She should have turned tail and ran the moment the poster boards in the hotel entrance advertising the bachelor auction came into view. Sally, apparently sensing her intent to escape, had clutched her arm, inhibiting her chance to flee.
Rubbing the tender area on her bicep, she cast a glance over her shoulder. The older woman’s thin lips pressed into a smug grin, enhancing the small laugh lines around her eyes.
Of course she’d be pleased with herself. She tricked me into coming.
