Welcome special guest: author Doris O'Connor ( @mamaD8 @evernightpub #shifters #paranormal )

Today we have author Doris O'Connor visiting. She says: Writer of all things naughty, I like to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

So, Doris, what inspired you to become a writer?
* I've always spun stories in my head, for as far back as I can remember, but it was a writing competition that spurred me into action to really give this writing thing a go.

When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
* September 2010 I entered that aforementioned writing competition. It was a first chapter competition and I carried on and finished that story. Back then it was called What Are The Odds? It was just under 50 K long. I sent it off to a few publishers, got rejections, albeit with positive feedback.
* I put it to one side for a bit, and carried on writing other stories, but Sven, the hero in that book kept niggling at me, telling me I could write the story better.
* By that time I had found my erotic feet so to speak, so eventually opened a brand new word document and re-wrote the story. It weighed in just under 60 K this time.
* Significantly hotter and renamed Scandinavian Scandal it was published back in November 2011 :)

How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
* Five. They're all published now.

What genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What’s your favorite genre of all to write in?
* I write both contemporary and paranormal, and across several subgenres. BDSM is my favourite to write and elements of it will find themselves into every one of my stories. I've also written f/f and I love writing a good ménage.

What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
* Best: Write the stories in your heart, the way your characters tell them, and just let the words flow.
* Worst: You need to follow the formula! (Yeah, that's never gonna work for me.)

How do you celebrate/deal with acceptance/rejection letters?
* Acceptance: I squeal, tell my hubby and my crit group, dance around like a loon, and then get on with the next story.
* Rejection: Mutter under my breath, tell my hubby and my crit group, eat lots of chocolate, may or may not have a wobble of confidence, then pull up my big girl panties. Depending on whether I agree with any feedback or not, I will do revisions or not, and then sub it again or elsewhere.

In regard to the book you’re promoting, which actor and actress do you envision playing the roles of your hero and heroine? If there’s a villain or other characters who are pertinent to the story, who would play those parts?
* Alexander Skarsgard is my visual inspiration behind my heroes, so it would have to be him in the role and maybe his brother Gustaf as the other brother… *swoons a little*
* Megan Fox for the heroine, because my teen boys have a huge crush on her, and I would get a kick out of seeing them squirm, knowing their mum wrote those sex scenes.
* *evil grin*

The book you’re promoting, is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? If it’s part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.
* The Orgasm Project is a stand-alone Romance on the Go story. However, I may have to write another one for my heroine's friend, Maria. She's been niggling at me. :)

*** Now for some fun info… ***
Are you a cat, dog or both kind of person?
* Def both, we have two dogs and one cat

Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?
* Warm weather is my favourite. Warm enough to go out in just shirt sleeves, but not so hot that you get all sweaty :)

Are you a morning person or night owl?
* A night owl. I do most of my writing at night.

A Romance on the Go story. Evernight's Romance on the Go TM short stories are the perfect length to enjoy in the waiting room, on the bus, during breaks, or in bed at night.
* What's a girl to do when her best friend confides her inability to orgasm? Set up the Orgasm Project of course, and Maria knows just the guys to do it. Her hot as Hades brothers might be full of themselves, but at least they're safe. What can possibly go wrong?
* Anastasia wants the ground to swallow her whole, when she meets the twins. How embarrassing can this be, even if the gorgeous hunks set her knickers aflame with just one look?
* Jake and Carter know their mate when they see her, and nothing is going to stop these cougar shifters from claiming her. Their night of passion leads to discoveries neither one of them is prepared for.
* Has their bite awakened a monster or their destiny?
Be Warned: menage (MFM) sex
Interesting tibit about The Orgasm Project:
* This story started as a 250 word flash from the following word prompt: Not even once.
* I had my heroine immediately. Unable to orgasm with a man she was frustrated and sitting in a bar with her best friend, admitting to this fact. They were watched over by two drop-dead-gorgeous hunks and the rest, as they say, is history.
* As I sat down to write the full story, things became much clearer, and I had great fun creating this world. :)

~ Excerpt ~

* "What if I don't want to go home with you?"
* She opened her eyes to find Jake smiling down at her. Carter's gaze, too, sought hers through the rear view mirror, and a shiver of unease went down her spine at the disapproval she read in his eyes—eyes that bled from blue to golden and back again as she watched in stunned fascination.
* "What are you?" The question left her lips before she could stop herself, and she inwardly groaned at her stupidity.
* "You know what we are." Jake said, his hot breath a whisper's breadth away from her neck as he sniffed her again. "Look into yourself and tell me that you don't feel this connection. I know you do. Your body gives you away as surely as your sweet scent. You're wet for us just thinking about what we might do to you, and that's not fear I can smell, but arousal. You want us as much as we want you, have wanted you from the first moment we caught your scent all those months ago."
* "You can't be serious."
