowing that was near enough to his destination without revealing exactly where he was heading. He opened the door and swung inside, shutting it quickly after him to keep as much snow out as possible. The occupant was cloaked in dark velvet, a hood covering most of her face. She showed no inclination toward removing the hood.
* "I do hope I'm not taking you out of your way," he remarked urbanely. "For I believe on our earlier meeting, you were heading in the opposite direction.
* "I was, wasn't I, my lord? But as you see, now I am heading in this direction. And indeed, you will not take me out of my way."
* Harry sat back against the squabs. It was definitely his damsel in distress. And she obviously felt secure enough to invite him into her carriage even though she had no companion. But who was she? Obviously quality, but surely no lady of quality who valued her reputation would be in a carriage without a companion, let alone would invite a gentleman to share it with her. "I feel you have the better of me. You know me, but do I know you?"
* Again, that musical laugh.
* "You feel so, my lord? I wonder why? Because I call you 'my lord'? Are you a lord?"
* "I am. As to why? I thought I did feel so, perhaps I will feel so again." Such gentle innuendo, but realized—and judging by the brief laugh he heard—appreciated. "Are you a lady?"
* She considered. "Well, I am female, so that makes me a lady. Am I a lady? One of life's mysteries, my lord."
* Harry moved slightly, so his thigh rested against her cloak. "I love a mystery."
* "Oh, so do I."
* The coach came to a halt. "I believe we have reached Smithson Gardens, my lord. Are you sure you do not want to be taken all the way to your destination? We wouldn't want you to catch a chill and be unable to...shall we say...help Lady Mellissa, would we?"
* The minx! So she did know who he was! And about his involvement with Mellissa, something he was sure very few people were aware of.

A Tuesday #shoutout 'The Soul Within' by Nancy Adams ( @GoddessFish )

Today I'd like to welcome, Nancy Adams. She's here to share information on her book The Soul Within.

A bit about Nancy...
Nancy’s addiction for a good trash novel began in her late-teens when her grandmother gave her a bag of Harlequin Romance books. She was hooked and spent the next few years lurking in the dark corners of used bookstores searching for her next fix. Until, one marriage and two kids later, her own ideas had her jumping up at 3 am (much to her husband’s annoyance) and typing them into her laptop. Beside her husband and children, Nancy has three passions, rearranging furniture, buying bed linens and, of course, writing. Nancy lives in Eastern Ontario with her family and two over sized lap dogs.

~ Blurb ~
* Alex’s body is in a coma. His soul, however, is not. Desperate to become whole, he must first convince stubborn beauty Evening Sinclair that he is not dead.
* For generations, the Sinclairs have been healers. Using a gentle touch to heal the body and a soothing word to heal the soul, Evening Sinclair is no different. Yet despite her secret abilities, Eve has a somewhat normal existence. She enjoys her small physiotherapy practice, dotes on her eight-year-old daughter and occasionally helps souls get back into their bodies-that is until Alex, with his brooding good looks and glowing eyes, appears in her kitchen.
* Alex is desperate to get back into his body-two innocent lives depend on it. His only obstacle is Eve and her stubborn fear. Unfortunately for Eve, Alex is ruthless and just as stubborn. He will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He will not 'go away' and no matter how much Eve tortures him with her lush body and perfect mouth, he will not change his mind. Eve will merge him, and if it takes him haunting her day and night, she will merge him back with a body-any body.

~ Excerpt ~
* “I can feel you touch me.” Alex raised his head, a half smile on his face.
* Her eyes met his. “You do?”
* He nodded. “Again.”
* This time, she started at his shoulders and ran her hands down the entire length of his arms to his hands, where she made an attempt to clasp them in her own.
* “How are you doing this?”
* “I don’t know? How can you feel me?”
* He chuckled. “I don’t know?”
* Staring down at their hands she asked. “What do you feel?”
* “It’s like when your foot falls asleep and you get that ‘pins and needles’ sensation, mixed with a warm tingling.”
* Eve met Alex’s stare. “You’re really not dead.”
* He studied her intently. “Is that why you won’t help me, because you think I’m dead?”
* Embarrassed, she turned away. “I thought you might be and that you were having trouble…moving on.”
* “Moving on?” he repeated. She heard him exhale in a huff but didn’t want to face him yet. “Eve?” He used her name to get her attention but she didn’t budge. “Evening.” This time her name was said with more force.
* Her cheeks were warm when she faced him. She expected him to be annoyed but he only showed concern. “Do you see the dead too?”
* “No. Never, just medians. My mother did, I thought maybe it had started for me too. It was the only explanation I could come up with as to why you were still hanging around me.” Her throat felt like it was beginning to close up with the thought of it, but she asked him anyway. “Have you seen…them…out there?”

Six Sentence Sunday ~ Sneak Peek 5 at Wild West Hauntings ( #sixsunday @6_Sunday @rmsotera @evernightpub )

Coming soon (October 2012) to Evernight Publishing! Six Sentences from Wild West Hauntings

... Yet concerns about harnesses and saddle soap, feeding livestock, shoeing horses, making sure there was food on the table, and protection of all she held dear whirred in her mind. A longing for a different lifestyle welled within her—a way of life where she’d work hard off the land and fall into bed at the end of the day feeling a true sense of accomplishment. The desire to toss her smartphone out the window, not worry about keeping up with the Jonses, and go back to a simple way of living grew.
*Simplistic living. Wishful thinking that, a male voice whispered in her mind.
*Rachel brushed off the masculine stated comments, telling herself they were only thoughts from her own subconscious manifesting in a way that she’d find agreeable.

Welcome special guest: author Kacey Hammell ( @kaceyhammell @decadentpub #followfriday #FF )

Today we have author Kacey Hammell visiting. Canadian author, Kacey Hammell is a multi-published erotic romance author who writes mainly in the Contemporary Erotic /Romantic Suspense genres. She is a true romantic at heart.

So, Kacey, what inspired you to become a writer?
After many years as an online reviewer, my husband encouraged me to try my hand at writing. After a lot of coaxing and an interesting dream from my first hero, I took the plunge and haven’t looked back since!

When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
My first story was actually about six years ago. I wrote Illusions in about eight months, and it’s since been re-released with new name/publisher/extensive re-writes.

How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
Illusions was the first story I wrote and sold.

What genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What’s your favorite genre of all to write in?
Contemporary Erotic Romance, Romantic Suspense. I’ve always loved these genres. Some of my personal fave authors write in these genres and I will always read this type of story before looking at any others.

What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
Best piece of advice… “No better way to promo than with the next release. Just keep writing.” There is no bad piece of advice I’ve received.

How do you celebrate/deal with acceptance/rejection letters?
Whether accepted/rejected, I write my CPs, author friends closest to me and go over the feedback (if any) and go from there. I personally feel that there’s no point in getting upset or irate over a rejection when I could just be focusing on my next step or revising or the next story.

In regard to the book you’re promoting, which actor and actress do you envision playing the roles of your hero and heroine? If there’s a villain or other characters who are pertinent to the story, who would play those parts?
Oooh, great question. I see Sandra Bullock playing Alicia, and Alex O’Laughlin playing Cole. Wouldn’t those two in a movie together just be hot! LOL My villain, Roy, oh would have to be played by Mickey Rourke. Roy is just that kind of character that needs someone dark and evil, and Mickey always gives me that vibe.

The book you’re promoting, is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? If it’s part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.
Awakenings is book 2 in my “In the Arms of the Law” series. In book one, Alicia endures a hellish experience and this is the aftermath of how she’s dealt/dealing with it … and not in good ways! Readers should read book 1: Illusions before Awakenings but it’s not a must.
* Series reading order:
* Illusions
* Awakenings
* Tied Down – releases Today, Sept 14!!
* Wild Thunder – releases Oct 2nd

*** Now for some fun info… ***
What’s your favorite color?
Red

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Mint chocolate chip

Are you a cat, dog or both kind of person?
Both – we have a Cockapoo pup named Peaches and a Cat named Lily. Plus a bird named Dino! LOL

Would you/have you own(ed) a snake or some other exotic pet?
OMG NO…no snakes whatsoever. So afraid of them, even a baby snake, forget it. I’d run like Forrest Gump. No, no way. My one recurring nightmare, as a kid and now, is being smothered by a snake. *shivers* Nothing that slithers for sure. Exotic pets aren’t for me.

Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?
I like fall. Cool breezes without the intense heat and humidity or the cold, icy winds of winter. I’m a Canadian girl and I hate winter. I was born in a car, in a ditch in the middle of a snowstorm…’nuff said!

Are you a morning person or night owl?
Night owl.

What’s your favorite day of the week?
Wednesdays. Mid-week, knowing the roughest part of the week is over and looking forward to the weekend!

What’s your favorite number?
17

If you could live anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?
Ireland. My grandfather’s family was born there, and I’ve always wanted to go. I’m not much of a traveller, can’t bear to think of ever leaving where I am now, but Ireland would be tempting to live forever.

If you were stranded on a desert island and were only allowed to have five modern conveniences with you, what would they be?
Lighter, water, hairbrush, umbrella and sunscreen. I’m a red head, I need the umbrella and sunscreen to protect me from looking like a lobster.

*** About Kacey’s book/series… ***
Awakenings was a difficult book to write. Alicia was hard to get a handle on. I wanted her to go one way but she was stubborn and fought me every step of the way. She and I have a love/like relationship. She really put me through the wringer.
AWAKENINGS ~ In the Arms of the Law, Book 2

* She turned around. Their chests brushed, and she gave him a half-smile. “I know Hannah might not blame me, but I do. A few more moments, it’s all we would have needed. I’d change it if I could.” When Cole opened his mouth, she placed her fingers on his lips to silence him. “I can’t, but I vow to do whatever it takes to catch this son-of-a-bitch.”
* Alicia tried to convey the sincerity of her promise as she stared into his eyes. For Hannah, and this man, she’d do whatever she could to bring peace to their family once more.
* “I know you would. But you can’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. We’ll get him.” He raised his hand to her cheek and pushed back a strand of hair that had fallen over her face. Her breath quickened at the light touch. Her body stilled.
* The air crackled with electricity. She was sure he could feel it, too; the tension rolled off his body like waves in the ocean. To walk away would be the best thing to do, but for the life of her, Alicia couldn’t get her feet to move.
* “You know what, Ali?” His voice was soft and powerfully seductive. “You know what I remember most about our night together?”
* Alicia’s hand clasped his wrist, below where his fingers rested lightly on her cheek. She wanted to fall into his arms, burn beneath his touch again. They’d never talked about it and she was curious to know what he remembered.
* She remembered it all.
* Every touch and sigh. Every kiss and pleasure she basked in.
* Through many a cold and lonely night, she cherished the memories of Cole’s hard body pressed against hers, pushing her against the mattress—and the wall and the bathroom counter—but she marveled at how he’d made her feel like more of a woman in one night than she’d felt in all her adult years.
* Her voice hoarse and scratchy, she whispered, “What do you remember?”
* “Our fire.”
* When his mouth claimed hers, her body ignited with long-repressed emotions. Hunger, mind-blowing hunger, rattled through her. It was so hard to breathe.

Look what's coming soon! ( @evernightpub @rmsotera #writing )

RM Sotera and I wanted to share the cover we've received for our next release Wild West Hauntings!

Isn't it awesome?
* The ranch is hopping big time in this story. There are hauntings by a randy ghost and a nasty poltergeist. A soon-to-be shaman helps to fight the evil. Continuing love. New love. Love on the rocks. The characters are again in for a wild time!
* I've been sharing snippets from the book on Sundays for Six Sentence Sunday so if you want some sneak peeks into their world, check out those posts at C.R. Moss Blog.
Here's the blurb to whet your whistle.
* In life and the afterlife, on the Double D Ranch one belief holds true—the power of love changes lives.
* With cowboys, ghosts, modern day women, hot dreams, pre-wedding relations and a bit of sexy time travel, life promises to be one wild time on the ranch again.
* Rachel Star has met the man of her dreams … literally. Too bad he’s a ghost. When true love crosses boundaries from dreams to reality and across time, the Double D ranch is the place it happens. It takes the love of a man from the past, Dalton Dougan, to bring love full circle in the present for Rachel.
* Bristol Ashcombe, soon to be Dougan, is ready to have her baby … and so is a poltergeist. Can the love of a woman for her man and child sustain her during the most horrible of terrors? Can the love between family and friends really dispel the evil haunting them?
Wild West Hauntings—Double D Ranch Tales (Book 2), a contemporary, paranormal, erotic romance story is set in Nevada and is slated for release at the end of October through Evernight Publishing.

Welcome special guest: author Misty Burke ( @evernightpub #shoutout #writing #writer )

Today we have author Misty Burke visiting. Welcome!
* Hi everyone! My name is Misty Burke and I’m so happy to be visiting with you today. In fact, I’d love to take a minute and tell you a little more about myself and my newest release – The Midnight Cup.
* I'm a romance author, professional editor, and poet.
* I live in the Romantic Ozark Mountains with my supportive husband and our four wonderful children. When I'm not enjoying family time, I love to write steamy romances. Creating exciting fantasy worlds filled with dangerously handsome heroes is one of my passions.
* My favorite writing quote is ... The best time for planning a book is while you're doing the dishes. ~Agatha Christie
* My favorite editing quote is ... Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. ~ Anton Chekhov

So, Misty, what genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What’s your favorite genre of all to write in?
I love all kinds of romance! There is just something about that irresistible bad-boy… that ruggedly handsome hero… **sigh** Who could possibly resist?! So it’s fair to say that I love to write in several different sub-genres of romance. My personal favorite is Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance. (But I did love writing my contemporaries and my steampunk romance. So it kinda feels like I’m “cheating on them” just saying that. LOL).

What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
The best advice was to keep writing no matter what, write for yourself not others, etc. The worst advice was from someone insisting I write more “literary” and to avoid the romance genre.

How do you celebrate/deal with acceptance/rejection letters?
Well I have a fabulous hubby who happens to be very supportive … he takes me out to our special restaurant when I get the news (whether it’s an acceptance or a rejection). Gotta love him!

The book you’re promoting, is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? If it’s part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.
The Midnight Cup is currently a stand-alone. However, I did love the heroine’s twin sister and I’m thinking about telling her story next.

*** Now for some fun info… ***
What’s your favorite color?

Cold weather (I love snow!)

Night Owl

*** About Misty’s book The Midnight Cup… ***
~ Blurb ~
* The Midnight Cup is a story that follows the romance between a white witch and her man … turned slayer … turned vampire … turned soul mate.
* Marcus McKinney is a trained member of the Society and a vampire slayer. With an ancient hieroglyphic tattoo to ward off his own personal demons, he travels to a small college town in the Midwest. It is here that he finds The Midnight Cup. A quaint coffee house with a backroom filled with vampires.
* The owner of this little establishment is Serenity Baker and she’s a Natural. With her long blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, she’s a beautiful white witch that offers light magic with a simple touch. It is this power that draws the coven of vampires to her small coffee shop which in turn brings Marcus into her life.
* The Midnight Cup tells their story amidst a brewing war. With a circle of witches, a coven of vampires, and a league of Society members, who knows what could happen next.

~ Excerpt ~
* Standing in the moonlight, he watched the neon sign blink in the window of the coffee house across the street. College kids came and went around him. Yet none seemed to notice his presence. The stranger had spent years learning to blend into the shadows.
* The night hours slowly passed. It wasn’t until he could feel the coming dawn that he strode across the street and walked inside. Only a few students were left as he took a seat at a corner table. He was keenly aware that the backroom was now empty and this fact pleased the woman behind the counter.
* Oddly though, she hadn’t stopped staring at him since he entered. The delicate beauty could somehow see through his shades of practiced darkness and it unnerved him. The tattoo that circled his left bicep felt like it tightened.
* They locked eyes as she approached. “What are you?” She leaned in and pretended to wipe down his table.
* “I was just wondering the same thing about you.” She reminded him of a skittish foal. He reached out to touch her hand and she jerked back.
* “Is that why you’re here?” Looking hurt, then angry, she motioned to the door. “Get out.”
* “You’ve got this all wrong.” The stranger shook his head in confusion and then pointed toward the red curtain. “I’m here to help you with your little…problem.”
* She froze and gave him a long, hard look. “I’ll ask you again. What are you?”
* He pulled a large wooden stake out of his trench coat and laid it on the table. “I’m a slayer.”
* She sat down at his table and spoke with soft, hesitant words. “Are you part of the Society?”
* The question hung in the air as he watched tiny sparkles of gold dance in her light blue eyes. Unknowingly, he reached for her again. The jolt of electricity that followed caused him to take in a quick breath of air. The surge was sudden and left warmth. Staring down at their point of contact, his large hand covering hers, he smiled in awe. “I’m Marcus McKinney. And yes, I’m with the Society.”
* “Then you know I’m a natural,” she paused only a moment, “don’t you?”
* The glowing warmth evaporated as quickly as it had arrived. In one fluid motion, he disconnected from her and picked up the stake. Damn it, Josh. This was not in your report. He hid the weapon back in the folds of his trench coat and questioned his next move. There wasn’t supposed to be any other paranormal element. The Society might care, but his fight was only with the vampires. This white witch was not his problem.
* The woman across from him looked so innocent. “Whatever it is that causes your heart to darken…”
* The slayer pushed back his chair and stood. “Let’s get this straight. I’ve no interest in your natural magic or your pity. My assignment is only the coven of vampires you harbor. Don’t get in my way.”
****

* Serenity didn’t have to watch him leave. She could feel it. This slayer, with his curly brown hair and eyes the color of dark chocolate, had an aura she hadn’t experienced before. It was more complex and torn than the simplicity of a human. Yet it didn’t have the vast emptiness of the vampire either. His soul was different, unique, hidden in shadow. Marcus McKinney was circled with a deep fog. There were layers to this man she just couldn’t see and that intrigued her.
* In fact, she couldn’t think of much else as she closed up the coffee shop. Even after saying goodbye to her staff and locking the doors, she couldn’t get him out of her mind. It was clear to her that his fight with Ivan’s clan was personal. For he might be shaped like a slayer, with years of physical training, but there was more to him than that. Marcus wasn’t just another Society drone. He couldn’t be.
