A Look At Nicola Cameron & 'A Boon by Moonlight' ( @YesItsNicolaC @evernightpub #SO )

Today we have author Nicola Cameron visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Nicola Cameron has had a healthy interest in sex since puberty, but it wasn't until 2012 that she decided to write about it. Turns out that the skills picked up during her SF writing career transfer rather nicely to erotic romance and erotica -- who knew?
* Her M/M/M erotic romance short story "Tied With a Bow" is available in VANILLA-FREE CHRISTMAS: MANLOVE EDITION from Evernight Publishing. With regard to novels, she is currently editing STORM SEASON, the first book in her planned Olympic Cove fantasy erotic romance series, and finishing BEHIND THE IRON CROSS, a dark MMF erotic romance set in Weimar Republic-era Berlin.
* When not writing, she's usually making Stuff(TM), kissing her husband, or entertaining her cats.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* I'm here to talk about my first Romance on the Go story for Evernight Publishing, "A Boon by Moonlight." "Boon" follows the story of Zach Mayhew, an ex-Marine and plant nursery owner who caring for his dying grandmother. One night, she tells Zach a story -- she had an affair with a fairy noble before she was married, and he promised her that she could spend her last days in Faerie. She asks Zach to summon one of the Sidhe to fulfill that promise.
* Humoring her, Zach treks out to the woods in the middle of the night to find a fairy ring and recite the summoning spell she taught him. Much to his shock, the spell works, and a tall, handsome, and extremely snarky sidhe named Jerrek shows up. Jerrek agrees to take Gram back to Faerie in the morning, on one condition -- Zach spends the night with him first. And hijinks ensue!

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I very much enjoy writing sharp, funny banter in the vein of The Thin Man, and one day I came up with the idea of a Sidhe noble arguing with a human as a way of flirting with him. The story grew from that one scene, and turned out to be surprisingly sweet and tender -- apparently it made the editor cry.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Zach -- has a heart of gold

Describe the other hero in five words.
* Jerrek -- really needs a good spanking.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Jerrek, because he's hiding an aching loneliness behind a witty, intelligent, and slightly dangerous facade. I like characters with multiple layers to them, and Jerrek definitely fits that description.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* Zach stopped, satisfied with having made a Sidhe warrior giggle like a six-year-old girl.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Ex-Marine Zach Mayhew is willing to do anything for his dying grandmother, even find a fairy ring and beg that she be allowed to spend her last days in Faerie. But when a gorgeous Sidhe noble steps out of the ring and demands a night in his bed as payment, Zach learns that a boon asked by moonlight can have unexpected consequences for his heart.

~ Excerpt ~
* Growling under his breath, Zach went back upstairs and yanked his bedroom door open. "Oh."
* Jerrek was already in bed. His outfit had been neatly folded over the old straight back chair in the corner, and the sidhe himself was nude and stretched out over Zach's faded blue bedcover. His long, shining brown hair filmed his body just as Zach imagined, revealing tantalizing glimpses of corded arms, a firm chest, and a set of abs that looked like cobblestones. Zach's gaze continued down, falling on the long, slim cock that was already starting to harden, laying in a graceful curve over one muscled thigh.
* The sidhe propped his head up on one hand. "It took you long enough. I was starting to worry that you'd forgotten me," he commented with a smirk.
* "Just -- just wanted to get Gram to bed," Zach managed. "Make sure she was asleep."
* "And is she?"
* "Yeah."
* Jerrek reached out to him. "Well, then. Come to me."
* Wondering if he was in a dream, Zach stepped forward and took the proffered hand. Suddenly he found himself pulled over the sidhe like a human-shaped blanket. "Since you prefer to top and all," Jerrek purred.
* Zach could feel the heat rising from the other man's body, warming him through. Jerrek's smirk shifted, turning into a smile. It was both challenge and invitation, and Zach lowered his head until he could just brush his lips across that curved mouth. A tingling jolt went through him, dancing across his nerve endings and grounding out in his groin.
* He gasped and Jerrek took advantage of that, kissing him back and running the tip of his tongue around Zach's lips. The kiss softened, deepened, until their tongues were dueling slickly against each other.
* With a soft growl, Jerrek pulled back, sucking in a breath as he did. "You're wearing entirely too many clothes," he said, rubbing his naked groin against Zach's still clothed one. "Take them off at once."
* Zach couldn't help grinning at the order. "Are you always this bossy?"
* "I prefer to think of it as authoritative. What part of 'sidhe lord' didn't you grasp?"
* "Well, now that you mention it—" Zach slid a hand between their bodies, curling his fingers around the other man's shaft and squeezing gently. Jerrek's mouth opened in a soft groan and he squirmed, bucking into Zach's grip.
* "I've never had anyone talk back to me the way you do," he breathed. "It's really very refreshing."
* Zach grunted at that, focusing on what was in his hand. Skin so soft it almost didn't register against his fingertips, and beneath that hardness and a heat that pulsed against his palm. He stroked up, letting his thumb brush across the tip, and felt a bead of wetness there. "I think you like it," he murmured. "You need someone who isn't going to stand still for your shit."
* "I would hardly call it—" Jerrek's complaint was cut off as Zach kissed him again, luring his tongue out and sucking on it. Jerrek moaned into his mouth, then again as he pulled away, laying a trail of open-mouthed kisses along the sidhe's jaw and down his neck. "Oh, that's nice. Don't stop."

A Look At Morgan King & 'Duty to Love' ( @EroticWritings @evernightpub #SO )

Today we have author Morgan King visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Hello everyone! The first thing to say is I’m so excited to be here. This is all very new for me; I’m normally at the day job. Helping to create positive change is really important to me so as well as getting involved in lots of community projects I work in Charity Management. When I’m not at work I’m often being a princess, pirate, monster or whatever takes my four year olds fancy.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My first book Duty to Love, a regency ménage, is stand alone, but I enjoyed writing it so much I’ve started another set in a similar period.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I’m a huge Jane Austen fan - when I was younger I named my dog Darcy - so writing a regency romance really appealed. I also love ménage, as I enjoy reading a man’s point of view and feeling the depth of his emotion, with two men there is all the more of this. The story itself came from the question I posed myself of how might a happily ever after ménage actually come about during regency times. When I first started thinking about this story it was important to me that it be well crafted and convincing: a regency ménage that doesn’t require a complete suspension of belief. I hope I’ve succeeded.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Noble, dominant, caring of others.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Innocent, passionate, all natural woman.

If ménage/multiple partners, then pick a third hero or heroine to describe in five words.
* Second Hero ~ Impetuous, dashing, and very endearing.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* That’s really hard to say, the three central characters are so closely bound together. At a push I’d say Arthur as he is the lead hero and it is his honourable intentions and giving nature that allows love to grow between the three. I admire Arthur, but have a soft spot for James.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* The one I most enjoyed writing was when James said this to Arthur: “I would be in agony. I am already in agony. If I thought I could kill you I would call you out. If I thought I could hurt you the first you would have seen of me would have been my fist.”

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Duty to Love is an erotic regency romance; the story of two brothers and the one woman they have both fallen in love with…
* A craftily worded contract and fate finds Arthur, Earl of Hentonury, having to marry not the lady he expected but her younger sister Amelia, the woman he knows his brother James loves and hoped to marry. Arthur cares for both Amelia and James how can he choose between his love for them and his duty?
* James may be the younger son, but he has taken leave from the Army and will fight for Amelia.
* Torn between her feelings for two brothers Amelia wishes to marry Arthur but can't bear to lose James.
* Is there any chance the three of them can find happiness together? Will duty or love win out?

~ Excerpt ~
* Amelia let herself be kissed, and she reveled in the flurry of sensations her lips were experiencing. Greedy for more she let her hands roam freely over James's back, tracing the shape of his muscles, over his powerful shoulders to the unclothed skin of his nape.
* James's hands tightened on her, pulling her closer, until their hips pressed as close as their chests. Amelia felt breathless, heady. It was a novel sensation. She'd never been one for allowing her corset to be laced too tight. She'd never imagined Arthur could make her feel like fainting.
* But, oh God, it wasn't Arthur kissing her. Amelia jerked trying to free herself of James's hold. Arthur was watching her. He was watching her kiss another man. She was kissing her fiancé's brother while he watched.

A Look At David Gelber & 'Minotaur Revisited' ( @GoddessFish #SO )

Today we have author David Gelber visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I am a surgeon and author. I’ve written five books, two short stories and numerous articles on a variety of topics. I spend most of my time attending to sick people, but commit my sometimes bizarre thoughts to paper when I find the time.
* Bio follows: David Gelber, a New York native, is the seventh of nine sons and one of three to pursue medicine. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1980 and went on to graduate medical school in 1984 from the University of Rochester.
* He completed his residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, followed by three years as attending surgeon at Nassau County Medical Center in Long Island, N.Y. Gelber has since joined Coastal Surgical Group in Houston, Texas.
* Gelber has been a surgeon for more than 20 years, but over the last few years he began to pursue his passion for writing, initially with his debut novel, "Future Hope" (Emerald Book Company, January 2010). The novel speculates about future Earth and what the world might have been like if man had not succumbed to temptation in the Garden of Eden. "Joshua and Aaron" is a sequel to "Future Hope" and follows the battle of wills that transpires between unsung hero Joshua Smith and satanic Aaron Diblonski.
* Dr. Gelber has added two books about surgery, "Behind the Mask" and "Under the Drapes", both of which provide the reader with a view of the world of surgery rarely seen by those outside the medical professions.
* "Last Light" is an apocalyptic short story which starts off asking the question: "What would happen if nobody ever was sick or injured?"
* Gelber was raised in reformed Judaism, but joined the Presbyterian Church 15 years ago. He is married with three teenage children, four dogs and 24 birds of various species. His interests include horse racing, mechanical Swiss watches and, of course, writing.

What book are you going to tell us about today?
* Minotaur Revisited starts as a retelling of the Minotaur myth from Greek mythology, which then takes off on a wild ride over thousands of years of history. The noble Minotaur helps shape and reshape history as we know it, offering new perspective and insights into everything from Moses to Dracula and the Holocaust.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* My Muse, people always ask about my Muse. She’s such a devilish little imp. She shows up at the most inopportune times. There I was, deep in the pelvis of a very sick lady, trying to liberate a particularly nasty colon, when who shows up. You guessed it, good old Muse. As I was trying to concentrate on the surgery at hand, this devilish lady starts whispering in my ear. “make the Minotaur meet Picasso. Picasso loved to draw him.” Needless to say I waved the pesky lady away and went back to trying to save my poor patient (who pulled through, by the way). But later on I realized that my pesky little Muse was right. Picasso became part of the story.
* Serously, I started to write a satirical short story which reversed the roles of Theseus and the Minotaur of mythology. The Minotaur was a mythical monster with the body of a man and the head of a bull. He was locked away in the Labyrinth and every seven or nine years a tribute of Athenian maids and youths was devoured by him. In Minotaur Revisited, however, the Minotaur is a far different beast. He is gentle and sensitive, while Theseus, his supposed slayer, is the real scoundrel. Theseus allows the Minotaur to escape the Labyrinth. After his escape the story was supposed to end. Instead, it just kept going and blossomed into a novel.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Half bull half man

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Beautiful, hairy wolf girl

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Alena, blind orphan raised by the Minotaur. She uses her disability to her advantage, is assertive and eventually becomes Queen of Sheba. She is abandoned by her family at age two, because of her blindness. The Minotaur is living in the African jungle at the time and discovers her among the abandoned huts. His first thought is to leave her alone to die. She clings to his chest, however, and his heart melts for her. She grows into a truly great woman of power.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* I was born the Minotaur and I’ll die the Minotaur. I’m not a handsome noble prince or King trapped in an enchanted, beastly body.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Legend states that the Minotaur was confined to the Labyrinth, slain by Theseus and then laid to rest by thousands of years of Greek mythology. But, the truth is far different. Read the Minotaur’s own words as he recounts his full life as god, king, warrior, matchmaker, midwife, monk, sage, father, mother, husband and, most of all, witness. The fierce Minotaur lived to see and be a part of the best and worst of humanity during a life spanning thousands of years. Part bull, part human, the Minotaur struggled to find his place in this world and, in the end, left his unique mark on history.

~ Excerpt ~
* The President of the university stood before the multitude that packed the auditorium, a crowd composed of students, professors, politicians, religious leaders, and visiting dignitaries.
* “Ladies and gentleman, I present to you ‘The Minotaur,’ the half-bull half-man resident of the Labyrinth of Crete, beast of myth and legend.”
* A well-dressed being approached the podium. He was over six feet tall with the body of a man and the head, neck, and shoulders of a bull. Fingering the lapel of his perfectly-tailored black suit, his fingers were neatly manicured with a gold band on the left fourth finger and a gold watch on his left wrist. His polished and pointed horns sparkled from the stage as he began speak:
* Let me just say from the start that the majority of the writing and artistic depictions of me have been utter lies; fabrications woven by jealous and envious individuals who cannot believe that someone who is different from the norm can be anything but a monster. I mean, look at me; does the sight of me make you want to run and hide? I admit I’m different, but aren’t we all different outwardly. It’s really what’s inside that counts. At least that’s what people say, all those clichés that do nothing but irritate me: “Beauty is only skin deep; beauty is in the eye of the beholder; it’s what’s in your heart that counts,” and on and on. Let me tell you up front that I did not choose to look this way. My odd appearance is purely an accident of birth. One is never allowed to choose one’s parents, and in my case my exact parentage can only be called, at best, murky.
* It seems my mother, Pasiphae, times being what they were, was not averse to sharing her affections with any willing person. She was not what one would call “discriminating,” even though she was married to the king. And King Minos, from what I was told, was more concerned with affairs of state, than affairs of the heart. It seems that over the course of a week or so, Pasiphae shared her affections with no less than twenty different suitors and she did her best to bestow favor on each. One of them was somewhat “bullish” in his affections, at least that is how she described his advances.
* Perhaps, my unusual appearance is a joke played by the gods. Perhaps the particular suitor who fathered me was one of the gods. Or maybe I’m simply a genetic freak, a mutant. I do know for a fact that she did not mate with the famed white “Cretan Bull,” that particular story being part of the myth that surrounds me. Of course, the origin of my unique physique (how clever, that rhymes) is of no consequence. I am what I am, to quote Popeye, and that’s all that I am. I’m Quinton, the Minotaur Man. In actuality, my name is Quinton Arbus Taurus Aegus Minos, but please, just call me the Minotaur; the name commands respect.
* At least far more than “Quint.”
* I was lucky my mother was the Queen. If I had been born of the common folk, no doubt, I would have been cast into the sea to drown; it seems that a mother’s love had some limitations in those days. However, being a prince, of sorts, I was safe. My mother treated me as every mother should; she protected me, kept me safe, guarding me and threatening any would be assailant with summary execution should they attempt to harm me in any way. She did her best to educate me, but she herself was not the brightest star in the sky. Still, she was my mother and I wouldn’t be talking to you today except for her. However, even a queen has restrictions to her influence. Minos saw me as a means to establish political order and maintain his power throughout the ancient world. When I was twelve, he built the Labyrinth and shut me inside. It was quite an elaborate maze, really. Its sides were nearly twenty feet high and were composed of dense shrubbery barbed with razor sharp thorns. The only escape was to find one’s way through the complex maze and, trust me, this was a daunting task. I was in there for years and I never found my way. And believe me, I searched and studied endlessly. I tried to mark my trail, but there was something about those bushes that made fruitless any and all attempts to escape.
* All I could do was wait. I wasn’t completely idle, however; I tended a garden in the middle of that enormous maze, growing figs, dates, olives, and grapes. A colony of bees settled nearby and every autumn treated me to combs of very fine honey. The stories accusing me of devouring young maidens and feckless youths are pure lies. Surely, you are aware that we bovines are strictly vegetarian. I know what you’re thinking; I’m at least partly human, but you can surely surmise that I am not such a barbarian as to be a cannibal? Those young people were delivered into the Labyrinth; that much is true, but I rarely saw any other human. They usually died of exposure and malnutrition, being lost for days and weeks among the endless twists and turns. Once in a while I would encounter a young lad or maid and would do my best to help, but they would flee in fright, and more than once they were flayed open by the razor-sharp spines that grew on that accursed hedge. Thus, my reputation was born. I was the feared Minotaur who devoured his victims every nine years. And what did I do all the rest of the time? Sit in the center of the Labyrinth, howl at the moon, and do Soduko? Give me a break; I’m not a beast, you know. These stories acted as propaganda spread by Minos to maintain control of his conquered territories. The implied threat, that the fierce Minotaur would be released and wreak havoc on the helpless inhabitants of the ancient world, was all Minos needed to maintain his power. And it would have continued for years if it hadn’t been for that scoundrel, Theseus.
