A Look At Rebecca Brochu & 'Grayscale' @AuthorRBrochu @evernightpub #gay #suspense

Today we have author Rebecca Brochu visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I am proud to say that I live in a small town in North Carolina, surrounded by fields and fresh air. Naturally I spend most of my days crouched in front of a keyboard or curled up with a book. As an avid video game and anime enthusiast, it is an understatement to say that I have a vivid imagination. With a collection of games, dvd's, and books that number too many to count I am often neck deep in some fantasy world. I am also the proud owner of two haughty cats and one encouraging dog. I truly do owe it all to the readers. Thank you so very much.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* I'm sharing a peek at my story, Grayscale.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* As a Chroma agent, one of the elite operatives for the Spectrum Intelligence Agency, Jonah Gray was skilled enough to handle most anything that came his way. If not Jonah knew he could always rely on his handler, the clever Mr. Fox, to pull him through. Drawn to the seductive voice and commanding strength of the man on the other end of the line, Jonah wavers between his attraction to his handler and the knowledge that handlers and operatives are never supposed to meet.
* Then a mission goes horribly wrong and Jonah finds himself on the wrong end of a kill order. With Jonah on the run both handler and operative are desperate to finally meet so they can face this new threat head on. Together they struggle to discover who wants Jonah dead while they finally take the opportunity to embrace the passion that has always simmered between them.
~ Excerpt ~
* “Are your eyes closed?” Silas asked him quieter than before, softer and gentler.
* “Yes Sir.” Jonah felt vulnerable in that moment, in a way he thought he’d left behind a long time ago. To distract himself a bit he let his hands come down to rest on his stomach, let his fingers slide gently over the skin there, but no lower. He didn’t have permission for that yet, after all.
* “I’ve got you,” Silas promised almost as if he could tell what Jonah was feeling without even being able to see him. “You’re safe with me remember? You can relax and trust me Jonah. You can trust me to keep you safe, to tell you what to do. You can trust me with all of that. With all of you.”
* “I know. I do.” Jonah fought back the swell of emotions in his chest as the mixture of devotion and affection that he always felt towards Silas threatened to burst free. Slowly, deliberately, he inhaled again. Exhaled. Inhaled, exhaled, repeated it until he felt himself even out, felt himself center.
* “Good.” Silas said it roughly, voice ragged in a way that let Jonah know just how much his admittance meant to Silas. “I wish I could see you right now. You’re gorgeous Jonah, you know that don’t you? I bet you’re beautiful the way you are right now, laid back on that bed with your eyes closed, cock hard and body open. I bet you’re perfect. I’ve always thought you would be. Ever since the first time I saw you.”
* Jonah’s eyes flew open in stunned surprise before he slammed them shut again. Silas’s voice was ragged but honest, deep and thick with that hot, honey drawl that Jonah loved so much.
* “You’ve seen me?” The thought that Silas had seen him, knew what he looked like, and so obviously approved, made Jonah feel slightly giddy with a mixture of pride and relief.
* “Oh yes.” Silas sounded amused for a moment then. “I’ve seen you many times Jonah. I am your handler after all. I’ve read your file, seen videos. Sometimes I watch you on the security cameras on missions. You’re a thing of beauty, Jonah. All lethal grace and power that draws the eye. Even when you’re off mission, even when you’re wandering around whatever city or town you decide to spend your time in, you’re still fascinating. Captivating.”
* “And do I?” Jonah couldn’t help but ask. He needed to know, burned to know for certain whether or not the fascination he felt was mutual. “Do I captivate you?”
* “Completely,” Silas admitted quietly and with that sort of brutal honesty in his voice that Jonah adored.

A Look At Cait Jarrod, Two Beer Chili, & 'Breaking All Barriers' @CaitJarrod @WildRosePress #mystery #chilirecipe

Today we have author Cait Jarrod visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Hi everyone! I have an official street team, Cait’s Classy Chicks, that launched the day of my latest release! To join, click here
* As a child, I entertained myself for hours playing pretend, but not with dolls and such. I created stories and pictured them in my mind, sometimes even acted them out, my well preserved secret until now. I spent years after leaving school trying to figure out my niche. Not being a literary enthusiast, I never thought my childhood pastime would lead in this direction. In life, one door closes and another opens, so I’m told. This was true for me. I lost my mother, my best friend, to cancer. After a year without her, I picked up her favorite hobby…reading. After one book, a romantic suspense, I was hooked. In the past, I’d fall asleep after a few minutes of reading. Now, books rank up there with a good red wine. It didn’t take long for my childhood muse to come back in adult version urging me to put the scenes in my head on paper. Why do I write romantic suspense? I love writing and creating the meet-cue (the point where the hero and heroine meet) to the blossoming of the romance. Add a suspenseful plot or a good mystery to the equation and the perfect book is born to curl up to and lose yourself in, taking you away from reality, troubles. I hope I have provided you with the escape similar to the ones I conjured in childhood and rediscovered as an adult, and I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I have loved creating them. Cait’s debut novel, Kidnapped Hearts, won awards in the categories of Best Happily Ever After and Best Suspense. Cait lives in Virginia with her husband and three daughters.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* My story Breaking All Barriers and a comfort food recipe.
* A bit about Breaking All Barriers: Businessman Cole Dunbar breaks away from inventing the latest gadgets when the woman who has broken through his protective walls turns up missing. A deadly storm and a sex trafficking ring have Cole racing against time and breaking all barriers to find Dina Wright. But does Dina need saving?
Now... Can anyone say comfort food?
* Before all hell broke loose in Breaking All Barriers, Vince had planned to cook his famous chili for his best friend, Dina, her love interest Cole, and Dina’s roommate, Monique. They planned to eat chili and watch movies while they waited out the deadly storm hitting New York City. Eh, sometimes things don’t go according to plan, but here’s the recipe for you to enjoy!
Two Beer Chili
Ingredients
2-4 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 pounds boneless beef chuck, cubed
2 large onions
3 green peppers
2 teaspoons of moist garlic
3 28 oz cans of tomatoes-diced or whole
2 cubes of beef bouillon
1 large can of red kidney beans
A dash of Salt
A couple shakes of pepper
1/3 cup chili powder
½-1 teaspoon of granulated garlic
Jalapenos-the number depending on how hot you like it.
Thickening—either flour or cornstarch—*always mix with water before adding to soup. Otherwise, the broth will turn out lumpy.
Directions
In a large pot, brown the cubed beef in vegetable oil over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of moist garlic. Once done, transfer meat to a plate.
Add more oil to the pot, if necessary. Add the chopped onions and peppers. Add another teaspoon of garlic. Cook until the onions are golden and the peppers are tender.
Once done, add tomatoes with juices, chili powder, kidney beans-no need to drain, jalapenos, and return the beef back to the pot. Add salt and pepper and thicken the broth a little with either flour or cornstarch—*check the note above. Drop the beef bouillon into the pot.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, partially covered for 2-4 hours. Stir often, making sure you’re mixing the ingredient off the bottom of the pot so nothing sticks.
I test taste the chili in about an hour and add more salt, pepper, garlic, or chili powder according to your taste.
Toppings
Shredded cheese, sour cream or macaroni elbows.

* A little tidbit of about how I came up with the name:
* Years ago, my then boyfriend—now husband—would make the chili extremely hot. It took me two beers to get through one bowl, hence the name Two Beer Chili.
* Hope you enjoy! ~ Cait
Breaking All Barriers snippet...
* “Tell me, Dina. Is this what you want?” Love and sincerity reflected in his heavy-lidded gaze.
* She wanted this, them together, him, forever . “Yes,” she said around the thick ball of emotion lodged in her throat. The expression she couldn’t name moments ago shined deep within his eyes… belonging . “I want you.”
...and another
* “Would you explain something to me?”
* His deep voice combined with the sexual undertones of his hot gaze spread warmth over her entire body. “What?”
* “Explain why I want you so damn bad, I can’t think of anything else, but you? Explain why I want to take you until you cry out my name?”

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Businessman Cole Dunbar stays focused inventing the latest techno gadgets. When he learns of his deceased wife’s betrayal, he shuts the door on any personal relationships.
* There’s just one problem—the sexy Dina Wright who lives down the hall. He can’t keep her out of his thoughts and fantasies. When he sees her frightened on a New York City street, he tosses aside his reservations and kisses her.
* Dina is high on life. Not only is she starting an advertising agency and her best friend returns to NYC, an honest-to-God hunk is sending her spine-tingling looks.
* Despite past betrayals interfering, the budding romance picks up momentum, but Mother Nature spins her wrath. Amidst the chaos, Dina vanishes.
* Cole can’t sit still while the FBI investigates. He takes matters into his own hands and breaks all barriers to find her.
~ Excerpt ~
* A single gunshot echoed in the night.
* An invisible death-grip tightened his throat. The road and buildings warped. Sound faded. Cole’s fear came to fruition, the worst moment of his life.
* He needed eyes on Dina now!
* Cole forced his legs to move faster into the darkness. The small amount of glow, seeping around the trailer from the junker’s headlights, gave him a visual to the only other intact car, parked next to the overturned truck.
* The cloud pattern shifted and the moon brightened the darkened sky. Beyond the downed trailer, demolished truck, past the crinkled unmarked car, hope soared, clenching Cole’s heart and stealing his breath. He stopped and stared, not sure if he could believe his eyes.
* The moon spotlighted Dina standing in the middle of the wreckage, staring at the road, her body shaking. Fright and pain visible in her profile felt like a bullet to his chest, forcing the wind out of his lungs and weakening his muscles.
* Her gaze left whatever caught her attention and she peered over her shoulder. Their gazes locked. In that moment of time, no one else existed, not the swirling bright blue and red lights approaching or the loud sirens demanding attention.

Sinfully Sexy Saturday w. Jacey Holbrand @JaceyHolbrand @evernightpub #SSS #mpreg #SciFi

It's Saturday! Yay! Here's a sinfully good treat by author, Jacey Holbrand, to add to a great day. Welcome!

First, what would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Jacey Holbrand believes love comes in all forms and should be celebrated. She’s committed to her muse and writing so she can share those kinds of stories with readers. Hot days. Sexy nights. Come play in her world.
* Jacey loves to hear from readers! eMail her at JaceyHolbrand@gmail.com

What are you going to tell us about today?
* Thank you for having me on your blog! I’m happy to be here today to let readers know about my newest release, Cooper’s Condition, from my series, The Agency. This series follows a couple, Evan and Seth, and their friends and co-workers as they deal with aliens and the ramifications of their encounters. There’s intrigue, lots of hunky guys, hot sex and men getting knocked up.
* Yep, you read that right.
* Some men get pregnant.
* But you’ll have to read the stories to find out who’s affected, how and what happens. ;) The stories can be read as standalones but for maximum reading enjoyment they should be read in order: The Encounter, Breeding Seth, Cooper’s Condition.
* For now, here’s some information on Cooper’s Condition.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Cooper Hanes has met the love of his life, Doctor Micha Levi, and the chemistry between them is instant and hot. Yet life takes a turn when they go on a fateful trip.
* Alien abduction. Experimentation.
* Cooper’s left to deal with the greatest challenge of the ordeal.
* Being pregnant.
* Can their lives and love survive the aftermath of the encounter and the changes that come with Cooper’s condition?
A gay erotic sci-fi story.
~ Excerpt ~
* Micha’s expressions were so flirtatious and seductive, Cooper’s knees weakened for a moment, but he was able to gather his wits in spite of his raging libido causing him to go all moony eyed. He held out his hand. “I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself earlier. Cooper Hanes.”
* “Micha Levi. Sorry I didn’t stick around to talk, but Doctor Lee and I don’t quite see eye to eye on certain issues, and we find it’s much easier to stay out of each other’s way.”
* When the doctor shook his hand, a pinch of electricity bit into Cooper’s palm. The sexual magnetism he felt between them intensified. “No problem. Totally understand.”
* “So, Cooper, are you new at the hospital?” Micha returned the dumbbells he’d been using to the rack. “How long have you known Doctor Lee?”
* “I’m just there to consult on a couple of cases, help out the athletes who got a bit busted up and need some extra special TLC. Doctor Lee was one of my instructors in college so we go way back.” When he caught Micha wrinkling his nose, he added, “Professionally speaking, that is. I’ve only known him in the educational and work environments. For the most part I work out of the offices of Triumph Physical Therapy. I usually work out at the gym near there or the one near my apartment, but I didn’t feel like driving and losing my motivation along the way.” God, Cooper, stop babbling. He hated being nervous around other men. He needed to get the doctor talking. One, to shut himself up. Two, so he could listen to the slight accent the man had. “What about you? Been at the hospital long? Do you have a special focus in Orthopedics?”
* “I do everything, but my interest really lies in adult spinal disorders and surgery of the spine. It’s delicate and intense work, but to see someone go from constant pain to minimal or no pain and have their quality of life improve is rewarding.”
* “I get that. It’s wonderful to see the positive change in a person’s life when they heal.” A woman walked by and snagged the spot near the dumbbells, but a bench became available. “I want to do some presses. Willing to spot me?”
* “Sure. Lead the way.”
* Micha stood at the head of the bench and placed his hands out toward the bar but didn’t touch it. Cooper grasped the metal pole with fifty pounds worth of weight on either end and lifted it up and over the supports. As he executed a set of reps, he stared at the bulge in the front of Micha’s gym shorts.
* The doctor’s cock… So close yet still so far away.
* With a small sigh disguised in an exhale of exertion, he wondered how he would approach the subject of his and Micha’s sexual preferences, then mentally kicked himself. It wasn’t like this was his first go-round in the dating game. He had no idea why he was acting like a total noob.
* Did the bulge in Micha’s shorts just get bigger?
* Micha cleared his throat.
* Cooper replaced the bar into the support section and gazed up at the man who was leaning forward and staring down at him.
* “Mr. Hanes.” His mouth twisted upwards, not in a true smile but one he probably reserved for difficult patients in which he could silently say, I’m trying to be nice but you’re being irritating. Yet, there was an erotic naughtiness to the dark grin and shadow cast over his eyes. “Are you gay?” Micha’s low voice rolled with a beautiful Arabic tone.
* He swallowed hard and made sure to meet Micha’s gaze full on. “Yes. You?”
* “Yes.”
* A sudden sense of calm and ease filled Cooper, replacing the anxiety and filling him with a burst of confidence. Emboldened, he decided to be direct and very honest, feeling if he were to have a relationship with a doctor, this would be the best tactic to use. “Good. When we’re done here, I want to take you out for a drink and make out with you.”
* For an instant, Micha’s gaze sharpened, seemed to ignite with passionate heat. “Why wait?”

A Look At Iyana Jenna & 'It Never Left' @IyanaJenna @jmsbooksllc #gay #SciFi #erotic

Today we have author Iyana Jenna visiting. Welcome!
What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Iyana writes M/M short stories and novellas. Her works have been published by Evernight Publishing, JMS Books, Books to Go Now, Torquere Press, Bitten Press, Leap of Faith Publishing, Breathless Press, and Alfie Dog Fiction.
* Iyana lives in Jakarta, a city famous for its traffic jams, a lot of cars and motorcycles, and people selling stuff on the roads. You can spend two hours on the road going to a place you can reach in half an hour in a normal situation. Thanks to the traffic jams, though, Iyana can come up with a lot of stories, mostly shorties, as she prefers to spend the time during her trips writing into her cell phone rather than sleeping.
* Another thing Iyana loves is kitties. Right now she has three of them. Their names are Cil, Horus, and Betsy, and one kitten. When she doesn’t write, she plays with them, or they would play with her when she writes.

How do you handle balancing life and writing?
* First off, thank you so much, Casey, for the chance to be on your blog. Your question here is interesting and…tough. :) Let me try to answer it.
* Honestly, right now, I find it’s very hard to balance my life and writing. My life, or let me just say my job here, demands quite a lot of my time. I work the usual 9 to 5 job as an English course book writer and I teach at the evening from 7 to 9 after that. It has always been like that for the past years but it used to be a lot more relaxing and easier for me to focus on my life as a story writer as well. What changed? Well, since October last year, I got promoted as the head of the department where I work. I feel excited and honored, of course, and I try my best to fulfill all my responsibilities.
* I feel proud to be the manager and to tell you the truth, as I’m always quite an ambitious person, this has been one of my goals in my career. To say that I’ve never thought it would be hard to have this position will be a lie. I kind of guessed what being a manager would entail. All those meetings, taking parts in various activities and committees, not to mention taking care of the department itself and my staff. One of the things my former manager told me when they appointed me the job was exactly this; that I would have to step back a little from my writing world (yes, I told her that I publish my stories but I didn’t mention what kind of stories they are. LOL.) to concentrate more on my job. I knew I would have to do that. What I didn’t know was that it wasn’t to step back a little. It was a lot and most of the times I feel too tired and sleepy when I get home. All I want to do is close my eyes and, well, sleep.
* I have to ask for apologies from my friends. I’d still love to put up their promo post on my blog but with the condition I’m in right now I can only post on weekends. I want to ask for their patience because sometimes, no, most of the times, it will take a long time for their post to appear.
* I’ve always said that I like writing into my cell phone when I’m on my way to the office or home. I still try to do that but what usually happens after I write one or two sentences? I nod off and fall asleep. I won’t say I have a writer’s block. I’m just too tired to write.
* Well, this is only the fifth month of me being a manager. Maybe I just need time to adjust. I hope I will get used to everything soon and I will live my other life as a story writer as actively as I did. :)
* Thank you so much for reading!

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* After his boyfriend Jonah Wright defeats the alien queen attacking their hometown, Sean Cross thinks everything is solved and things will go back to normal. But normal no longer exists. Jonah and his other friends look and act too good to be true.
* Sean's suspicions grow after his search for a boy who stayed in Jonah's house, Ryan Godfrey, turns up nothing. It’s as if Ryan no longer exists. Can Sean save his boyfriend, or will he lose Jonah forever? And perhaps the most important question is -- did the alien queen really die?
~ Excerpt ~
* Outside it was dark already but Jonah could still spot a car in the shadow of a tree not far from his house. He closed the door quietly, not wanting to disturb his parents. Luckily they were in the house somewhere -- in the bedroom? -- so he didn’t have to explain himself.
* Jonah crept toward the car. After some time he realized it was Sean's car. What is it now?
* He could make out Sean's shape sitting behind the wheel. The boy literally jumped when Jonah rapped on the window with his knuckles.
* "Jonah!" Sean rolled down the car window.
* "What're you doing here?" Jonah hissed, heedless of Sean's reaction.
* "Jonah, get in the car." The heedlessness was infectious.
* "What? No."
* "Wilder, don't make me force you."
* "What do you want, Sean?" Jonah felt sweat break out on his brow and his hands felt cold. His heart beat so fast he thought he could pass out at any time. He didn’t remember Sean ever being so harsh to him, but he knew the boy was not a bad person. Jonah could easily trust him just as he trusted every single friend at school. What was this all about?
* But first of all he needed to save himself from Sean, who in the meantime had got out of the car.
* "S-Sean ..." Jonah whimpered. Before he knew it, a hand lashed out and his wrist was trapped in an unyielding clutch. "Let ... go! Let me go!" But it was hopeless trying to shake Sean’s hand off his. He couldn’t release himself. Sean wouldn’t let him go.
* A shriek tore out of Jonah's mouth when Sean suddenly whirled him around and squashed his hand to the small of his back. Another hand clamped over Jonah's mouth.
* "I just want you to get in the car, Jonah," Sean whispered in Jonah's ear. "Don't worry. I won't hurt you. Now come."
* Sean mustn’t realize that he’d hurt Jonah and frightened him. Shaking violently, Jonah could only submit as he was dragged toward the car. He muttered under Sean’s hand.
* "Huh?" Sean said in a low voice, and lowered his hand from Jonah's mouth.
* Jonah huffed and turned slightly. "You don't have to do that. I won't make a sound."
* Sean released Jonah's wrist as well. He gave a small nudge to Jonah's shoulder. "Sorry, Jonah," he muttered.
* Jonah flashed a small smile to say that it was okay, and shifted around to get in the car.
* Frowning a little, Sean stepped into the car.
* "Trust me, Jonah," he said slowly. "I won't hurt you. I just ... "
* Jonah stiffened and his eyes bulged as Sean unhurriedly brought his hand toward him.
* "Do you want to kill me, Sean?" Jonah quivered, thinking that there was a knife in Sean's hand.
* Sean's jaw dropped. "What? No." He showed a spray bottle to Jonah. "Don't you remember? It's pepper spray. Give me your hand."
* Jonah complied uneasily. "What are you doing?"
* “Jonah, don’t you remember?”
* Jonah just stared. He really didn’t get it.
* "I’ll just spray a little of it onto your skin, Jonah."
* “And?”
* “You’ll burn if you’re, well, if you’re ...”
* “Burn? If I’m what?” He couldn’t understand Sean. At first he thought no harm would come from the guy, but now he might burn him? What did he actually want from Jonah?
* "Sean, I think ... I think you have to go ... mmp!"
* All of a sudden Sean clamped a hand over Jonah's mouth, effectively cutting off his words and partly obstructing his breathing. Jonah panicked and began to twist about. But Sean, who was much stronger than him, squashed him to the car seat, and even Jonah's flailing free hands could do little to help him.
* Sean seemed to wait for some moments until all Jonah could do was to breathe through his nose. Then he felt something spurted on his skin, and nothing happened. He didn’t know what he’d do or say to Sean, not even to yell at him for having risked burning Jonah’s skin.
* Jonah threw a hand over his brow. His head throbbed all of a sudden. "What did you do to me, Sean?" he mumbled. "My head hurts. I ... I can barely see." Jonah scuffled toward the door on the other side, crawling farther away from Sean. "I ... I'm going to be sick."

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* New York Times/USAToday Bestselling author Cherry Adair’s innovative action-adventure novels have appeared on numerous bestsellers lists, won dozens of awards and garnered praise from reviewers and fans alike. With the creation of her kick butt counterterrorist group, T-FLAC, years before action adventure romances were popular, Cherry has carved a niche for herself with her sexy, sassy, fast-paced, action adventure novels. She hates first drafts, has a passion for mentoring unpublished writers, and is hard at work on a new T-FLAC trilogy. Cherry loves to hear from readers.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* My Military, Romantic Suspense story, Gideon.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* T-FLAC is back in an exciting action-adventure romance filled with danger, subterfuge and steamy, red-hot attraction.
* NO MEMORY OF HIS PAST
* Powerful cartel leader Sin Diaz lives a dangerous life filled with secrets and lies, and surrounded by people who claim to have known him all his life. Yet flashes of another life, totally unrelated to the jungles of Cosio, hang tantalizingly on the edges of his memory. He'll trust no one until he recalls his true past.
* NO DREAMS OF A FUTURE
* T-FLAC operative Riva Rimaldi's mission is simple. Go undercover, learn terrorist Escobar Maza's agenda, then kill him. But when the helicopter she's on crashes deep in the jungle of the small, volatile country of Cosio, she finds herself in the wrong hands. Is the sexy as hell leader of the ANSL, Sin Diaz, the enemy of her enemy, worse than Maza himself? Or is he someone entirely different than his reputation – and will he become her lover?
* TOGETHER THEY HOLD THE KEY
* Sin and Riva must work together to stop a madman who will go to any lengths to attain his terrifying goal. But can they unravel the truth in time? The timer is ticking.
* What they don’t know could get them killed.
~ Excerpt ~
* Her visions were never wrong. They always came true. Could the circumstances leading up to them be changed, and would that change negate the outcome? Possibly. Problem was, she didn't have visions for herself. This vision was Sin's future.
* It told her no matter how much she resisted, how much she fought him, they were going to have sex. Not only were they going to connect, she was damn well going to enjoy it. The future image was so powerful she almost reached an orgasm, as her vision of the future merged with what was happening in the now.
* Her fists unfurled. Her fingers gripped the soft, damp hair on his hot, naked chest as his fingers dug into the balls of her shoulders. No room to move, no way other than to stand on her toes to better reach his mouth. Eyes squeezed tight, Riva lived a duel sensation as he kissed her in the now, and her mind showed her their future in sensual Technicolor.
* The morning sunlight flooding the small hut faded. Cave-like darkness surrounded them, and there was nothing but the feel of him surrounding her. No, damn it. That was the vision. It didn't have to happen. She, like the prisoners, could zig instead of zag. She'd make different choices. Make damn sure that never happened.
* In the now, he was only kissing her. His hands were on her shoulders, holding her in place.
* It was just a kiss.

A Look At April Patterson from 'Elysium' @TheaLanden @decadentpub #1NS #1NightStand #scifi

Today we have April Patterson visiting from the story Elysium. Welcome!

April Patterson, what would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I’ve lived in Connecticut my entire life, though I just recently moved from Bridgeport to West Hartford. Working at Elysium is definitely far more rewarding than my old job at a sandwich shop! I never would have imagined myself living here and working at this kind of job, but then again, for the past two years, I didn’t really envision any sort of future for myself. Though I’ll never forget the past, as it’s shaped who I am and brought me to where I am today, I’m grateful for the fresh start.

Are you happy with the way people perceive you?
* I don’t like anyone to see me as a victim (even though I kind of am, though I’ve been working hard to move forward). I want people to understand my background so they know where I’m coming from, but at the same time, I don’t want their sympathy or pity. Especially pity. I hate that.

Is expressing love difficult for you?
* I’ve never really been an open person with any of my emotions; I have a tendency to keep things to myself. However, there are times where I just feel so strongly, I can’t help but take a risk and tell someone how I much I care for them.

If you were to spend a day with a reader, what would you two do together?
* Stay away from work, that’s for sure! Elysium is one of those strange companies where while we want to stay in business, of course, we feel bad for those who use our services. I’d hope that whoever came to visit wouldn’t be in need of what we offer, so we could go do something fun instead, like eat lunch at one of the quirky restaurants in town.

Where do you see yourself in the future? What do you hope to accomplish?
* I definitely want to finish up my degree. Maybe one day I’ll go on to grad school, but for now, I just want to counsel clients at Elysium as best I can and help them move on in their lives.

Now for some author information!
* My author is Thea Landen.
* Thea Landen lives in New York with her husband and a variety of houseplants. A former educator, she strives to encourage creativity and passion in all those around her, and uses writing to help inspire. Though she reads and writes in nearly all genres, she has a special fondness for science fiction, fantasy, and adventure and anything that pushes the imagination beyond its usual limits. When she’s not writing, or thinking about writing, her hands and mind are occupied by either yarn crafts or role-playing games.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Two years have passed since April Patterson’s husband was shot and killed in the line of duty, and she’s trapped in a haze of grief and uncertainty. Having grown frustrated by all other efforts to engage her in activities where she could meet new people, her cousin pays for a date via 1Night Stand. Not thrilled with the idea, April nevertheless contacts Madame Eve and requests the impossible: a date with her deceased husband.
* Brilliant software engineer Drew Monroe created his company, Elysium, to help give closure to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, through the use of virtual reality. Though passionate about his work, being constantly surrounded by heartache and death has taken a toll on his mental health. When he accepts the case of a young widow referred to him by Madame Eve, her tragic tale depresses him further, but he commits himself to programming April the romantic date she desires.
* April arrives at Elysium and prepares to enter Drew’s virtual realm. Will she find the solace she seeks within? Or will she discover she doesn’t need a fantasy world to discover happiness again?
~ Excerpt ~
* A likeness of April appeared on one of the monitors. For that singular moment, she was mine, the starring character in the show I’d engineered. She explored the world I’d crafted just for her, and a sense of accomplishment melted my heart when she ran her fingers over the grass and smiled. It helped dull the cruelty of the situation, that the woman Madame Eve delivered right to Elysium’s doorstep hadn’t come for me.
* I could have sat there and watched her play in this fictional universe for hours. As it stood, I tried not to think about how soft her hair had felt when I helped put the headset on her or the way her hand gripped mine as if she needed me. But I had a job to do, and it was time to accept this was not a date for us to share together and I had to take on my own role in the production.
* When I input the next commands, Kevin’s avatar joined her in the park. I made sure my own headset sat in place and adjusted the microphone properly. The software altered every word I spoke to come out in his voice, but I still tried to match his cadence and mannerisms. “Hey, kitten,” I said, using his pet name for her.
* I’d seen the same amazement that crossed April’s face a hundred times on previous clients’ faces. Shock, doubt, disbelief, and an overwhelming desire to believe what she saw, all clearly displayed as if I’d read written words. After the surprise wore off, something in her entire demeanor shifted. Her eyes lit up as she gazed upon him, and she reverted back to the woman I’d seen in the photographs. Another pang of envy stabbed through me. No one ever viewed me like that, especially not someone as enthralling as her.

* Matthias and Luras stood on the deck of the Lisbeth, watching the arrows announce their arrival. Nelos and Tylin stood nearby speaking with Captain Dowr. Matthias wore his leather vest with steel ringlets over a maroon woolen tunic. His yellow hair and beard were wet from the breeze. He checked his armor and weapons. He had a sword and a shield. The shield was round and made of reinforced planked wood with an iron center. A short sword and dagger hung from his waist. Luras wore his black leather tunic with steel ringlets and brown leather pants. The hood of his dark green cloak was pushed back. His two sabers were sheathed across his back.
* “Are you ready?” asked Matthias.
* “Yes. How is your back?”
* “Better. Nelos did a good job.”
* “Good,” replied Luras.
* “It will be chaos soon … when we reach the island,” said Matthias.
* “I suspect as much.”
* “Stay close. There will be a push to move forward. It sometimes fails and falls back. Make sure you are not too far forward. Men often find themselves closed in, isolated. They get lost in the fight and find themselves surrounded. Know where you are and where others plan to be. If we stay close and keep our wits, we will live and make it to the ruins,” said Matthias.
* “Good luck to you,” said Captain Dowr, as he approached them.
* “And to you,” replied Matthias.
* “I will be here; you will be there. You can have my luck. You'll need it,” said Captain Dowr, grinning.

A Look At J. J. Lore & 'Ruled' @JJLore1 @evernightpub #PlanetAlpha #menage

Today we have author J. J. Lore visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* J. J. Lore needs three things; strong, black coffee, time to write, and…well…you can guess the third. When she isn’t inventing fantastical tales filled with passionate people, she’s shaking sriracha on whatever she’s eating or reading about the Justinian plague. For updates on her bestselling erotic romance releases, visit her at the links below.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My latest Planet Alpha book, Ruled is now available. It’s part of a special line of sci-fi erotic romances from Evernight Publishing. They’re all stand-alone stories so you can start anywhere and enjoy them in whatever order you prefer.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* This story came from two impulses. First, my critique partner for Unexpected, another Planet Alpha book asked me if Prince Edem, who briefly appears in that story, would be getting a book of his own. I guess he made an impression. Second was my other male character, Mallet, getting into my head and grumbling that Prince Edem always got all the attention and he’d like to get a chance to be a hero in a book someday.

Describe the hero in five words.
* I have two heroes, so I’ll just pick Mallet: smart, confident, sophisticated, strong, and protective.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Corrine is humble, industrious, brave, kind, and loving.

If ménage/multiple partners, then pick a third hero or heroine to describe in five words.
* Oh, good, now I can talk about Prince Edem! He’s impetuous, passionate, open, arrogant, and loyal.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Mallet. He’s so conscientious about taking care of everything his bondmate the Prince needs; security, food, comfort. He also discovers he has room in his heart for another love when he meets Corrine, no matter how difficult the sacrifice.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* That wide chest she’d sheltered against before was somehow bare and hers to touch so she ran her hands along the sweeps of muscle, threaded her fingers through the hair that dusted it, raised herself up to lick first one pebbled nipple, then the other.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* While on a clandestine visit to Earth, Prince Edem of Alpha and his bondmate Mallet by chance meet a humble cook who intrigues them. The impulsive prince feels a brief fling with an exotic human female sounds like the perfect way to conclude their travels, while his more pragmatic bondmate urges caution.
* Despite all the reasons to avoid her, the Alphans seek her out, intrigued by her prickly pride and defiant disposition. For her part, Corrine is intimidated by these imposing and mysterious alien men, but finds herself overwhelmed by their determined courtship.
* Edem and Mallet convince themselves their deepening feelings for Corrine do not have to include bonding, since such a commitment is forbidden by the King and subjects of Alpha, determined to keep the bloodline pure. But when danger threatens, the three are forced to choose between having the galaxy at their feet or losing each other forever.
~ Excerpt ~
* They made her shake. She’d thought it was first with anger, then fear, but as Mal eased his mouth against hers while Edem circled his fingers down her back, she knew she was shaking with lust. How had she gotten here? She’d been so insulted by the gift she’d rushed to them thoughtlessly and had somehow admitted to them she was frightened of sex, but now was barely able to keep on her feet for the heat blooming in her pussy.
* Someone’s hands were pulling at the hem of her shirt, and she drew away from Mal to glance down and discover Edem had insinuated his fingertips underneath the material and was now rubbing along her bare waist. Her skin tingled. Mal reached for her buttons and had the front of her shirt open before she realized what was happening. When the cool air reached her nearly exposed breasts, she automatically reached to bring the edges back together, her breath rushing in and out with a mix of desire and caution.
* “Let us see and touch. Just here,” Edem said softly as he caressed her lower back. Mal stared at her, his eyes darkening as he gave a slight nod. It was stupid to even consider it, but she seemed to be doing lots of stupid things lately. This could be the test. She could say no and hope they would stop. Would they let her control this? She didn’t want to say no yet, though. She sucked in a breath and urged her stiff fingers to cooperate as she released her grip on the shirt. She was wearing a bra, so she could say no when then tried to remove that final layer and expose her.
* Edem let out a sigh and tugged at her sleeves, her blouse falling from her shoulders. She couldn’t stop her shiver as the cool air trickled across her back and stomach. Mal tightened his grip on her waist, and with a start she realized he had a sizeable erection and it was pressed into her belly. Normally, she’d shy away, but somehow knowing how aroused he was pleased her rather than made her anxious.
* Mal trailed his fingers along her collarbones. “You’re lovely.”
* “So delicate,” Edem chimed in, and she glanced at him, wondering what he thought of her faded, repaired bra. He was a powerful man on his planet and was probably used to women who were perfumed, groomed, and attired in beautiful chiffons and laces. She failed on all counts.
* Sliding his hand along her side, Edem cupped one of her breasts, pushing her flesh slightly up. Her nipple contracted in a painful nub, and she inhaled deeply. He ran his thumb over the sensitized bit of flesh, and the material of her bra bit into her.
* Mal dipped his head her way, long strands of his dark hair trailing along her bare shoulders. He pressed a kiss to the top swell of the breast Edem was holding, and she shook at the sensation of both of them caressing her in synchronicity. She clenched her hands in confusion. She wanted to touch them but wasn’t sure how. She’d always been confused and tense with the few men she’d been with, which had undoubtedly contributed to her discomfort with the act.
* Soft lips nibbled at her neck, and she leaned away from him, not to avoid the touch as she should, but to allow him more room. The ticklish sensations crept over her nerves, and she compulsively reached up to clutch at Edem’s head, her fingers sinking into his surprisingly silky hair. He bit her throat gently in response, and a surprised moan burst from her. Before she could think further, Mal had fastened his mouth over her nipple and pressed his teeth to the sensitized flesh. Her whole body jolted uncontrollably, and she cried out, unable to hold back the sound of surprise and excitement.
* “It would be better without this,” Edem whispered in her ear as he ran his fingers under the shoulder strap of her bra. Mal rumbled against her breast, and she reached her other hand out to trace into his hair, careful to avoid those curving horns. “May I?”

Look At Gary and Linda Cargill & 'Key to Lawrence: Special Edition' @GoddessFish #Cargills #thriller

Today we have authors Gary and Linda Cargill visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* The Cargills docked at Southampton and explored the South of England in preparation for this thriller, Key to Lawrence. They also sailed the North Atlantic just like Dora Benley. But their transatlantic voyages were on the Queen Mary 2 instead of the Lusitania. They made use of the American Southwest where they live to depict the Syrian Desert that was home to Lawrence of Arabia. Visit their website. Read their blog. Linda also has a Facebook Fan Page.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* Our historical thriller, fiction story, Key to Lawrence: Special Edition.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Water rushed into the four, great smoke stacks of the ship as they, too, hit the waves. Tremendous, churning whirlpools sucked victims inside. A few were ejected, blackened with soot. Propellers rose above the maelstrom. The rudder lifted higher than the smoke stacks. The ship's prow pointed down toward the deep. It looked as if the ship's nose would hit the sea bed hundreds of feet below. The Lusitania sank in only 18 minutes after being torpedoed on May 7, 1915. Dora Benley vowed revenge on the enemy. Key to Lawrence tracks the beginning of her quest for justice in this special edition of the first volume of the Edward Ware Thriller Series. It commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Great War.
~ Excerpt ~
Manhattan — Saturday, May 1, 1915
* The stranger stared at Dora’s package. A wide-brimmed hat shaded his face, revealing only a dark beard and mustache. Smoking a small, cheap, stubby cigar, dressed in a nondescript, ill-fitting dark suit, the man strutted towards her in a menacing fashion. Blueish-white cigar smoke curled upward in a lazy corkscrew. It vanished into the air several yards above his head.
* Twenty-year-old Dora Benley quickly stuffed the surprise birthday gift for her father into her satchel. Holding a green parasol edged with black fringe over her head she skirted crowds of well-dressed, gossiping passengers waiting to board the Lusitania. Dressed in a full-length, aquamarine dress with white lace around the sleeves, Dora moved as far away from the intruder as she could without falling off the edge of the pier.
* She searched impatiently for her parents. They were supposed to rendezvous with her at 11:00 AM. By now it was almost noon!
* A man and woman reporting team burst upon the crowd at Cunard’s Pier 54. They were trailed by a photographer and his assistants carrying a large folding camera and a tripod. The reporters hurled themselves at the passengers.
* “What do you think of the German announcement?” The male reporter thrust a copy of The New York Times at Dora. He pointed to the advertisement prominently displayed on the front page.
