a look at Amber Morgan & 'Waking the Lioness' @AmberMothling @evernightpub #paranormal #gay

Today we have author Amber Morgan visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Amber is the secret identity of a writer who normally pens urban fantasy, but feels like stretching her wings. Amber loves darker romance, anti-heroes, good red wine, and expensive chocolate (sometimes all at once). She's based in the UK and lives in an adorable cottage with her dream man and two stupid snakes.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* I love a good story. Sometimes I love the story behind the story even more. I signed the contract for WAKING THE LIONESS back in October 2015, but the plot twist is that this is the second time I've signed a contract with Evernight for this story.
* Five years ago, I submitted WAKING THE LIONESS to Evernight for one of their anthologies, under a now-defunct pen name. It was accepted, giving me a few firsts: my first title with Evernight, my first erotic paranormal romance, and my first menage story. Huzzahs! I never wrote anything else under that pen name (lack of time more than anything else), but when the rights to WAKING THE LIONESS reverted to me last Autumn, I felt like it it would be a shame to just tuck it away in a virtual box and never do anything with it again.
* I gave it a good, critical going-over (five years gives you a lot of time to mentally re-write something, and I must admit, there were a few lines in the original version that made me cringe on-re-reading). I added a bit, changed a bit, and realised it really felt like a story in vein of EXILED ALPHA – strong men, passionate women, and sizzling sex.
* So I asked Evernight if they'd like to see the improved version, and they said yes. And then they offered me a brand new contract for it. Huzzahs! So my first release of 2016 is also the re-release of my first story with Evernight – I quite like that symmetry. I can't wait for you to meet Lara, Zane, and Tate!
~ Blurb ~
* Convinced she could never give her fiance what he truly wanted, cat-shifter Lara Carey walked away from her home and her engagement, and started fresh in New Orleans. One year on, she's never stopped missing Zane Walker...but it's too late to do anything about it, isn't it?
* Zane Walker hasn't come to New Orleans to find Lara, but when chance throws them together, his passion for her is reignited. There's just one problem. Zane's new lover is missing somewhere in New Orleans, and even if Zane and Lara find him, can Lara accept him and Zane?
~ Excerpt ~
* Zane turned his fierce gaze on her, the heat in his eyes forcing her back a little. “You left Malkin Ridge for this?” he demanded. “Serving booze and getting hit on by scrawny creeps like him? Jesus, Lara.”
* Face burning, Lara grabbed his arm again and dragged him out of Alchemy. The eyes of the entire room were on her. She saw Luc watching with a frown on his face. This wasn’t going to go down well with him—Luc hated trouble in the bar.
* Outside, Lara leaned against the wall, running her hands over her hair. If she’d felt hot and sticky before, she was positively boiling now. The last person she’d ever expect to see in New Orleans was Zane. And yet here he was, larger than life and twice as sexy as she remembered. The shock of seeing him doubled by the second. “You.... What are you doing here, Zane?”
* He shoved his hands into his jeans pockets, glowering at the cigarette butts littering the pavement. “I didn’t come looking for you, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
* Her heart sank, and she scolded herself silently for her disappointment. She’d left Malkin Ridge to get away from Zane, hadn’t she? Away from the whole Malkin Ridge mountain lion community. She should be pleased he wasn’t here for her. Shouldn’t she?
* “Then it’s just coincidence you strolled into my bar?” she challenged when he lapsed into silence.
* He stared out at the river, face dark and drawn. People pushed past them, and Lara smelled frying onions, lime, and shrimp from the grill next door. The air over the river shimmered, and Zane seemed fascinated by it. For a few long minutes she thought he wouldn’t answer—and how like him that would be—but eventually he sighed heavily and turned back to her.
* “I’m looking for someone. A friend. Tate Beckett.” He fumbled in his pockets again and pulled out a battered leather wallet. He flipped it open to show Lara a photo. A golden-haired youth smiled at her from the picture. He had classic mountain lion coloring—blonde, blue-eyed, fair skinned. Very attractive. He probably wasn’t as young as he looked if he was a shapeshifter.
* “He’s missing?” she asked. Stupid question, of course. Zane wouldn’t be here looking otherwise. Something about Zane always robbed her of her wits.
* “He came down here three weeks ago to visit family and never came back,” Zane confirmed. “He was supposed to be back in Malkin Ridge three days ago. We spoke. He had his flight booked and everything.” He chewed his lip, anxiety marring his handsome features. “I came down here, scouted around, smelled mountain lion.... I didn’t expect it to be you, Lara.”
* He looked at her properly for the first time, his eyes softening, scowl relaxing. “It’s good to see you,” he added. He reached for her, brushed a damp lock of hair from her cheek. His fingers barely made contact with her skin but his touch was still electric, sending little lightning bolts dancing over her skin and down between her legs. She shivered.

A Look At Amber Morgan & 'Tanner's War' @AmberMothling @evernightpub #MC #romance

What are you going to tell us about today?
* Thanks for having me today! I'm delighted to be introducing my new MC romance series, Wild Blood MC, which kicks off with TANNER'S WAR. This is a whole new venture for me – I've beenr reading MC romances for a while, but I only recently gathered my nerve to try writing one. My usual fare as a writer is paranormal, and I had no idea if I could write anything else! But once Tanner and Beth popped into my head, I couldn't stop thinking about them, and I knew I had to try getting their story written. And hey, I had loads of fun doing it! Hopefully it's going to be just as much fun to read...
A look into...
~ Blurb ~
* He's not looking for trouble.
* Tanner is fresh out of prison and trying to stay clean. His place in Wild Blood MC demands it. But when he nearly runs over a terrified woman, trouble finds him. Beth needs a savior and Tanner can't say no.
* She's desperate to escape.
* Beth chose running over a forced marriage. She's got nothing and nobody – until she meets Tanner. But with a fanatical cult leader hunting her, can she risk staying with the first man to defend her?
* Tanner's willing to put it all on the line for Beth – even his beloved MC. The fallout will change both their lives.
~ Excerpt ~
* "What choice do I have? I've got nothing, nobody -"
* He whirled round and grabbed her by the shoulders, pulling her hard against his chest. She gave a little gasp, staring up at him with wide, tear-filled eyes. "You've got me now," he said, an unexpected fierceness rising in him. Before he could think better of it, he kissed her.
* It was probably a mistake. But fuck, she felt good in his arms. She melted into him, opening herself to his possessive kiss and pressing her soft body against him eagerly. He wrapped his arms around her, lifting her off her feet in his need to get as much of her as possible. She tasted sweet and fresh, and his cock hardened as he wondered if her cunt tasted as good as her lips. The thought spurred him to kiss her harder, deeper, sweeping his tongue over hers, then biting her lip. She moaned – half pain, half encouragement, but the sound cut through some of Tanner's blind lust.
* "Shit," he said, releasing her abruptly. "I shouldn't have done that."
* Her face crumpled and he realized too late how callous that sounded. He thumped the wall with less force, and ran his hands over his face, trying to compose himself.
* It wasn't easy. His cock was throbbing and his whole body felt hot and tight, wired for action. Beth stared at him with a mixture of hope and shame on her face, and all he wanted to do was snatch her back into his arms and start kissing her again. For starters, anyway. Everything else wanted to do to her...Well, fuck. She probably hadn't heard of half the things he wanted to do to her.
* "Don't you want me?" she asked, voice breaking.
* Well shit. Of course he wanted her. Look at her. Sweet hips, hot tits, lush lips...Who wouldn't want her? But not like this, with her drunk and vulnerable.
* "I didn't mean it like that," he said, reaching for her. "I just mean, you're...you know...And I'm...you know..." Shit. What was it about her that made him so damn tongue-tied?
* "I don't know," she said, hugging herself again and turning away from him slightly. “Don’t do things like that if you don’t mean them.”
* “I did mean it. It just probably wasn’t very appropriate.”
* There was a touch of bitterness in Beth’s laugh that he didn’t like. “Do you always worry about what’s appropriate?”
* “No,” he admitted. Well, this was going really fucking badly, wasn’t it? He laced his fingers behind his head and kicked at the scuffed boards on the porch, wishing he could go join the fights he knew were happening not far from here. Nash had him on probation though – no getting back in the cage until his actual probation was over. Tanner had tried to persuade him otherwise, but he’d realized that all his arguments made him sound like a teenager screaming you’re not my real dad and gave up out of embarrassment.
* But fuck it, he needed to fight tonight. It was an itch under his skin that would just get hotter and hotter the more he ignored it. He was tuned up all wrong, what with finding Beth, laying out that creep at Mia’s, and now that kiss. It was either fight or fuck, and the only woman he wanted to fuck…He glanced at Beth. She looked torn between bolting and throwing herself at him. He could have her, he knew that. Their kiss told him that. She might be innocent and scared, but she was electric in his arms. It would be really fucking sick of him though, wouldn’t it? She’d been assaulted, sexually and physically, in the past twenty-four hours by men she’d known all her life. For Tanner to take her now, when she was hurting and vulnerable…Yeah. Not okay.
* “Maybe I should go back to bed,” Beth said, running her fingers through her hair. “That beer’s hitting me pretty hard.” She managed a weak smile.
* Tanner didn’t want her to go. He wanted her to stay out here, even if they did nothing, said nothing. He wanted to know she was right by his side, safe and…and his. He groaned. “Yeah,” he said, “please go to bed. If you stay out here, I’m going to do something really inappropriate.”

A Look At Amber Morgan & 'Through Her Eyes' @AmberMothling @evernightpub #romanticsuspense

What are you going to tell us about today?
* My romantic suspense with a light paranormal element story called Through Her Eyes. Between submitting THROUGH HER EYES for publication and completing the final edits, I found myself reading a lot of true crime books. Lots of stuff on criminal profiling, unsolved cases, and serial killers. It was coincidence, but it was also great timing when the edits came in! I didn't want to make the story procedural-heavy, but as the hero, Dom, is a police detective, I think I was able to make him a little more real by working in some of the facts I'd picked up. I was also able to flesh out the villain of the story by adding in little behavioural cues based on real-life serial killers. I didn't want to shoehorn anything in, like “look at me, I read some stuff!!!”, but hopefully the extras I did squeeze in help to build the tension and chills in the story!
A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Six years ago, Keira nearly died at the hands of a serial killer. The experience left her with more than just physical scars. She was psychically linked to the killer, a helpless witness to all his crimes. Now the man known as the Shoreditch Slasher has killed again, and Keira is dragged right back into his path. Detective Dom Abbott believes Keira's link to the killer will help the police finally catch him, even if it means putting the woman he loves in danger. With Dom to protect her, Keira is willing to risk almost anything...But where will her strange gift lead her?
~ Excerpt ~
* Cold hands seized her, wrapping round her throat in an iron grip. The scream that spiraled up in her lungs was crushed from her. He shoved her hard against the wall, face first. If there'd been any air left in her that would have knocked it out. The brickwork scraped her cheek and the stinging pain brought tears to her eyes.
* She felt him push against her, his body hard and unrelenting. Through the flimsy material of her skirt, she felt his cock strain against her ass cheeks. Horror turned her stomach and she tried to struggle, kick, anything that might free her. It was impossible. He was strong and unyielding. He put his lips to her ear and whispered, "They all try to fight. They all fail."
* His words were like an icy lance through her heart. She whimpered, the only sound she could make while his fingers squeezed at her throat. Her vision was blurring, growing steadily darker as her heart fluttered uselessly against her ribs. He was going to hurt her and she couldn't stop it. It would be a mercy to lose consciousness.
* And then she felt the blade against her cheek.
* His voice was rough with dark pleasure. "Say goodnight, sweetheart."
