Balancing Life and Writing w. R. Arundel @TheFaceTranspla @GoddessFish #thriller #medical

Today we have author R. Arundel visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Robert was born in London, United Kingdom. His early formative years were spent in Toronto Canada. Robert attended the University of Toronto Medical School. After obtaining his Doctor of Medicine degree he completed surgical training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto and obtained certification from the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Robert Mounsey practices surgery in private practice in Toronto.
* R. Arundel studied Film Studies at Ryerson University, after this he began writing screenplays and novels. The Face Transplant is his debut novel.
* R. Arundel is married and lives in Toronto, Canada. When not writing or practicing surgery Robert can be found cycling.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* About balancing life and writing and my story The Face Transplant.
* I maintain a very busy schedule as a facial plastic surgeon. However, I do not have difficulty finding time to write. I have constant ideas around the project I am writing (I always have a project on the go) and new thoughts about concepts I would like to explore. I think everyone has the same challenges in a work/life balance. The stay at home mother with two young children has a far more hectic time than most people who complain that writing is too difficult or that their job keeps them from writing. If you have a need to write then you will find a way to write. This is very similar to my friends who are ardent runners. On a cold or rainy day when I will say it's a great day not to go out for a run, they will say it's a perfect day to run.
* I personally cannot write quality material or structure a story properly if I spend too long writing. After a certain amount of time the mind wanders and fatigue sets in. Having a marathon writing session may seem like you are accomplishing more, but in reality the quality will diminish. It is far preferable to write shorter bursts of stuff that later when you read it you are satisfied, than to write a hundred pages and then the next day you need to come back and re write the entire thing because the writing is far inferior.
* I have many diverse interests and other activities to give me a break from writing. Taking time away from writing to enjoy other activities benefits my writing I avoid forcing myself to write a certain amount each day. If the ideas flow, then I write. If not, I don't write. I think that my subconscious always is working on my book and when I have something to write, I'll write.

* Dr. Matthew MacAulay is a Facial Transplant Surgeon at a prestigious New York hospital. His friend and mentor, Tom Grabowski, dies under mysterious circumstances. Matthew is forced to investigate. He uncovers his friend’s secret. A new technique that allows perfect facial transplants. No incisions, no scars. The surgeon is able to transplant one person’s face to another with the perfect result. Tom was able to accomplish this monumental feat with the help of Alice, a supercomputer robot with almost human abilities.
* While trying to find the people responsible for murdering his friend Tom, Matthew realizes he is the prime suspect. Matthew must flee for his life with the help of Dr. Sarah Larsson, a colleague and reluctant helper who has a secret of her own. Alice helps them make sense of a baffling series of seemingly unrelated events. Matthew is forced to undergo a facial transplant to hide his identity and help to uncover the truth.
* The clues carry Matthew and Sarah around the world. Matthew stumbles onto a sinister plot of monumental proportions, the real reason Tom was murdered. This discovery leads Matthew all the way to The White House with a dramatic conclusion. Matthew never wavers in his quest for the truth and perseveres against all the odds. He must race to stop a major catastrophe, ratcheting up the excitement until the thrilling conclusion.
* The Face Transplant is a powerful medical suspense thriller of the first order. The novel was written by a surgeon. The novel has a realism that only a surgeon can bring. The plot weaves politics, medicine and espionage into a tightly paced, intelligent thriller. The novel crescendos page by page to a totally unexpected conclusion.

* The missing face is found...
* The titanium canister slowly rose from the ground behind the glass door. When it finally stopped, two beeps were heard. Jason opened the glass door and took out the canister, a soft cold mist emanated from the canister. Maybe it was the temperature difference here, Matthew had never seen that when he brought up his canisters. The white mist slowly rose and then disappeared. Jason opened the titanium canister. As he had suspected, a red light began to flash. Matthew realized the canister had been altered. A signal was alerting someone that they had opened the canister.
* Jason, “Don’t worry, I anticipated this, the wall will not allow the signal to transmit, we’re safe.”
* Jason slowly removes the head from the canister. It is covered in what looks like a thin white cloth and wrapped precisely. Same technique used for all donor faces in the US. This face was harvested by Tom, no doubt about it. Slowly they unwrap the face.

A Look At Rose Shababy & 'The Blue Effect' @RoseShababy @GoddessFish #SciFi

Today we have author Rose Shababy visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Rose Shababy and her family reside in eastern Washington State. Rose grew up in the Northwest but swears she’s going to move to warmer climates someday. She’s claimed this for over 20 years, however, and has yet to move more than 75 miles away from her mother.
* Rose has a deep love of all things Star Trek and yearns to travel the heavens, as well as an intense desire to be bitten by a radioactive spider. Unfortunately she sucks at science and math so she hasn’t been able bring her dreams to life, instead living vicariously through books, comics, television and film. She hopes to someday make a million dollars so she can afford to buy her way to the international space station, but she’d settle for being able to fly around the world and leap tall buildings in a single bound.
* Rose also loves to cook and worked for years in a gourmet Italian grocery and deli where she learned to hone her skills. She prepares culinary masterpieces for her family, but fervently wishes the dishes would wash themselves. Especially now that her dishwashers/children are nearly grown and only one still lives at home.
* Rose likes to use her free time wisely. For instance, she likes to daydream, will often read for hours until she falls asleep on the couch with an electric blanket and a warm tabby cat curled up on her hip, as well as spending cozy weekend days watching Syfy movies like Sharknado and Mega Piranha with her husband.
* If Rose were a cartoon animal, she’d prefer to be a wise old owl or a sleek and sexy jaguar, but in reality she’d probably be a myopic mole with coke-bottle glasses.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* My story The Blue Effect.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Blue Brennan is jaded and bitter despite her pinup girl looks and quick wit. Night after night, she scours the Seattle club scene looking for someone or something to fill the emptiness inside.
* When she meets the mysterious Kasey, her world stops… literally. He claims she has the ability to control time and stuns her even further when he reveals his own gifts.
* Blue is inexplicably drawn to Kasey and reluctantly enters his world filled with a new breed of humanity. They’re misfits like her, blessed or cursed with powerful abilities, struggling to hide their differences from the rest of society.
* Then the group discovers a nameless, faceless sociopath with nightmarish powers; and he’s coming for Blue. She’s left reeling when they discover her gifts are the key to defeating his terrible evil and saving them all.
* Now she must race against the clock to harness her own powers and save her new friends. Can she be more than a renegade? Can she be a hero too?

* He held out his free hand and I reached for it without thinking. Taking the hand of this stranger seemed like the most natural thing in the world.
* Our fingers touched and my skin came alive. I felt a surge of electricity as some sort of energy shot from his hand into mine, running through my whole body and back to his like an endless circuit. I couldn’t stifle the gasp that broke through my lips. I stared at him, my vision narrowing until his face and eyes and smile were the only things I could see.
* The energy between us exploded outward like a wave into the crowd, through the people and everything around me stopped. The music ended like a switch had been flipped, the people froze mid-step and even the air around me seemed to stop moving.

Sinfully Sexy Saturday w. Elodie Parkes @ElodieParkes @evernightpub @LoveBitesSilk #menage #SSS

It's Saturday! Yay! Here's a sinfully good treat by author, Elodie Parkes, to add to a great day. Welcome, Elodie Parkes!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Elodie Parkes is a British author writing romance, erotic, contemporary, and often with a twist of mystery, paranormal or suspense. Her books are always steamy, cool stories and hot love scenes.
* Elodie lives in Canterbury with her two dogs. She works in an antique shop by day and writes at night, loving the cloak of silent darkness that descends on the rural countryside around her home.
* Elodie writes for: Hot Ink Press | Moon Rose Publishing | Eternal Press | Secret Cravings | Evernight Publishing | Siren Publishing
* She has also released titles as an individual indie author.

What book are you going to tell us about today?
* My story The Summer Heat.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* The inspiration came from a tree being cut down in the communal gardens where I currently live. I didn’t even see it felled, but I was immensely saddened as this was a healthy young tree. In my story, the gorgeous guys are cutting down a diseased tree in their garden, and that’s how they see Annabel move in next door.

Who's the hero?

Who's the heroine?

Who's the other hero?

Are you working on another book right now?
* I’m working on three books, right now. Two are contemporary erotic romance, and one is romance Sci-Fi. Naturally, they are all love stories, with HEA. I have to have that in my books. I’m not writing much though, because of my day job, where I have shifts, and I’m editing for the releases in the latter part of this year.

What things do you like to do to relax?
* I find writing relaxing, but I also like to get out into the countryside near where I live. I enjoy visiting the historic places too. I read, watch movies and I love music. I’m often singing along with something as I drive.

Do you have another job as well as writing?
* Yes, I have to. I work for an antiques emporium. It’s very tourist driven, so right now I have late night hours and work all weekend and holidays. I do shifts, usually start about midday or two in the afternoon, and work through until ten or eleven. It means I’ve taken a hiatus from writing so my stories mentioned above are waiting for me. I can feel them there wanting to be written.

Can you think of a song or piece of music that could be your theme tune?
* It changes for me every time someone in an interview asks, (laughs) right now it’s The Eagles: Tequila Sunrise. That’s because I usually see the sunrise after arriving home very late at night, editing, networking, or real life stuff, like my laundry, and then I flop to sleep for a few hours. (laughs again) Check out my dark shadows.

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?
* Thank you for reading my books. I write from the heart so you get a piece of it every time you read one of my stories. (Smiles)

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* When lifelong friends Nate and Evan watch the arrival of a new neighbor, they never expect to find their friendship rocked by the lovely Annabel who moves into the empty house next door.
* Annabel likes both Nate and Evan the moment she meets them. As they all grow close, will she be forced to choose between these gorgeous men?
Be Warned: menage sex (MFM)

* They got through her front door before they leapt on each other.
* Nate didn’t know how they got their clothes off. The haze of lust at the deliciousness of her kisses fogged his brain. They were in Annabel’s living room, and he was already pounding into her.
* Her lips brushed against his ear. Her whispers and moans mingled with his moaning.
* He held her under the ass and fucked her hard as she clung to him.
* Her hands on his shoulders, she met his thrusts with her hips raised.
* His orgasm started with his balls tightening so that he thrust into her as deep as he could. Into his heart dropped the need to make sure she came. He slowed down, kissed her lips, nibbled down her neck, and sucked there.
* She bucked her hips to his.
* He ground his cock on her clit as he slid into her again.
* She moaned into his mouth.
* Her pussy clenched around his cock as she pressed her body against him, and he knew she was coming. It filled him with love. He didn’t need to pound into her to come. His orgasm flowed over him as he kissed her. It buckled his knees and weakened his thighs as the ripples of sensation jerked his cock inside her. Nate groaned as Annabel’s tongue touched the tip of his. He pressed his stomach against her enjoying the pressure and satin texture of her skin on his. A melting sensation drifted over him, and he rested his forehead on her shoulder.
* “How do you feel?” He whispered against her ear.
* She made a little sound, not quite a word.
* He interpreted it as pleasure. That’s what it sounded like to him, as if she’d tasted something good. He lifted his head and kissed her tenderly. “Next time, maybe we can slow down, but I needed that so bad.”
