A Look At Stephanie Berget & 'Sugarwater Ranch' ( @StephanieBerget @evernightpub #MM )

Today we have author Stephanie Berget visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Stephanie Berget was born loving horses and found her way to rodeo when she married her own, hot cowboy. She and her husband traveled throughout the Northwest while she ran barrels and her cowboy rode bucking horses. She started writing to put a realistic view of rodeo and ranching into western romance. Stephanie and her husband live on a farm, located along the Oregon/Idaho border. They raise hay, horses and cattle, with the help of Dizzy Dottie, the Border Collie and Big Al, team roping horse extraordinaire.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Sugarwater Ranch. It’s the first in my Salt Creek Cowboys series.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* In the first story I ever wrote, the heroine’s brother had a bit part. He was a party animal and caused her no small amount of trouble. Sean intrigued me and made me laugh. I wanted to see what his story was, and if there was any way he could redeem himself.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Fun-loving, determined, reckless, authentic, straight-forward

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Reliable, kind, family-oriented, honest, conservative

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* My favorite character is Sean. He’s tough, parties a little too much (or a lot too much) and thinks he was put on this earth to ride bulls. He’s got his life all figured out until he meets Catherine. However, Junior, Catherine’s cousin comes in a close second. He’s not very book smart, but he’s got a second sense about people and sees things others don’t.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* There, in the buff, was one of the nicest butts she'd ever had the privilege of ogling.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Sean O’Connell’s life is perfect, or it was until his partying lifestyle affected his bull riding. Now he’s ended the season too broke to leave the Northwest for the warm southern rodeos. When a wild night with his buddies gets out of hand, he wakes up naked, staring into the angry eyes of a strange woman. His infallible O’Connell charm gets him nowhere with the dark-haired beauty. It’s obvious she’s not his usual good-time girl, so why can’t he forget her?
* Bar-manager Catherine Silvera finds a waterlogged, unconscious cowboy freezing to death in front of the Sugarwater Bar. She saves his life--then runs faster than a jackrabbit with a coyote on its tail. Any man who makes his living rodeoing is bad news, especially if he thinks partying is part of the competition. He’s everything she doesn’t want in a man, so why can’t she shake her attraction to the rugged cowboy?

~ Excerpt ~
* Catherine glanced at him. “You’re nice people. You just hide it well.” The giggle burst out of her.
* Sean had never heard her giggle. She didn’t seem like the giggling type of woman. Then he realized what she’d said.
* “I hide it well? And I suppose you can see right through me to the warm chocolaty core?” She giggled again then laughed outright. And laughter looked very good on Catherine Silvera.
* “Chocolaty core. Good description. I just need to lick through the hard sugar shell.”
* Oh hell, the mental image just about blew him out of his boots. He grabbed her and pulled her between the buildings to a private spot.
* “So you’re going to lick through the sugar shell?” It was his turn to laugh as he watched the blush spread up her neck and across her cheeks.
* “I didn’t mean... You dirty-minded old man.” Even though she was blushing, she smiled.
* “You’d better get started if you want to get to the chocolate tonight.” His mouth closed on hers. She pressed against him and slipped her tongue into his mouth. She’s taking me seriously was his last thought before his brain scrambled.

A Look At Angelina Rain & 'His Guardian Witch' ( @AngelinaRain85 @evernightpub #FF #SO )

Today we have author Angelina Rain visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Hello! My name is Angelina Rain and I'm a chocolate and coffee-holic. I write short erotic stories, although the book I'll be talking about today is more romantic and less erotic compared to most of the things I've published.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Today I'll be talking about my newest release His Guardian Witch. It's a stand-alone short story about magic spells and soul mate connections.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I've always enjoyed witches. They are my favorite out of all the paranormal character types, and I feel like there are not enough witch books out there. I started writing this story mainly because the heroine is a witch.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Unlucky, sexy, good-natured, loving, and honest.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Wicked, fun-loving, generous, helpful, and powerful.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Morgan. When writing, I always tend to connect more to the heroine than the hero. The heroine in this story is strong, independent, successful. She is everything many women want to be.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* I don't have a favorite line, but this is a snippet from one of my favorite scenes: Instantly, there was nothing left. Just her, alone, dying, or maybe living. She didn't know. Didn't know if the spell worked. Didn't know if this were life or hell.
* When her eyes opened, she was in her own bed, staring at the ceiling. Only the memories of a phantom man remained, a man with no name, yet her body craved his touch.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Is love stronger than magic?
* Morgan has never encountered a spell she couldn’t cast or a curse she couldn’t break. With her natural knack for witchcraft, she runs a magic store that helps others. When a handsome but cursed man walks into her store, she is pit against magic stronger than her own.
* Daniel lived an ordinary life before he ended up on a witch’s bad side and was jinxed with non-stop bad luck. Out of sheer desperation he visits Morgan’s Magic Shop. Morgan agrees to help him and they must work together to find the witch and pinpoint the hex she used in order to undo it. As they search, feelings ignite and a romance blossoms. Will this bad luck spell end their love, or will their love be strong enough to break the incantation?
***Be Warned: sex toys***

~ Excerpt ~
* His lustful gaze met hers. Lust that matched her own and her heart pulsed fast inside her chest. Her center grew damp, and she longed for his touch.
* "I think your thoughts were similar to mine."
* She didn't reply to Daniel's statement. Instead, Morgan tried to stand. Her knees grew weak as she rose to her feet.
* Daniel stood, too. "You can't deny you were thinking about it, too."
* "I wasn't denying anything."
* He crossed to her and wrapped his arms around her back. Warmth filtered through her, and Morgan felt herself blush. When he spoke, his breath tickled her skin. "I was thinking about how good it would be to lay you down in my bed."
* "You don't have a bed. It was stolen."
* His chuckling made her wetter. There was something so sexy about his voice. "The floor, then." Daniel pulled her closer to himself until she rubbed against him. His hard cock pressed into her navel, and she tilted her head upward to meet his gaze. His lips brushed hers. The kiss started tender and slow. She opened her mouth to invite him inside.
* She lay on the floor, his body pressing into hers. His hands touched her sides, slipping under her shirt. His lips left hers and instead kissed her neck. He found her breasts, rubbing his palms over her nipples. Only the thin lace of her bra separated her flesh from his.
* Morgan moaned. The need inside her multiplied, and she wanted to touch him, feel him, taste him. She flipped him over until she was on top and he on the bottom. She raked her fingertips over his chest and abs, feeling the hard muscle beneath the black t-shirt. But feeling and seeing were two different things, and she wanted to see. Taking the hem of his shirt, she raised it until his smooth and taut skin lay open for her to feast on. She ran her tongue over the ridges of his six-pack.
* Daniel inhaled sharply, and she smiled as she kissed him right below the belly button. Morgan glanced at the trail of hair leading to somewhere below his pants. She undid the button, her hands on the zipper.
* "Is this supposed to happen?"
* She tried to glance at his face, but who was she kidding? The hardness in his pants was more appealing. "You mean the hard-on. It means you're excited. It's totally natural."
* Morgan met his eye, and he shook his head. His gaze moved somewhere beside and beyond her. "No, I mean is the candle supposed to fly?"
* "Shit!" Morgan pushed away from Daniel. She watched, bewildered, as black and dark blue winds danced around the room. The candle was high off the floor.
* "I'm guessing something is wrong."
* "Very wrong."
* The flame didn't go out despite the sudden winds in the room. It rose, high and strong and fierce. Then the wind died quickly. The candle dropped to the floor. Flames danced over the hardwood planks. The fire happened too quickly to be natural. Some sort of magical force was behind it.
* "Come on, we have to go!" She urged him by pulling his arm until he stood and ran behind her. Once they were outside, her fingers fumbled with the buttons on her phone as she dialed 911. Daniel stood beside her. His face was white, whiter than the nice tan he had all day. "What…" He stuttered. "What just happened?"
* "The spell didn't work. Peace and forgiveness didn't get to her. Something repelled them, and her anger came at us, manifesting itself as the wind. This spell is stronger than I first thought. Something or someone is controlling it."

Something's off ~ Hump Day H00k ( #HDH @rmsotera )

Hi all! Wow. Another week's come and gone, and we're back to Hump Day Hook where authors share snippets from their stories. :)
This week I'm sharing more from Wild West Hauntings, the second book in the Double D Ranch Tales saga.

* Slow and steady she pressed on the accelerator. She finished the drive to the parking area near the lodge. The large building had a stone façade that reminded her of the Italian marble found in her grandmother’s New York City penthouse. She liked the big pieces of cream colored stones with gold and grey veins streaking their surfaces. Rachel shifted uneasily in her seat. She couldn’t put a finger on it, but something about the structure was off. The lodge seemed too large, appeared too new.

Please don't forget to stop by and read the other authors participating in this week's HDH ~ http://humpdayhook.blogspot.co.uk

An FYI: RM and I have 3 novellas and 2 novel length stories in the works for this series. We're also planning a special intimate event at Hot Mojave Knights ~ A Romance Readers' Event in Las Vegas regarding our Wild West series of books! So come out, meet us, enjoy the weekend and find out what we have planned for the series. And if you follow this blog and the Double D Blog, keep an eye out for upcoming blog h0ps for prizes and an extra special HMK prize from me and RM Sotera. ;) To keep up with the Double D Ranch Tales saga, visit: Double D Ranch Tales Blog.

A Look At Sandra Bunino & 'Marooned with the Millionaire' ( @sandrabunino @evernightpub #MM )

Today we have author Sandra Bunino visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Thanks for having me on your blog again, C.R. It’s always fun visiting you! I’m a numbers crunching business professional by day who stays up past her bedtime thanks to my oh-so-sexy imagination. Who needs sleep, anyway?

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* I have Marooned with the Millionaire with me today! It’s a stand-alone story about two sexy strangers stranded together in a boutique hotel on Miami’s South Beach during a storm.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* Interestingly, I came up with the story while traveling on business. I drove from the airport to my hotel in a fierce storm. I was tense from the drive and thankful to find the hotel. As soon as I walked into the lobby, a calmness fell over me. I thought it would be the start of a delicious story.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Alpha, arrogant, protective, successful, sexy

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Driven, independent, inquisitive, brave, sexy

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* I’m in love with Jason but I have to say Stephanie is my favorite character because of her development from a broken woman, thanks to her ex-husband, to a strong and resilient person. Her relationship with Jason has a lot to do with her growth but in the end she helps save him, too.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* It’s silly but my favorite line is: “I don’t have any panties on.” Followed by: “Damn, I knew it.”
* It’s a running joke between Jason and Stephanie.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* A fierce Miami storm bring sexy strangers together at The Hotel Del Santos for a night of desire.
* Stephanie, still reeling from a failed marriage, needs a break from the past. Shying away from the convention center crowds while on a business trip, she finds solace tucked away in a secluded hotel on South Beach.
* Jason, a wealthy Seattle builder, has the worst luck with love. He swears he will never allow another woman to get under his skin, until the clicking of a pair of sexy stilettos across the hotel lobby floor attracts his attention.
* Cut off from the outside world, the lives of these two strangers collide and burn with desire when a storm strands them together. Neither wants anything more than a glorious one-night stand.
* Their chemistry is undeniable and propels them to a second meeting in Sin City. However, Stephanie soon learns she has more reason to be wary of her mysterious lover than a broken heart.

~ Excerpt ~
* He led her to the dance floor illuminated only with candlelight and the occasional flash of lightning. Placing one hand in his and the other on his back, their bodies started out a respectable distance apart. Before long, Jason’s warmth drew her in, and she couldn’t ignore the electricity forming between them. Tentatively, she stepped closer and lightly rested her head against his neck. Jason took this as a cue to guide her hand up and over his shoulder. Suddenly, his strong hands urgently pulled her against his rock hard body. The force of his embrace awakened a passion that lay dormant inside her until now. Stephanie couldn’t fight the fire building within her. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, inhaling his musky scent while caressing his neck with her fingertips. Her face grazed up the side of his neck, stopping at his jawbone. Jason’s touch seared her skin as his fingertips skimmed up her side to her neck and came to rest on her chin. With his thumb and finger, he guided her face upward and she opened her eyes. His smoldering gaze burned a trail down her body. Uncomfortable with the intensity of his stare, she looked away.
* “Stephanie.”
* Her eyes shifted back to meet his gaze as he lowered his mouth and softly brushed his lips against hers, questioning her, awaiting a response.

A Look At Christina St. Claire and Amanda Armstrong & 'Ten Yen True' ( @kidbooker @mandymia @GoddessFish #FF )

Today we have authors Christina St. Claire and Amanda Armstrong visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourselves?
~ Christina St. Claire
* Award winning author, former shop-girl, chemist, and pastor, is currently a spiritual director, Reiki Master (don't read too much into the title master!), wife, animal lover, and writer.
* She says, "Boring life? Let's not do duty. Let's do awe! Take a look at your own complexity? You might be amazed. Life leads us into so many interesting and sometimes difficult crossroads where we get to choose what now, what next? As a student of mysticism and spirituality in all its incarnations both religious, secular, and new age, I want to understand what life is about, what is truth? I am still seeking, but I am offering to those who are interested my insights weaved throughout my essays and stories. I hope my writings might add to your already surprising lives."
~ Amanda Armstrong
* As author of Rose, this is my second published novel. They say everybody has at least one book in them. I have thousands, just screaming to get out!
* A former banker turned wife and mother, I've been given the privilege to do just that and I am having so much fun.

What book are you going to tell us about today?
* Ten Yen True. Kaizen! That’s what Caitlin, JJ, Paul, and Tommy need--to change for the better. When they each mysteriously receive one of four ten yen coins, none of them know or understand why or where their journey is about to take them. Ten Yen True intertwines the lives of four people, all of whom have need of one another to bring about healing and wholeness and are being mysteriously helped by a Japanese monk. It is a story of hope, love, forgiveness and miracles, exploring the spiritual and psychological underpinnings of the main characters, demonstrating the interconnectedness of human beings.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* When four ten yen coins are mysteriously received, who knows where the journey will lead and what miracles may occur along the way.
* For many years, the monk sat beside the Ajiike pond as he did today in the early morning, breathing in the peaceful settings of the Pure Land gardens. He was angry at the awful atrocities so recently bestowed upon his people.
* Caitlin was ambitious to the point of ruthlessness.
* JJ was counting on getting a job at Johns Hopkins...he had to get out of Ashland KY and his father’s house before he blew his stack.
* Little Tommy...He glanced again at the coin beside his hospital bed and felt suddenly peaceful. Like maybe everything would be ok.
* Paul Somerville... Tommy’s father, former Hollywood actor, wannabe political star.
* Four people...four ten yen coins.
* And a miracle...?

~ Excerpt ~
* Paul ran out of the hospital with journalists and camera-men swooping after him. He plunged through the revolving door, glad the camera guys would be delayed by having to exit through a side door. Outside the hospital, he saw a lone guy balancing a heavy movie camera on his shoulder. Paul swung around so fast he lost his balance and fell. On his feet in a matter of seconds, he knew it was too late. He could almost see the image of himself sprawling on the concrete outside Kosair Children's Hospital. It would be relentlessly flashed to every news agency in America. For once, Paul did not want the publicity, did not want to explain his stupid mistake, how he'd not been there for Tommy, how, if anything, he'd made matters worse.

Going Decadent ~ My story #DecadentAuthors #DecadentJourney @decadentpub

Hi everyone! Today a bunch of Decadent Publishing authors are sharing their stories about their Decadent Journey. Authors will be discussing their first acceptances to adventures in decadent edits to book cover delights or perhaps even their favorite edit bloopers!
* My Decadent journey started in September 2011 when I went to a conference in Las Vegas and met some of the wonderful ladies associated with Decadent Publishing. During one of our gab fests, I learned about the 1NightStand series. It sounded like a great line, and I was excited to work on some stories for it. After returning home from the convention, I immediately set to work on drafting up some ideas and writing my first 1NS book—Sunset Desires. It was picked up and since then I’ve published a second one called Sunset Seduction. My third story, Sunset Temptations, is due out at the end of May while my fourth one, Sunset Heat is in the editing queue.
* I have to say, I’ve really enjoyed writing for the 1NS series. They have a thorough editing process, great covers and the women at Decadent are just as lovely and nice in person as they are online. If you’re a beginning writer just starting out in the publishing world or a seasoned author interested in composing short stories, I recommend checking out the series and giving it go with writing a story for it. :)
* To read more authors’ stories visit the Decadent blog for a listing of participants. If you don't happen to see a list there, then visit these hashtags at twitter: #DecadentAuthors &/or #DecadentJourney

A Look At Larisa Walk & 'A Witch Without Magic' ( @LarisaWalk @GoddessFish #SO )

Today we have author Larisa Walk visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Larisa Walk, a native Russian, lives in California with her husband and two formerly homeless cats. She writes paranormal fiction that is more often than not populated by characters from the Russian fairy world. Her short fiction appeared in several anthologies and magazines. She has published a historic fantasy novel, A Handful of Earth, and a modern paranormal novel, A Witch Without Magic.

What book are you going to tell us about today?
* A Witch Without Magic

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* When her neighbors accuse Belladonna of Satanism and making them age years to days, she must find who is behind it or face a modern day witch hunt. Her mysterious enemy knows where to strike to cause the most damage: Belladonna's only friend is losing his life-force; the garden that feeds her is dying; and her house ghost goes poltergeist. To save her neighbors and friends and prove her innocence, she must travel to the Otherworld where butterflies have razor wings and where her worst fears will come to life.

~ Excerpt ~
* I tried to walk with an official swing in my step, clipboard under my right arm, the other arm at my side, desperately trying not to clutch at the fabric of my jumpsuit with a death grip. Mice and rats darted in and out of bushes. A large flock of crows cawed in the trees. In one spot ants covered the sidewalk like spilled black pepper. Dark magic was afoot and the vermin were drawn to it.
* There were some kids with aged faces playing on the other side of the street. I tried not to stare at them. One kid, a boy of about seven, judging by his height, actually looked like he was in his eighties. He seemed to have trouble breathing and had to stop often to rest. My jaws ached and a sharp spike seemed to be embedded in my chest. Goddess help me, but I couldn't blame their parents for hating me. If I were in their place and thought I knew who was doing this to my kids, I'd go on a witch hunt, too. I was lucky the cops didn't believe my neighbors that I was doing this awful life-draining stuff to them or I wouldn't have any protection. I prayed hard that I'd find a way to stop the dark witch before anyone died from being too old at the age of seven.

A Look At Liz Crowe & 'Mutual Release' ( @beerwencha2 @GoddessFish @tridestinypub #FF )

Today we have author Liz Crowe visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I’m Liz and I write books and own a microbrewery in Ann Arbor. I have a degree in English Lit, and have worked in public relations, marketing and sales my whole career. I am addicted to bikram yoga, walking my poodle muses, craft beer and writing kind of in that order. I’ve lived in 3 different countries with my spouse and 2, then 3, kids—Japan, Turkey and England. Was born in Nashville, raised in South east Kentucky, schooled at the University of Louisville and live in Ann Arbor, Michigan now. I love Saturdays during football season and the entire month of March for basketball PLUS the Spanish soccer league.
* Bio: Microbrewery owner, best-selling author, beer blogger and journalist, mom of three teenagers, and soccer fan, Liz lives in the great Midwest, in a major college town. Years of experience in sales and fund raising, plus an eight-year stint as an ex-pat trailing spouse, plus making her way in a world of men (i.e. the beer industry), has prepped her for life as erotic romance author.
* When she isn't sweating inventory and sales figures for the brewery, she can be found writing, editing or sweating promotional efforts for her latest publications.
* Her groundbreaking romance subgenre, “Romance for Real Life,” has gained thousands of fans and followers who are interested less in the “HEA” and more in the “WHA” (“What Happens After?”) Her beer blog a2beerwench.com is nationally recognized for its insider yet outsider views on the craft beer industry. Her books are set in the not-so-common worlds of breweries, on the soccer pitch and in high-powered real estate offices. Don’t ask her for anything “like” a Budweiser or risk painful injury.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* MUTUAL RELEASE is the 7th book in the popular Stewart Realty series however, it is a stand alone novel and could serve as intro to the whole series if readers like my style.
* It’s a coming of age novel about trust, has elements of BDSM in it but not as the main story, merely as a way to show more about my characters’ psychology and motivations.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I have a habit (good or bad, who knows?) of writing secondary characters that end up compelling me so much I want to tell their story as well. Evan Adams is a law school buddy of Jack Gordon’s, the main male character of this series and ends up moving to Ann Arbor and buying a craft microbrewery there and making a go of it. Julie Dawson is the woman who ends up his life partner, after several missteps between them, and is mentioned in the series several times as a good friend to Sara Thornton, the main female character of the series.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Evan Adams is loyal, focused, honest, determined and a Dom (who has been known to switch).

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Julie Dawson is independent, stubborn, funny, driven and successful.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* I love them both, really. But Julie is darn close to me in many ways, including her annoying habits.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* “Better put that thing away, Country Club. You’re scaring the natives.” Julie Dawson
* followed closely by
* “Are we really that screwed up?” Julie
* “I think maybe we are.” Evan

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Disclaimer: This is an 18+ book with erotic BDSM scenes and explicit language.
* Can two dark souls ever make a light?
* As president of her own distribution company, Julie Dawson has all she ever wanted -- money, power, and respect. But her carefully crafted façade conceals a torment of abuse and helplessness. After years remaining emotionally aloof, she is finally independent, but alone. Because she refuses to rely on anyone but herself ever again.
* Evan Adams is no stranger to success, or personal demons. The horrific trauma that destroyed his twin sister, and tore his family apart, forced him to craft a new life from the ashes of the old. He's content enough, focusing ahead and not dwelling on his murky past. But something important is missing. He knows what that thing is but refuses to acknowledge it.
* When a chance encounter brings these two strong-willed but damaged people together , what seems like a long, erotic journey through hell could lead them to a match made in heaven.
* MUTUAL RELEASE
* A coming of age novel about trust...on the long road to love.

~ X-Rated Excerpt ~
* A leather chair appeared from the gloom. Evan looked around, then took the seat, disappointed but intrigued. He could hear Jack’s voice, his laughter low and inviting. What the fuck? Was Gordon getting in on action while he had to watch? Then he heard Jenna’s annoying giggle and realized the club must be making her watch too, only she got to do it with her date. He sighed, leaned back, and prepared himself to be underwhelmed.
* “No,” a sexy, rough female voice broke through the clamor in his head. It must have surprised everyone because all the people on the couches glanced up. “I want him. Out here.” Evan looked straight at her and saw the hot-as-shit Domme point her bullwhip right at him. He gulped, actually looked around like a dork, thinking there must be someone behind him. He was no sub.
* She crooked her finger, her ruby-red moist lips drawing his gaze and making him feel positively hypnotized. His cock kept up its painful pressure along the inside of his zipper. A drop of sweat formed on his temple but he couldn’t move his arms to brush it away. All he knew… was her.
* “Mr. Adams,” the disembodied voice said. “Your presence has been requested by our Mistress. Please. Do not make her wait.” The sheer curtain separating him from the crowd parted as he stood. Shoving his hands in his pockets and no longer aware of anything at all but what he wanted right now, he took the few steps down to the main floor.
* “Stop!” She held up a hand. “Do not come any closer until I tell you.” She snapped her fingers. A tall man dressed only in leather pants emerged from somewhere to her left. A woman approached him, smiling and holding out a tray filled with… He stared, then shook his head, backing away, his brain on fire and his body in flight mode. “Where are you going, slave?” The woman cracked her whip. Evan sensed its bite near his cheek.
* “I am no one’s slave,” he croaked out, sounding like a whiney kid.
* “Perhaps. But I am not just anyone.” Before he could catch a breath, the woman was in his space. He kept his hands at his sides, knowing if he touched her he would be punished. Her full lips were inches from his. She leaned in, placed a tender kiss on his cheek, then stepped back.
* “The Mistress has chosen!” the voice boomed and the room heaved a collective sigh. Evan whipped his head around, suddenly terrified and hornier than he had been in his entire existence. He closed his eyes as a loud whooshing sound started echoing around in his head in perfect time with his heartbeat. He held his ground, biting the inside of his cheek raw to keep from falling to his knees and kissing his way up her shiny patent leather shoe. The woman stood, the cape-like cloak draped around her tall, perfect body. He couldn’t move and had no idea what to do now anyway.
* She took two long steps and was back in his space, tugging his tie, lifting it free of his collar and letting her lips linger over his, tempting, teasing, and bringing his body to full attention from his scalp to his toes. What in the hell was going on here? He was a sub? But the whooshing sound would not stop; it deafened him and he started to shake. The woman put her hands on his shoulders and kept kissing him just enough to make him insane. Disembodied hands removed his suit coat. Then, with a powerful jerk, She ripped his dress shirt into two scraps of expensive cotton that hung from his wrists.
* His nipples hardened, his skin broke out in goose bumps. More bodiless hands unfastened his cuffs and took what remained of his shirt away. The woman kept smiling, trailing her fingertip down his chest. Evan’s lungs hurt he was breathing so hard.
* “You are very…” She leaned in and touched her tongue to a nipple, making him gasp. “In need of…” She licked her way across his chest to the other hardened nub of flesh and bit, hard, making him yelp and grunt to distract himself from coming in his trousers. “A lesson in what it means to wield control.”
* She unfurled the whip, keeping her lips on his skin, licking and nibbling her way up his neck as he stood, fists clenched and teeth grinding. Then she bit down on his lower lip, bringing tears to his eyes and yet more urgency to fuck. What was happening to him?
* “Sit.” She shoved him down. Evan dropped, hoping someone had put a chair there. His ass hit leather and wood. Watching mesmerized as she dug a sharp heel into his still-covered thigh. The pulsing behind his zipper had reached a level he’d never experienced. It was as if he were already coming, in his head, trying to relieve the pressure without actually ejaculating. This was a total goddamn trip. He sighed, looked up at the ceiling.
* “Don’t look away from me, slave.” Her rough voice made the whooshing sound return between his ears. She snapped her fingers. Two nearly naked women scuttled to his side, undid his belt, unzipped his pants, and pulled off his shoes while removing his trousers, leaving only his tie and boxers.
* “Holy fucking mother of… ah!” he cried out, unable to stop when the woman stood over him, her warm, inviting sex right at his eye level. Other hands rubbed, teased him through his underwear. But he kept his eyes trained up as he sucked in a lungful of her heady scent.
* “You think this is all there is, don’t you, boy?” The woman’s voice filled his head. “Your giant cock and what you can do with it.” She stepped away from him, flicking her whip at his inner thighs, breaking up the pleasure with a bite of pain that made him curse and lean forward. The lovely, soft hands that had been on his aching shaft disappeared. “Oh no you don’t. You sit; you take, and you do not come. For any reason. If you do, I will make you very,” she slid the handle of the whip along his reddened inner leg, “very sorry. Are we clear? Dear?”

Etched image ~ Hump Day H00k ( #HDH @rmsotera )

Hi all! Wow. Another week's come and gone, and we're back to Hump Day Hook where authors share snippets from their stories. :)
This week I'm sharing a part from Wild West Hauntings, the second book in the Double D Ranch Tales saga. This bit follows right after the part I shared last week.

* Fine, gritty earth particles created an ugly, sandy coat on the green car. She didn’t care. The rental could be washed, but the image etched into her mind? What could be done about that? Still disbelieving the sight before her, she clicked on the windshield wash and wipers. The brush of the black metal and rubber arms along the glass didn’t change the vision. Another cold rush of vague feelings that she’d been here before swept over her.

Please don't forget to stop by and read the other authors participating in this week's HDH ~ http://humpdayhook.blogspot.co.uk

RM and I have 2 novellas and a third novel length story in the works for this series. We're also planning a special intimate event at Hot Mojave Knights ~ A Romance Readers' Event in Las Vegas regarding our Wild West series of books. So come out, meet us, enjoy the weekend and find out what we have planned for the series. (A special BOGO promotion for HMK is in effect until April 11 so get a friend to come, too!) And if you follow this blog and the Double D Blog, keep an eye out for upcoming blog h0ps for prizes and an extra special HMK prize from me and RM Sotera. ;) To keep up with the Double D Ranch Tales saga, visit: Double D Ranch Tales Blog.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* A gathering storm of violence is on the horizon. Whispered threats of the Acta Sanctorum’s return have the supernatural world abuzz. Only recently aware of the other world hidden behind our own, Kitara Vanders has barely scratched the surface of what being supernatural truly means. A special woman in her own right, she possesses unique telepathic abilities, gifts that have recently come under the scrutiny of the Acta Sanctorum, a fanatical organization whose mission is to cleanse the world of anything supernatural. Targeted and marked for death, Kitara’s only hope lies with the lethally seductive yet emotionally scarred warrior Nicholas.
* Knowing full well the atrocities of which the Acta Sanctorum is capable, Nicholas is all too eager for the battle to begin. Fueled by pain and rage from the loss of his mate, he’s itching for a fight, but one thing stands in his way: Kitara, a beautiful dark-haired woman with unique psychic abilities and an unusual link to the Saints. Despite his resolve to remain focused on his mission, a purely physical relationship binds them together in a way neither of them expected. And when her life hangs in the balance, Nicholas finds his own is teetering on the edge too.

* He looked at his arm. The wound was still there, but it had begun to scab over. Her blood was already working magic. “You took a dangerous risk.”
* “I was armed.” She held the blade, a 10-inch chef’s knife up ready to strike.
* Without warning, Nicholas lunged forward and grabbed Kitara’s wrist in a crushing grip. He pushed her backwards, pinning her to the wall with his body. She tried to struggle, but was no match for Nicholas. He took her free hand and held it firm against the wall.
* Kitara’s heartbeat raced, vibrating through her chest into Nicholas’s body. The tantalizing thump-thump sent all of his blood rushing south. A new need arose within Nicholas. One he had not satisfied in a long while. Kitara’s breath shuddered. Nicholas felt the contracting of her muscles as she tried to fight his grip and bring the knife down upon him. Her human strength was nothing. Even in his weakened state he held her firm, but he admired her spirit. The smell of her fear, and her sweet orange and vanilla scent, called out to him. He bent his head low to take a better whiff. His nose grazed the soft skin at the base of her neck. She was a delicious temptation. He’d already sampled her blood once; he knew how rich and sweet she tasted, and he longed for more. He bent lower, drawing out the moment, savoring the anticipation, reveling in the frantic thump-thump of her calling heart, the pulsing artery in her neck practically begging for him to open up and devour all she had to give. Nicholas let out a slow breath and reined in his hunger. He gently pressed his lips against the soft warmth of her skin. Just a simple kiss, but that alone had its own satisfying effect.
* Kitara’s body spasmed under his grip. She let out a strangled squeal, then went slack in his arms.
* Nicholas held her firm, wrapping one arm around her waist, taking on her weight and keeping her upright. “Have I made my point?” Husky need filled his voice. Oh, how he wanted to slake his desire for her blood and her body! But that could not happen.
* “Yes.” Her words came out in a whisper. The heat from her breath blew against his ear and her body pressed so close to his. Her warmth. Her scent. He was the one supposed to be in control, yet everything about her made him want to sit up and beg like a dog. All of his remaining blood had traveled down south, and suddenly his pants became unbearably tight.

A Look At Kacey Hammell and 'Sweetest Salvation' ( @KaceyHammell @evernightpub #SO )

Today we have author Kacey Hammell visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Thank you for having me here today, CR. Hello everyone!
* I write mainly Contemporary Erotic Romances. I’m a mom of three, wife, cattle farmer, school council volunteer, I cry over nearly everything from weddings to baby commercials to a killing of my fave character on a TV show. I don’t like hypocrites, homophobes or bullies.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in? How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I’m incorporating 2 different questions here as it’s easier to summarize them together -- Sweetest Salvation is a stand-alone Contemporary Erotic Romance with some light bondage. My muse took the idea and ran with it when the “real Andy” said it might make for a good story. In the story Andy has lost her husband and child within months of each other. She’s living a life practically shut away, surrounded by her dark thoughts, survivor’s guilt and despair. It is loosely based on real life tragedies that a dear friend suffered. It was a path she nearly didn’t come away from, but also found a way to break free of it too. My friend thought it would make a good story because the key factor is healing and moving on, trying to live again. I hope readers take that from the story most of all.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Sexy, charming, stubborn, powerful, passionate

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Big-hearted, passionate, assertive, beautiful, nurturing

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Both lead characters. I can’t choose between the two. They both need one another, have suffered the same loss (Andy’s husband was Hunter’s best friend) and the journey is healing for both of them. They both let me in to write the story, shared themselves with me more so than any characters before – I’m guessing because the premise of the story is personal for me too – and I couldn’t choose just one.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* Too many to choose one. All the emotional fragments that surround and break away from Andy, and that Hunter reveals with his own pain. As I said, it is a very emotional story.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* After the deaths of her husband and child, tragedies that she blames herself for, Andrea “Andy” Sheaver has shut herself off from the world. The only place she finds any relief from her shattered heart is Club Splendor, where she and her husband often frequented together. There, Andy submits to pleasure and pain in situations so her grief is forgotten for a little while.
* But Hunter Sullivan won’t stand idly by and watch Andy self-destruct. A friend of her husband, and the owner of Club Splendor, Hunter has kept his love for Andy hidden for years. He refuses to think of her at the club, cold and detached as she’s become, looking for an easy fix to take away the pain in her heart. Hunter wants her to vibrant in life again and sets out to prove he is exactly who she needs.
*An Editor’s Pick* ~ Content Warning: Contains Voyeurism, Spanking, Multiple Partners

~ Excerpt ~
* “Mr. Sullivan is waiting for you. He said you’d know where to go.” He smiled and winked.
* Cheeks on fire, she gave him a small nod and walked ahead. She moved into the bar area and looked around. The place was packed tonight.
* There were a few people she recognized, but most were new faces. Hunter’s business was certainly thriving.
* Bridget caught sight of her and waved. Andy did the same and turned to the left, down the hall that would take her to room fourteen and Hunter.
* Movement caught the corner of her eye, and she looked to her right. At a table in the far corner, Paige and Nolan sat with another couple. She missed a step, but gained her balance again. She hadn’t thought about seeing them again. Paige waved and her husband smiled bright.
* The couple’s kindness and understanding arced across the room. Andy smiled and waved back. They’d been there for her the other night. She’d be forever grateful for it.
* Reaching the room, she took a deep breath and knocked. Hearing Hunter’s gruff, “Come in,” she turned the knob.
* The room, similar to the one she’d used the other night, had a warmer feel to it. The fireplace ablaze, the heat of it welcomed her.
* Andy’s gaze swept the room. Furnished with a full living room set, she loved the royal purple and black colors of the furniture and curtains than anything else. This room conveyed privacy and self-indulgence. Her heart rate increased just thinking of all that might have been done in this room.
* It was made for sex. Especially with a glass display case that took up the most of wall. Inside were dildos, anal plugs, collars, floggers, cock rings and more toys of pleasure.
* Andy’s gaze landed on Hunter where he sat in the center of the couch, arms stretched over the back of it.
* “Hi, sweetheart.”
* Her gaze narrowed on his and she shut the door behind her. “Don’t you sweetheart me, Hunter. And get that look off your face.”
* “What look?”
* “That self-righteous look. I might be here, but not for the reasons you think.”
* “Then why are you here?” he questioned, his gaze unwavering.
* “I wanted to tell you in person that your idea isn’t going to happen. We’ve been… friends too long. You’re Patrick’s best friend. It’s all kinds of wrong.”
* He leaned forward, arms resting on his powerful thighs.
* His red t-shirt molded his shoulders and the cuffs of the arms looked snug around his biceps. Damn him for being in such great shape.
* She shivered, nipples tightening. She needed to get away from him.
* “There, I’ve said all I have to say. Goodbye,” she muttered, and turned back toward the door.
* Hunter was quickly behind her, arms encasing her as his palms pressed against the door and preventing her retreat.
* His breath was warm against her ear. Andy wished she’d left her hair down. At least she wouldn’t be able to feel his breath on her neck.
* A shudder ran through her. “Let me out, Hunter. I need to leave.”
* “Why? You were so desperate to remain a member and be here the other night. I’m simply offering a safer solution. Me instead of strangers,” he rasped against her ear.
* “I don’t have to worry about much with strangers. At least they aren’t people I have to see after the sex is over.”
* Hunter pressed in closer behind her, which pushed her farther against the door. She’d always been claustrophobic. And right now, being caged in by this man, made it even harder to breathe than if she was locked in a closet. His chest was firm against her, his mouth against her ear, and his hoarse voice soft.
* Her thighs rubbed together and her clit chafed against her thong. The string along her ass was snug. All she had to do was turn around and take what he offered. She wanted a cock inside her.
* Dear lord, this was Hunter.
* Could she step over the invisible line and take what he offered?
* He was attractive, always had been to her. Hell, she’d only been married, not dead. She appreciated a gorgeous man when she saw him.
* Hunter always treated with her respect and friendship. She didn’t know how much he dated but had heard women at the club mention his prowess in the bedroom. He could probably give her everything she needed. There would be a sense of safety with him at least.
* And her body’s reaction to him today, while surprising, knew what it wanted. While she was sure it was a bad idea for them to journey down this path, she was overwhelmed by the sudden realization that not just any cock would do.
* She wanted Hunter. Wanted only him inside her.
* Her breath hitched and her lungs filled, making it hard to breathe. No, she didn`t have the courage to give into this man.
* She needed to get out of this room and away from him. Grabbing the doorknob once more, Andy yanked.
* Hunter’s palms never moved from the door, but in her hasty movements, his chest aligned tighter against her back.
* Pressed against the door, she turned her head, her right cheek resting on it as her breasts pushed against her bra. The hard surface scraped against her clothing, which abraded her nipples. The urge to purr and rub against the wood was overwhelming.
* Hunter’s body pressed against her; the cock cradling her ass told her that he was just as affected as she. His length was hard, solid. His hips dipped and shoved against the crack of her ass.
* “Andy,” he whispered in her ear.
* She closed her eyes, willed herself to push back against him until he let her go.
* Her eyes opened when she realized her hips moved against his. Her pussy quivered and her stomach clenched. There was no sense in fighting a losing battle. She wanted him.
