a look at Hazel Hughes & 'Dance with Me' @HazelHughesER @evernightpub #interracial #RomanticSuspense

Today we have author Hazel Hughes visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Hazel Hughes is a contemporary erotic romance writer and urban nomad. Born in London, Hazel has lived all over the globe, from the wilds of Northern Ontario and the cornfields of Iowa to the concrete jungles of Seoul and Abu Dhabi. Currently, she is living in New York, writing from wherever there is strong coffee and funky beats. When she’s not laying down steamy scenes on the page, you can find her whipping up hot and spicy concoctions in the kitchen or dancing to the beat of her own drummer.

What are you going to tell us about today?
~ Blurb ~
* Reporter Sherry Wilson-Wong knows she’s crossed the line. But playing Alexi Davydenko’s drinking game—a shot and a kiss for every answer—is the only way to loosen the bad boy’s lips. She gets her story, he gets his fun. But his answers only lead to more questions. And Alexi wants more than fun.
* Digging into the ballet company’s shadowy secrets, Sherry learns that the beauty on stage masks some ugly dealings. The more truths she exposes, the more lies she’s forced to tell herself—investigating a company with ties to the Russian mob isn’t dangerous, and licking every inch of Alexi’s naked body while hunting down evidence of his guilt isn’t a conflict of interest. With each touch and each kiss, she's falling deeper in love with the very man who could destroy her.
~ Excerpt ~
* Alexi put his mug down and stood in front of her, tilting her face up with one hand. “Yes, I must rehearse, and yes, you must write. But there is no need to run away like a scared little girl from the wolf.” He bent over to kiss her.
* Sherry wanted that kiss more than she wanted her venti skim latte, and with her throbbing head, that was a lot. But she put her hand on his bare chest, stopping him.
* He looked at her, confusion dawning in his eyes, followed quickly by hurt. He stepped back. “Oh. I see. You have your story now.” His voice was cold.
* “It’s not like that,” she said. Was this just a case of bruised ego, or was he genuinely hurt? She flashed back to what the bartender said about the type of girls Alexi normally brought to the bar. Party girls, he said.
* “So what is it like?” He turned away from her, looking out the window.
* She reached out a hand to put it on his shoulder, the one with the tattoo of Tolstoy’s face on it, but thought better of it. “Look, Alexi. I’ve already crossed more ethical boundaries than I’m comfortable with.”
* “To get your story.” His voice was flat, his arms crossed over his chest.
* “Hey, it’s my job to get the story. I came ready to interview you like I interview all my subjects. The vodka, the kisses, that was your game.”
* He turned suddenly, his green gaze pinning her. She couldn’t look away. “You didn’t want to play?”
* “No. I mean, yes. I did…” she started.
* He moved closer to her, his hand cupping her jaw. “I know you did. I think you still want to,” he whispered, his breath warm on her cheek. His lips touched hers, softly at first, questioning. When she parted her lips in response, he opened them wider, reaching for her tongue with his. Liquid. Melting. From her mouth all the way down to her softest, most private parts.
* He pulled back slightly. “Do you want to play, Sherry?”
* She was having a hard time regulating her breath. He was so close. She put her hands on his chest, but not to hold him back. She ran her hands over his chest, nipples hard under her palm, then down over the ridges of his abs. She hooked her fingers into his waistband, pulling him toward her in response to his question. She wanted to play any game he had in mind as long as it involved what was under his pants, ethics be damned.
* “Yes,” she said.

a look at Merryn Dexter & 'A Mate’s Redeeming Touch' @MerrynDexter @decadentpub #shifter #BlackHillsWolves

Today we have author Merryn Dexter visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Merryn Dexter is a military spouse who, after a varied employment career (from selling sandals to old ladies with bunions to being a health and safety coordinator for a construction company), is thrilled to be pursuing her dream career as a romance writer. She likes The Winchesters, Spike, Hotch, Loki and watching complicated European Noir. Her hobbies include crying at books, crying at movies, crying at tv serials (there’s a theme!) and believes all stories should have a Happy Ending.

Today Merryn Dexter will be talking about how she became a writer and what inspired her in regard to the story she's promoting.
* I became a writer almost by accident. I am friends with a number of authors I greatly admire as a reader of their work and got hooked on a multi-author series called Black Hills Wolves. There were 16 novellas at the time and I read them back-to-back. I became immersed in this new world and followed avidly as this devastated wolf pack tried to pull themselves together. During a casual conversation one of the creators of the series suggested I try my hand at writing a story for them and I laughed. I had been trying my hand at writing, something for myself more than with any real expectation of being published. After a sleepless night where my brain asked me why it was such a funny idea, I took a deep breath and requested the series bible from the publisher. Bibles are essential for multi-series worlds as they keep everyone on track and help to create a cohesive experience for the readers.
* I read the bible, thought about the books I’d read and an idea for a story came to me. I wrote furiously and before I knew it I had written the first draft of what would become A Mate’s Healing Touch. After waffling for a few days, I submitted it to the publisher, Decadent Publishing, on the grounds the worst they could say was no. They said yes.
* That was last summer. I had no idea how to write a story and the editing process has been a huge learning experience for me. The mysteries of showing vs telling have been revealed to me. Using outlines to guide a story development rather than just pantsing the whole way through without any clue what will happen next. Compromising and learning to take constructive critique (man oh man there were a LOT of tears during the development of book one!). With my publisher’s and editor’s help, A Mate’s Healing Touch was released in December 2015.
* My second story for the series, A Mate’s Redeeming Touch, has just released on 25th March 2016. When I wrote Healing Touch it became much more than a simple story about a hero and heroine meeting, it became about the families they came from as well. The hero Caleb got two older siblings, Caitlyn and Connor, and before I had finished book one, Caitlyn was already telling me her story. Where Healing Touch is about what makes a family (and it isn’t simply biology), Redeeming Touch is about survival and finding the courage to open your heart to another person. It’s also about the mistakes we make in trying to protect our loved ones and learning to let go of the past in order to create a better future.
* I have four other stories contracted. It’s a dream come true for me. If that sounds like a fairy-tale, then here’s my note of caution. There’s nothing romantic about writing romance. It’s hard work, mentally and emotionally taxing and like everything else in life, become a writer is a learned skill. It is a very competitive market and I am a tiny minnow in an ocean of great writers. But it is the best thing I have ever done and with hard work and application and the help of my muse I am determined to grab this opportunity and run with it.
A look into...
~ Blurb ~
* Ven Thorne is a lone wolf with a bad attitude caused by his difficult childhood. Forced to return to pack life, he is tasked with rebuilding the gas station on the outskirts of Los Lobos. Ven works for Ryker, the pack enforcer, and will act as sentinel and lookout when the station reopens.
* Caitlyn Burrows has recently returned to Los Lobos with her family. A victim of Magnum Tao, the pack’s evil ex-Alpha, she is terrified of men and her natural omega nature is making it hard for her to make friends. Her family is determined to see Caitlyn happy.
* A chance encounter between Ven and Caitlyn reveals they are mates, something that neither of them is happy about! He’s mean and angry; she’s timid and shy. Can two such opposites find common ground?
* Caitlyn decides it is past time to take control of her life and is determined to prove to Ven that she is the mate that he needs. Can she make him see that the Fates are right and that their only chance of happiness is together or will the ghosts from the past keep them apart forever?
~ Excerpt ~
* “I said, what do you want?” Ven sounded furious as he took a step towards her and Caitlyn shrank back, dropping the cooler as she raised her hands as though trying to ward him off. The box tipped over, spilling its contents across the scruffy lot and the man swore again. He stepped around the mess of food and drinks, advancing rapidly and she caught his scent, amber and dark wood beneath a layer of fresh sweat. Her wolf, normally so quiet, surged forward and she realized in terror that she was practically toe-to-toe with her mate. And he was mean and angry.
* Knowing what it was to suffer at the hands of a cruel man, she turned tail and ran as fast as she could. She plunged towards the relatively safety of the trees, kicking off her shoes and dragging her clothes free as she fled.
* Her wolf was whining at her to stop, but she pushed on into the heavy brush. Pausing to shed her jeans, she crouched, letting the shift take her over but making sure she retained enough control to force the wolf to keep running. The wolf howled, desperate to turn back, to catch again the glorious scent of her mate and offer her throat in submission to his dominant presence.
* A heavy crash behind had her doubling her efforts and her paws scrabbled over the soft ground, seeking purchase as she ran as though the hounds of hell were on her heels. She risked a glance over her shoulder and an involuntary yip of fright loosed from her throat. An enormous gray wolf was gaining on her with every stride, the snarl on his face more terrifying than the scowl he’d worn in his human form.
* She put on another burst of speed, her wolf suddenly in accordance that escape rather than submission was the best idea. Dodging around a massive pine tree, trunk broader than her back, she pulled up short at the remains of another fallen trunk that suddenly blocked her path. A snarl set her in motion again and her claws scratched at the bark as she desperately tried to clamber over the downed tree. The wood was soft, rotten in places and her front legs slid from under her as a huge set of jaws clamped around the thick fur at the back of her neck.

a look at Tara Quan & 'Feline Valentine' @LaylaTarar @decadentpub #RomCom #Paranormal

Today we have author Tara Quan visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Globetrotter, lover of languages, and romance author, Tara Quan has an addiction for crafting tales with a pinch of spice and a smidgen of kink. Inspired by her travels, Tara enjoys tossing her kick-ass heroines and alpha males into exotic contemporary locales, paranormal worlds, and post-apocalyptic futures. Her characters, armed with magical powers or conventional weapons, are guaranteed a suspenseful and sensual ride, as well as their own happily ever after. To receive updates about her new releases and get a free sexy read, subscribe to her mailing list at www.taraquan.com/newsletter.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* A year ago, I released Fireworks at Midnight, thinking I would leave the world of A Witch’s Night Out forever (I’d planned the series as a trilogy). Unfortunately, my characters had other plans. Since I’d sicced Madame Eve on her cat familiar, earth mage Shelley Dupree insisted I make things right. To be fair, I’d already given her a magical handicap, forced her under house arrest, and buried her in bills—taking away her feline companion did seem a cruel and unusual punishment.
* It took me two months of fictional time to even the scales with Feline Valentine. Part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series, my interracial paranormal romance is set in Washington, D.C., where magic-wielding folk try to live alongside us pesky humans. It’s my first true “shifter” AND “foodie” romance (talk about ticking two boxes with one book), and a quick read of the blurb should tell you what I mean.
* To celebrate this unexpected return to my favorite series, I’m giving away a $15 gift card. To enter, leave a comment here and drop your details in the Rafflecopter widget at the bottom of this post.
~ Blurb ~
* Under magical house arrest in her great-grandmother’s suburban cottage, college graduate and reluctant earth mage Shelley Dupree whiles away most mornings spying on the warlock next door. Though erotic daydreams offer some distraction, she faces long working hours, cash flow problems, and a repeat burglar. On Valentine’s Day, she sets a trap for the mysterious intruder, intent on ending his crime streak once and for all. But her scheming cat familiar foils her best-laid plans, and, with a little help from Madame Eve’s 1-Night Stand service, she discovers a far more dangerous species of magical feline.
* After moving in next to a ramshackle building on the outskirts of Washington, D.C., pastry chef Adrien Chatdurois is plagued by repeat sexual fantasies starring the same curvy brunette. In a state of constant arousal, he devotes his early mornings to grueling exercise and spends the rest of his day handcrafting the city’s best chocolates. When his younger brother stirs up trouble on the shop’s busiest day, the frustrated shifter is forced to pay a surprise visit on his reclusive neighbor. He soon learns not all witches are wart-covered hags, and one in particular might prove the most delicious of desserts.
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Romantic Comedy, Interracial/Multicultural

* Her doorbell rang.
* An ominous crack followed the box’s impact with her yellowed kitchen floor. Sweat dampened the back of her neck. She must have imagined the sound. Her doorbell had been broken for weeks—months even. She’d taped a scribbled sign telling food delivery people to leave items on the porch. No one other than her family ever visited.
* Everything, including the array of curiosities in front of her, must be part of a hallucination brought on by prolonged celibacy. Sweets wouldn’t dare sic Madame Eve’s service on her. Everyone Shelley knew who’d used it had—
* Ding dong.
* Okay, she could fix this. She’d meet the guy and tell him to scram. No way could the matchmaker’s mojo work in less than five seconds.
* Muttering curses under her breath, she marched past the counter, through her makeshift office, and across the small living space, to stop in front of the thick wood barrier. Peepholes hadn’t been in vogue back when this place had been built. Since she hadn’t bothered to switch out the bulbs after the porch lights died, she couldn’t have discerned more than shadowy shapes regardless.
* Pulling her shoulders back, she summoned her inner bitch. She had to run the guy off. Failure would end in disaster. Acting rude and obnoxious was a matter of determination, persistence, and effort.
* She swung the door open.
* The warlock next door stared back at her.
* Her next breath erupted as a cough. “F—udge cakes.”
* As opening lines to Shelley Channeling the Shrew went, she could have done better. She blamed her parents. No matter how many times she’d thought, read, and heard four-letter expletives, she couldn’t shake the ingrained childhood habit of modifying them for polite company.
* It didn’t help that the man had a brown cake box sandwiched between his waist and left arm. Responding to the stimuli, her stomach had short-circuited her brain and demanded sustenance—ideally, in the form of fudge cake. Her gaze dropped to the bottle clasped in his hand. She’d had a champagne craving since this morning.
* Her hunky neighbor’s green eyes had widened to a comical degree. Perspiration beaded his forehead. His Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. When his mouth opened, no sound came out.
* What did he have to be shocked about?
* Of course, only now did it occur to her she could have pretended not to be home. Just because someone rang the doorbell didn’t mean she had to answer.
* It would be so rude not to, her goody-two-shoes inner voice who sounded suspiciously like her mother countered. I raised you better.
* As she contemplated slamming the door, an act that met with immeasurable resistance from the metaphorical angel on her shoulder, her neighbor croaked, “It’s you.”
* As first exchanges between potential soul mates went, this might be one for the books.
* At least the guy came with more than one bribe. A covered plate of chocolate-dipped strawberries balanced precariously on his other palm. Her gaze drifted over his bare forearm and along tensed biceps. The short sleeve of his red T-shirt accentuated his muscle definition.
* Her mouth watered. Her gluttonous heart did a little flip. She couldn’t settle on what tempted her more—the food or the warlock.

Available at Amazon

Adjoa’s polite knuckle knock hadn’t worked, so her fist had to meet the door. He could sleep through anything. “Kwame, it’s me.”
When the door swung open, her eyes met a tall, sexy man with no shirt. The sprinkling of dark curly hair on his well-muscled chest forced her fingers to grip the handle of her bag so she wouldn’t reach out to stroke him.
A bicep flexed as he reached up to rub his eye. She’d always been a sucker for a man with a well-toned body, and this one met all of her muscle criteria.
Her gaze roamed up to the face scowling down at her. Holy crap. It was Kwame’s body she’d been ogling. She pushed past him so he couldn’t see her blush and headed into the kitchen. Grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge, she gulped it down. It didn’t come close to cooling her off. What was going on?
“Why aren’t you dressed? It’s seven.” She glanced down at her watch. “Five after seven to be exact. You should be ready to go.”
“I had a late night.”
Another swig of water at the sound of the sexy rumble of his morning voice didn’t help with the quiver in her stomach. Who was this man and why did he affect her like this? She hadn’t felt this way since she’d had that brief flutter of attraction in college. It had been easy to get over him when he started dating that hussy architect major.
“What were you doing? Computer work?” Please say yes. For years, they’d avoided detailed discussions about the people they dated; it seemed to be a mutual unspoken agreement between them.
“You know me too well.”
Relief flowed out of her in the form of a long exhale, glad he hadn’t been with a woman last night. Not that it should matter. Just because she’d asked him to be her fake man didn’t mean he couldn’t see other women. She didn’t even care. “Not good enough to circumvent you not being awake by now. Get going. Make it quick so both of us aren’t late.”
As he shuffled toward the bathroom, her gaze wandered down to his tight ass. Placing the cold, half-empty water bottle on her warm neck, she snapped her attention away. All of a sudden, her nerdy friend Kwame had morphed into a tempting man.

Nana Prah is a multi-published author of contemporary, multicultural romance. Her books are sweet with a touch of spice. When she’s not writing she’s reading, indulging in chocolate, and enjoying life with friends and family.

* It’s been an age since I’ve had a new release. Like my heroine Naomi Price, I’d allowed life to get in the way of what I love, resulting in a significant production gap since Fireworks at Midnight came out last year. Perhaps for that reason, I’ve allowed my naughty side to run amuck in Submissive On Display.
* Part of Decadent Publishing’s 1-Night Stand Series, my interracial BDSM romance is set in Las Vegas at the renowned Carnivore Club, a multi-author world first penned by Kate Richards. Despite my best efforts to be dark and kinky, I only succeeded at the latter. A light-hearted play on the reluctant lovers trope, my novella is a romantic comedy, replete with a Dom in distress, a reluctant submissive on a white horse, and an adorable German shepherd determined to unite the two.

Balancing Life & Writing w. Sara Daniel @SSaraDaniel @decadentpub #1NS #romance

Today we have author Sara Daniel visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Sara Daniel writes what she loves to read—irresistible romance, from sweet to erotic and everything in between. She battles a serious NASCAR addiction, was once a landlord of two uninvited squirrels, and loses her car keys several times a day. One Night with her Husband is the latest book in her One Night with the Bridal Party series.

Today Sara Daniel will be talking about how she handles balancing life and writing.
* This is topic that every writer struggles with, at times more than others. Writing has been my career for over 13 years, and I’ve found this question evolves as my life has evolved.
* Writing as an escape: When my children were toddlers, as much as I loved my kids, I was losing myself and completely bogged down in the small, emotionally exhausting day-to-day details of caring for small children. I returned to writing, and it became my escape and my “me-time.” Because I was happier and more fulfilled, I became a better parent and spouse.
* Writing to prove myself: Once my youngest child was in school, writing was no longer an escape. It was my job, and I desperately wanted to be published and turn the career I’d chosen into a success. I guarded my writing time fiercely because I had a very limited amount. When the kids came home, my work time was over.
* Writing is part of who I am, but it’s not everything: My kids are still at home and in school, but they’re older, so when they come home I can continue to write. I treat writing like the full-time job that it is. However, it comes with flexible hours that can constantly change due to my family obligations, and I give myself time off to recharge my muse and take care of me, usually with long walks and bike rides. My first responsibility is to take care of my family and keep my home running smoothly. And on good days, that leaves plenty of time for me to follow my muse. On bad days… well, there’s always tomorrow.
* The next evolution: What will happen to my work-life balance once the kids are out of the house, and I don’t have to worry about anyone starving to death because I wrote five pages instead of going to the store? I’m as curious as you to find out, but until then, I’m enjoying the family time.
A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
She walked away from her marriage seven years ago...
* Marcia Johnson always assumed her husband would follow her eventually. She’d achieve success while she waited and prove her decision the right one. But when he finally turns up, she’s not ready. Her career hangs in the balance, and her weight has skyrocketed. How can she face the man she loves and show him she made the right choice? Especially when he’s matured from a decent-looking college student into the sexiest man she’s ever seen.
He’s waited seven years for his wife to finally need him
* If Adrian Torres can save her business, maybe he’ll have a shot at saving their marriage. But the woman he finds is too competent and independent to ask him for help. She even shrugs off his touch instead of reacting with the desire he hoped to ignite. Have the embers of their marriage finally died? Is it time to end their relationship and move forward?
He wants a divorce
* Her world ripped apart, Marcia turns to 1Night Stand to give her one more night before she lets Adrian go. She dares not hope for more. Even Madame Eve couldn’t have the magic to save their neglected disaster of a relationship…could she?
~ Excerpt ~
* For better or worse, he would not live the rest of his life in a suspended, married-but-not-married state.
* “I’m sorry I shocked you with my presence.” He wasn’t sorry for surprising her, but he regretted how unwelcome his surprise had been.
* She swiped at her eyes and began rummaging in the glove compartment. “You have my phone number. You could have warned me you were coming.”
* His chest tightened. “Those stiff, formal calls don’t change anything, except suck away my soul. I needed to shake things up.”
* “So you decided to burst in during the biggest business crisis I’ve ever faced?” She extracted a pack of tissues from the compartment and mopped her beautiful face. “I hope you have a better strategy to save my company, or we’re doomed.”
* With the pressure to convince her to believe in him more intense than during his meeting with Mr. Gladstone, he crouched next to her seat. “While we work together to fix Sunburst’s crisis, we have a chance to bridge the distance between us, too.”
* Mouth gaping, she met his gaze again. “Your idea of bridging the distance is to ambush me in my own conference room and then introduce yourself like we’re freaking strangers?”
* Failure tasted metallic and bitter in his mouth. In his plans, he’d skipped straight to wowing her with his marketing prowess. He hadn’t considered he’d upset her so much she wouldn’t stick around to listen to his spiel. “No, I played my ace card. You put your trust in Gladstone PR. I made myself the face of Gladstone so we’d have enough common business interests that you wouldn’t immediately kick me out of your personal life.”
* Marcia squeezed the steering wheel until her knuckles turned white. “I don’t have time to think about anything personal right now, and I certainly can’t let my employees see me as an emotional wreck. They’re counting on me to lead them with a solid plan.”
* Business and her career didn’t just come first in her heart. They owned her whole heart. Adrian had been a fool to lose sight of that. Burying his own hurt and frustration, he said, “I have a beautiful plan for the company. We’ll put it in action together.” Afterward, he’d have to decide if he could handle coming in a distant second place with her for the rest of his life. “Trust me.”
* She stared at the steering wheel for a long time before turning to him. “I have to. You’re my only hope.”

Welcome special guest: #Romance #author Sara Daniel ~ @SSaraDaniel @Decadentpub

Today we have author Sara Daniel visiting.
What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Sara Daniel writes what she loves to read—irresistible romance, from sweet to erotic and everything in between. She battles a serious NASCAR addiction, was once a landlord of two uninvited squirrels, and loses her car keys several times a day. One Night with the Best Man is the latest book in her One Night with the Bridal Party series. Links to subscribe to her newsletter and to visit her website are below.

So, Sara Daniel, what/who inspired you to become a writer?
* I have always loved to write. Story ideas come to me, and I’m compelled to commit them to paper (or, rather, the blank screen). Thirteen years ago, inspired by far too many Nora Roberts books, I shifted my mindset from thinking of writing as a hobby to turning it into a career.

When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
* I've been writing since 5th grade. My first "book" was actually a play because that way I only had to write the dialogue, which was the only part I wanted to write anyway! The play was about six handwritten pages long. My brother, sister and I then performed it for our parents in our garage. I still have the original script in a box somewhere.

How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
* I wrote a lot of books and rewrote some several times and had my share of false starts before I completed a novel, but I probably finished the equivalent of six full-length novels before I sold my first book, a hardcover released in 2007.

What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
* Write, write, write. Before you can have a best-selling novel, you have to finish writing it. And don't forget to keep reading. That would be the best advice. The worst advice has come from people who don’t respect the romance genre, trying to convince me to write in a genre that meets their approval.

The book you’re promoting, is it a stand-alone story or part of a series?
* One Night with the Best Man is part of the One Night with the Bridal Party series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but if you’d like the read the books in order, they are:
One Night with the Bride; One Night with the Bridesmaid; One Night with the Groom; One Night with the Best Man; One Night with her Husband (coming 5/15/15); One Night with his Wife (coming 6/12/15)

What sparked the idea for the story/series?
* The hero is the younger brother of the heroine from One Night with the Groom. He acted so relaxed and carefree around his sister, but I immediately knew he carried a lot of guilt and pain from his father’s death and had a story that needed to be told.
*** Now for some fun info… ***
Would you/have you own(ed) a snake or some other exotic pet?
* I have not, and I won’t. My daughter has a hamster, and honestly, I think the thing is kind of a creepy and don’t want it anywhere near me!

Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?
* Oh, sun and warm weather all the way. Give me a beach in the summer, and I’m in heaven!

If you could live anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?
* Hmm, I think I just answered that question. A tropical paradise would totally work for me, but a secluded peaceful spot in the woods would be great too.

If you were stranded on a desert island and were only allowed to have five modern conveniences with you, what would they be?
* Plumbing; Electricity; Laptop; Refrigerator; Microwave
*** About the book… ***
~ Blurb ~
* Alejandro “Alex” Cortez vowed never to return to the family farm, but when his sister makes it the destination for her wedding, he has no choice. The farm’s new owner, sexy agricultural professor Dr. Susan Gundersen, is his only hope for a diversion from the haunting memories.
* Susan knows better than to count on people sticking around for her. The farm gives her the roots and permanence she’s craved her entire life. As she helps Alex clear out his family’s mementos from the house, Susan is drawn to the raw and vulnerable man under his carefree exterior. A few kisses later, she falls hard and fast.
* Despite their mutual attraction, Susan will never leave the farm and Alex will never consider staying. Will one passionate night with the best man give them the courage to face what they each fear most or drive them apart forever?
~ Excerpt ~
* “Are you ready to go to the bedroom?”
* “I thought you'd never ask.” He winked.
* Heat flooded her cheeks. “You know what I mean. Don't try to create a sexual context where there isn't any.”
* “Professor, from the moment I saw your assets through that hospital gown, all I've thought of is sexual contexts with you.”
* “Grow up, Alex. And my name is Susan.” She gestured for him to leave the kitchen ahead of her.
* “Lead the way, Susie.” He gestured right back. “If I have to go to the bedroom for any other reason, I'm going to revel in being immature and hormonal, and check you out while we walk.”
* Marching through the living room and down the short hallway, she tried to ignore where his gaze rested, but her stomach flip-flopped and every nerve ending sparked with awareness. “If you're so into backsides, you should have become a doctor, so you could see a new one every day.”
* “I don't want to see everybody's,” he said from behind her, so close his breath brushed her neck. “I have standards, and let me tell you, in those tight jeans, you've met and exceeded every one of them.”
* Despite the promise of heaven in his voice, the last thing she needed was a guy with a sworn avoidance of all attachments. She did not need a fling with a man who wouldn't stick around. She had a plan for permanence and stability and to build an organic dairy legacy. People would come and go from her life, but she could count on the farm and her university research to always be there for her.

A Look At Beth D. Carter & 'True North' @BethDCarter @Totally_Bound #motorcycleclub #menage

Today is my birthday and in celebration I'm happy to open my blog to my good friend and fellow author, Beth D. Carter! She has an awesome four book MC series with two companion books to follow and she's here to share some info on one.

First, Beth, what would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* A long time ago, my husband-at-the-time got into riding Harleys. I loved the exhilaration of being on the back of the bike. I had a jacket with red flames and our bike was painted cherry red. I even took a three day course to get my motorcycle license, and I passed…even though I laid the bike down twice.
* So when I write about what it feels like to be on a bike…I’m doing that from memory.
* I love to hear from readers so I’ve made it really easy to find me on the web. You can find my links later on in the post.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* First I'd like to share my thoughts on how "A Cover Says it All" and then I'm going to talk about True North.
* There is perhaps no other creative outlet that bares the writers soul quite like writing. Whether it’s writing poetry, songs or stories, the modern day bard has to tap into deep recesses of the soul. Writing stories can be a rollercoaster journey, full of emotional ups and downs as the writer tries to convey believable characters and situations. A writer pours their very essence into their creation, much like Dr. Frankenstein into his monster. Add a little electricity and pretty soon the author is shouting “It’s Alive!”.
* The first thing that draws our eye is beauty. And beauty is everywhere; the color and texture to a painting, the sun setting in the horizon, a favorite actor or actress, and in simple things like the smile of a child or the sparkle of a diamond ring. Is it no wonder, then, that the cover of a book must be absolutely perfect to set apart from the competition and draw the buyer’s eye?
* I will admit I am one of those people who will judge a book by its cover, at least initially. I see a beautiful cover and it makes me want to read what it’s about. I see a cover that’s not visually appeasing and I tend to pass it by. But with the rise in ebook publishing, it’s forcing the graphic artists who design these covers to be better and bolder. A cover artist is tasked with the job of interpreting the story through art, incorporating all aspects of what the bosses want verses what the author wants while producing something that will draw the reader/buyer in. It’s not an easy job.
* Now-a-days, with the cost of books (even ebooks), a story has to take full advantage of every strategy to grab the readers’ attention. The cover has to incorporate a lot detail, so it’s very important that the cover artist bears in mind not only the story, but what brings the story alive. Most publishers won’t consider that far, only content with producing a sexy look to market the book. But writers put their souls into each story, and the passion and romance pouring from the cover is very important.
* For my new novel “True North”, the heroine is Native American. I sent the cover artist the specifics of who she was, her personality, and what she was supposed to look like. I even sent a reference picture. I got an email saying that becasue my publisher was based in England, they didn’t have Native American stock photos. All she could promise was to do her best so I put my faith into the artist’s hands. She didn’t fail to deliver. Imagine my surprise when I received the proof of my cover and saw the lovely lady on the front.
* It is said a picture is worth a thousand words and I firmly believe that having a great cover is one of the best assets an author has. Even in the digital evolution of e-books, a cover is one of the most important aspects of giving personality to the story. It guides the reader into seeing the hero and heroine, bringing them to life and adding depth to the drama unfolding. All of which is needed for that brief time where the reader escapes into fantasy.

So, share a bit about True North and the series.
* True North is the second book in the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club Series. While the first book was more the precursor to this world, this book jumps right into the club. North Tabion is the president, and he’s trying to move the club out of the illegal activies into legit business. His best friend is the town sherrif, Givon Halloran. They grew up together with abusive fathers that made as close as brothers. When Allis comes into the mix, their friendship only grows deeper as they have to protect her from numerous threats.
* The series of the books, in order, are: Along Came Merrie, True North, When Dove Cries, and Lily Roar.
* There are also two companion books to the Red Wolves series: Mad Delights and Madness Ends, which feature the Men of Hell MC.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I love the tv shows Sons of Anarchy and Longmire, so my brain started to crossbreed the two. I didn’t want to do the obvious, though. One of the hardest things to deal with is the fact that the men are outlaw bikers. On one hand you have to stay true to the ideas set forth for one percenters but on the other hand, it’s a story where the heroes need to be redeemable. On SOA, they’re gun runners, drug runners, and have no hesitation killing someone. I decided to focus on a smaller club setting, more of a family. The first book is pretty tame, but the following books are focused on human trafficking, so things escalate. In True North, there is violence. You’ve been warned.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Hands down, North is my favorite character, and I think he’s my favorite through the whole series. He’s got a sarcastic sense of humor that I really love. His interactions with Givon are hilarious.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* Instead of a line, there is a scene where North talks Givon into getting his first tattoo. Givon is slightly...hesitant...to go under the needle. This scene kinda sums up their relationship perfectly!
** Once the stencil was in place and Branch had new gloves on, Branch bent over Givon’s side and touched the needle to skin.
** “Holy fuck!” Givon yelled, although he didn’t move a muscle. “This fucking hurts!”
** “Shut up, you pussy,” North said.
** “What the hell did I sign up for? Shit! Are you almost done?”
** North seemed to have a hard time holding in his laughter. “He just started. Don’t move.”
** “I’m not moving! Christ, the last thing I want him to do is make a mistake then I have to get a bigger tattoo to cover it up. Fuck. This is the last time I let you talk me into doing something like this.”
** “Once you get one you’ll want another,” North warned.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* North Tabion and Givon Halloran have been friends for all their lives. Each has survived an abusive father, only to end up on opposite sides of the law as adults. Givon is the town Sheriff while North is the leader of the outlaw motorcycle club, the Red Wolves. But they’ve managed to maintain a friendship that means everything to them.
* Allison Evening is on the run, hiding out from an ex bent on vengeance and tending bar when she’s kidnapped to be sold into human trafficking. In a desperate attempt to free herself, she runs, only to be shot down and left for dead.
* North and Givon are in the right place at the right time. They save Allis and as they nurse her back to health, the three find a bright, burning love. But when her past catches up with her, the only way to save herself and her newfound love is if she, North, and Givon can follow love’s true path.
~ Excerpt ~
* It took North a moment to figure out what had woken him up. His pocket vibrated with a text message causing him to sit up abruptly and pull his phone out. Two messages had come through from Draven. The first one asked if he was still at the hospital and the second was reminding him of church today.
* Absently he wiped the drool from his chin and blinked as he looked at Allis. She lay there smiling at him then reached up to smooth down his hair. He’d slept with his head on the edge of the hospital bed so Lord only knew what he looked like. His lower back was killing him from hunching over all night.
* Givon was still sleeping and North winced at seeing his friend’s head tucked onto his chest. Giv was going to have one helluva of a neck kink. He rose and stretched, his back popping. Then he bent over and placed a tender kiss on Allis’s forehead. Her eyes widened and he had the insane urge to claim her lips next and kiss her until they were both breathless and squirming. He wondered if his thoughts reflected in his eyes because damned if it didn’t look like an answering passion flared to life in her dark gaze.
* Instead of caving in to his base desire, he swiped a finger down her cheek, memorizing the softness of her skin, before reluctantly backing away from her and leaving.
