Welcome special guest: author Minnette Meador

Welcome Minnette!
Minnette writes historical romance, paranormal, urban fantasy, epic fantasy, and even children's books, as M. A. Smith. Her bio: Somewhere between thirty and dust...red hair, blue eyes...six kids, one slightly used husband, and any number of pets from time to time... wanttabe hippy... wanttheirmoney yuppie... pro musician and actress for 20 Years... native Oregonian... lover of music, beauty, and all things green. Willing slave to the venerable muse. Minnette currently resides in Portland, Oregon with her husband, having replaced the children with one dog. The dog, Pierre, pretty much runs the show.
Today she’s talking about her release: A Ghost of a Chance. It’s a paranormal romantic comedy available at Resplendence Publishing
Book Link or via Kindle

Blurb for A Ghost of a Chance
Keenan Swanson is your typical, everyday graphic designer. Well, except for the hundreds of pesky, prank-loving poltergeists that make his life interesting (in a Chinese curse sort of way). He finds his situation precarious yet manageable—until witty, smoking-hot coworker Isabella enters the scene and Keenan decides he wants her all for himself. With a horny succubus who has other ideas, a burly city cop determined to lock Keenan away, and an evil entity who’s hell-bent on using Keenan’s seed to create a living demon, the reluctant psychic realizes he just might not come out of this alive—or with heart intact.

Excerpt for
A Ghost of a Chance
Keenan headed down Thirty-second Street, turned left onto Hawthorn, and ran like an antelope with a lion biting his tail.
When he hit the crowd outside Taps at full speed, he came to a crashing halt and sailed to the ground, taking down two brawny beer drinkers, their respective girlfriends, and an innocent table that was sitting there minding its own business. Four obviously filled pints of stout flew through the air and the contents rained down on the struggling quintet in a dark brown shower, soaking all of them. Two of the empty pints hit Keenan squarely on the back of the head, one after the other.
The tangled pile of human beings and beer began to disentangle itself, but Keenan’s head was spinning wildly. So wildly, in fact, that he didn’t feel himself roughly yanked to his feet and then off of them, or see the swollen fist appear out of thin air until it was too late. All he heard was a distant son of a bitch and the sound of meaty flesh striking cheekbone.
The sparklers that gleamed in front of his eyes reminded him of the Fourth of July on the coast. He found himself down on the ground again.
“…you stupid prick!” The words soaked into his stupor and he squinted up to see six-foot-six of angry male mountain, a pleading red head attached to the man’s arm.
Not that it would have stopped another blow, but Keenan forced his hands into the submissive position and tried to find his voice. “Oh, man…” he said to the mountain. “I’m really sorry. Are you all right?”

Good morning, every one else! We had such a great time yesterday talking about lists, I thought maybe today we could talk about favorite places. The tavern Taps in the book is Keenan's favorite hangout, what's yours and why do you like it?

Good morning Minnette, Another great stop and an interesting question.

Favorite Places:
Fairplay (Colorado) - Well really its just far enough outside of town, and in the middle of nowhere enough that I can see every star at night, hear the coyotes howl, listen to the badgers scamper, wake up to antelope grazing, and on a calm night can hear the traffic on the highway about 15 miles away. It was home for almost a year, and can I just say no electricity, not the best part, but the peace and serenity were priceless.

Denver - See here I have to admit to two.
Dino's- a cute Italian Restaurant where the pizza is made to order, the only salad dressing is the house homemade secret recipe, and the garlic bread melts in your mouth. Oh and add the fact that a teen could afford it on their allowance, it was heaven just a few blocks from Gram's.
and Casa Bonita- a funky Mexican restaurant in a big pink building that was the cornerstone of a strip mall. Yes, I know, laugh worthy, but it's true. The design of the building was replicating one in Mexico City. The reason this place makes the list is simple, all you can eat meals, hot sopapillas and honey, an indoor waterfall complete with dinner show, and cliff diving, a hidden cave with scary stuff for the kids, a puppet theater, old time sepia pictures, I could go on really, oh yeah and the best sangria a girl could find.

Chicago- The Museum of Science and Industry, Field Museum, Navy Pier, and Taste of Chicago. My Aunt used to go to the Museums with me every year, we'd take a day and go roam them, making a stop at the pier for lunch or a movie. As for Taste, it's food, music and fun. Usually the last week of June through the Fourth of July. Crowded, but well worth it to try different foods, listen to great bands, and just enjoy the Chicago lakeside.

Houston: Showboat Drive-In. It's a drive in, need I say more? I love movies, and I love trucks. I can't resist the drive-in, especially as theater prices rise, and they are still affordable for a double feature.

Good afternoon Minnette :)

I would love to travel the world one day and discover many new favourite places. For now my favourites places are close to home, and fortunately there are not many places I would rather be.

They also include the library. This is where I am in book heaven and really get to meet new authors. I love finding hidden gems, books published awhile ago but are lost between the stacks. Some of my favourites and the greatest stories came from there.

I love my home's kitchen. I really can't cook but it's where I can find food and nourishment. I can't resist the sizzle of oil, the smell of freshly baked cookies or occasionally something burning LOL. (Actually that I can resist).

I love my room. I am contantly re-arranging things and it is my personal space and the most comfortable. Love the bed and the overstuffed bookcases.

I love my hometown. It's a broad place to list but then again I love it the whole of it. The mountains, the parks, the people, the farmer's markets and lakes.

Enjoy your day :)

Hi Minnette--

I don't understand this "subscribe feed" to be able to post a comment. I kept clicking and clicking until I was able to post one. You really have vivid writing. I can see why you shine as a paranormal writer.

PS. I'm a bit late but also posted a comment on yesterday's blog. You've got a most interesting blog tour.

Hmmm...places huh.. does inside my head count? ~grin~ I would have to say my bed is my fav place because it is where I read and write most.

Julian Alexander said...

Now that is a good question. I like Tina's answer. The bed for sure, but only if my wife is in it with me.

Hi, Tammy! I LOVE my computer... I think it is surgically attached somehow...

LOL, Nicole... Don't worry; Keenan comes out okay in the end... or does he?

Jean - Aw, the comfy chair. Is there nothing better? I think not!

Thanks, Joni! Got you in there...

Christiana - You have so many places! I would love to visit Chicago... my dad was born in Waukeegan and the Fields Museum hooked me up with a marshal artist who specialized in Roman combat.

Kanya - Would also love to visit Montreal! Maybe a book signing... hmmm.... :o)

I LOVE book cafes, Brigitte - There is an amazing one in Old Town Newport, Oregon. One of my favorites!

Hi, Na - You are so poetic! Your town sounds amazing... :o)

Hey, Bookwyrm! You are more than welcome.

Thanks, Vonnie! I'm so sorry you had problems. Hmmmm... I'll take a look when I get done here. :o)

The inside of your head absolutely counts, Tina... I visit there all the time myself. It's amazing what stuff rolls around.

Oh, you devil, Julian! I actually live on my bed when it's hot here... it's the only place that has air conditioning. And my husband is in it too... :o)

Thanks, Chelsea B.!

Yeah, Chelsea R!!! I really hope you like it. :o)

Thanks, Carol - We have a front yard that's like that with a covered porch and swing. I have a book store here that's like that. I do signings there from time to time and they have an amazing collection of used books. Nothing like a good book, a cup of coffee and a cozy chair! :o)
