a look at Merryn Dexter & 'A Mate’s Redeeming Touch' @MerrynDexter @decadentpub #shifter #BlackHillsWolves

Today we have author Merryn Dexter visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Merryn Dexter is a military spouse who, after a varied employment career (from selling sandals to old ladies with bunions to being a health and safety coordinator for a construction company), is thrilled to be pursuing her dream career as a romance writer. She likes The Winchesters, Spike, Hotch, Loki and watching complicated European Noir. Her hobbies include crying at books, crying at movies, crying at tv serials (there’s a theme!) and believes all stories should have a Happy Ending.

Today Merryn Dexter will be talking about how she became a writer and what inspired her in regard to the story she's promoting.
* I became a writer almost by accident. I am friends with a number of authors I greatly admire as a reader of their work and got hooked on a multi-author series called Black Hills Wolves. There were 16 novellas at the time and I read them back-to-back. I became immersed in this new world and followed avidly as this devastated wolf pack tried to pull themselves together. During a casual conversation one of the creators of the series suggested I try my hand at writing a story for them and I laughed. I had been trying my hand at writing, something for myself more than with any real expectation of being published. After a sleepless night where my brain asked me why it was such a funny idea, I took a deep breath and requested the series bible from the publisher. Bibles are essential for multi-series worlds as they keep everyone on track and help to create a cohesive experience for the readers.
* I read the bible, thought about the books I’d read and an idea for a story came to me. I wrote furiously and before I knew it I had written the first draft of what would become A Mate’s Healing Touch. After waffling for a few days, I submitted it to the publisher, Decadent Publishing, on the grounds the worst they could say was no. They said yes.
* That was last summer. I had no idea how to write a story and the editing process has been a huge learning experience for me. The mysteries of showing vs telling have been revealed to me. Using outlines to guide a story development rather than just pantsing the whole way through without any clue what will happen next. Compromising and learning to take constructive critique (man oh man there were a LOT of tears during the development of book one!). With my publisher’s and editor’s help, A Mate’s Healing Touch was released in December 2015.
* My second story for the series, A Mate’s Redeeming Touch, has just released on 25th March 2016. When I wrote Healing Touch it became much more than a simple story about a hero and heroine meeting, it became about the families they came from as well. The hero Caleb got two older siblings, Caitlyn and Connor, and before I had finished book one, Caitlyn was already telling me her story. Where Healing Touch is about what makes a family (and it isn’t simply biology), Redeeming Touch is about survival and finding the courage to open your heart to another person. It’s also about the mistakes we make in trying to protect our loved ones and learning to let go of the past in order to create a better future.
* I have four other stories contracted. It’s a dream come true for me. If that sounds like a fairy-tale, then here’s my note of caution. There’s nothing romantic about writing romance. It’s hard work, mentally and emotionally taxing and like everything else in life, become a writer is a learned skill. It is a very competitive market and I am a tiny minnow in an ocean of great writers. But it is the best thing I have ever done and with hard work and application and the help of my muse I am determined to grab this opportunity and run with it.

* Ven Thorne is a lone wolf with a bad attitude caused by his difficult childhood. Forced to return to pack life, he is tasked with rebuilding the gas station on the outskirts of Los Lobos. Ven works for Ryker, the pack enforcer, and will act as sentinel and lookout when the station reopens.
* Caitlyn Burrows has recently returned to Los Lobos with her family. A victim of Magnum Tao, the pack’s evil ex-Alpha, she is terrified of men and her natural omega nature is making it hard for her to make friends. Her family is determined to see Caitlyn happy.
* A chance encounter between Ven and Caitlyn reveals they are mates, something that neither of them is happy about! He’s mean and angry; she’s timid and shy. Can two such opposites find common ground?
* Caitlyn decides it is past time to take control of her life and is determined to prove to Ven that she is the mate that he needs. Can she make him see that the Fates are right and that their only chance of happiness is together or will the ghosts from the past keep them apart forever?
~ Excerpt ~
* “I said, what do you want?” Ven sounded furious as he took a step towards her and Caitlyn shrank back, dropping the cooler as she raised her hands as though trying to ward him off. The box tipped over, spilling its contents across the scruffy lot and the man swore again. He stepped around the mess of food and drinks, advancing rapidly and she caught his scent, amber and dark wood beneath a layer of fresh sweat. Her wolf, normally so quiet, surged forward and she realized in terror that she was practically toe-to-toe with her mate. And he was mean and angry.
* Knowing what it was to suffer at the hands of a cruel man, she turned tail and ran as fast as she could. She plunged towards the relatively safety of the trees, kicking off her shoes and dragging her clothes free as she fled.
* Her wolf was whining at her to stop, but she pushed on into the heavy brush. Pausing to shed her jeans, she crouched, letting the shift take her over but making sure she retained enough control to force the wolf to keep running. The wolf howled, desperate to turn back, to catch again the glorious scent of her mate and offer her throat in submission to his dominant presence.
* A heavy crash behind had her doubling her efforts and her paws scrabbled over the soft ground, seeking purchase as she ran as though the hounds of hell were on her heels. She risked a glance over her shoulder and an involuntary yip of fright loosed from her throat. An enormous gray wolf was gaining on her with every stride, the snarl on his face more terrifying than the scowl he’d worn in his human form.
* She put on another burst of speed, her wolf suddenly in accordance that escape rather than submission was the best idea. Dodging around a massive pine tree, trunk broader than her back, she pulled up short at the remains of another fallen trunk that suddenly blocked her path. A snarl set her in motion again and her claws scratched at the bark as she desperately tried to clamber over the downed tree. The wood was soft, rotten in places and her front legs slid from under her as a huge set of jaws clamped around the thick fur at the back of her neck.

* After growing up as the only girl on an all-male hockey team, Coreene Callahan knows a thing or two about tough guys and loves to write characters inspired by them. After graduating with honors in psychology and taking a detour to work in interior design, Coreene finally gave in and returned to her first love: writing. Her debut novel, Fury of Fire, was a finalist in the New Jersey Romance Writers Golden Leaf Contest in two categories: Best First Book and Best Paranormal. She combines her love of romance, adventure, and writing with her passion for history in her novels Fury of Fire, Fury of Ice, Fury of Seduction, Fury of Desire, Fury of Obsession, Knight Awakened, Knight Avenged and Warrior’s Revenge. She lives in Canada with her family, a spirited golden retriever, and her wild imaginary world.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* My story Fury of Obsession.

* Dragon-warrior Venom lives in self-imposed isolation. Cursed by his toxic touch, he is deadly to anyone who has contact with him for too long. Set apart from others and hounded by intense loneliness, he craves the lasting connection he believes he cannot possess. Until a chance encounter with a sultry mortal offers a ray of hope…
* Evelyn Foxe is the woman of Venom’s every desire, but she’s too busy running from the Russian mob to think about love. As she accepts Venom’s offer to help her escape her precarious situation, she’s skeptical, afraid that he’s in league with those sent to harm her. But when a biological weapon is unleashed in her hometown, Evelyn is forced to trust Venom—or risk the dangers of going it alone.
* Will they survive the firestorm that rages around them? And can they pull from the ashes a love that will defy all the odds and last through the ages?
~ Excerpt ~
* Message sent.
* Venom received it just fine. “We aren’t doing anything. Not until I check it out first.”
* Wariness sparked in B’s gaze. Green eyes glittering in the low light, his commander eyeballed him. Venom met the perusal head-on, refusing to back down.
* “Okay, Ven. You’re on,” B said, relenting, giving him the go ahead even though it meant sending him into a human town alone. First in. Last out. Kind of like the US Marines. “We’ll take the day. Rest up, take a look at any new data Sloan collects before sunset, then fly to Granite Falls.”
* On board with the plan, Wick murmured his assent. “Good.”
* Expression thoughtful, Rikar scrubbed his hand over his jaw. Stubble rasped against his fingernails. “We’ll set up a perimeter—seven, maybe ten miles outside of town. Wait for Venom to clear the scene. Once he green-lights it, we’ll—”
* “Wait a second.” Brows drawn tight, Mac stared at him. He frowned. Venom smoothed his expression. No sense giving the game away. Smart with an extra helping of curious, the ex-cop would figure it out soon enough. But as Mac shifted focus to drill Rikar with a serious look, then turned to glare at Wick, Venom struggled to keep amusement at bay. His usual silent self, no help on the find-a-clue front, Wick didn’t say a word. Silence swelled. Playing another round of visual merry-go-round, Mac’s gaze bounced over the group, nailing each warrior before he gave up and scowled at Bastian. “No way we’re sending him in there, B. Humans are dropping like flies. Whatever bug Ivar’s cooked up could be contagious to Dragonkind.”
* Wick snorted.
* Rikar grinned.
* Mac frowned harder. “What the hell am I missing?”
* “Ven’s a venomous dragon, Mac. One of the most powerful of his kind,” Sloan said, as though the tidbit of information explained everything.

A Look the #anthology 'Sexy to Go' @eva_lefoy #shifter

Today we have author Eva Lefoy visiting and telling us about a wonderful anthology called Sexy to Go.

* I’m Eva Lefoy, the crazy brainchild of Sexy to Go, and today I’m here to answer your questions about Sexy to Go with some Q&A.

What kind of stories are in Sexy to Go?
* Vampires. Hot Asian men into BDSM. A werewolf. A slave. A starship officer who’s violated the rules. Couples who’ve just met, and those that have been together... literally forever. Something for everyone.
Why the variety?
* The main idea of the boxed set is to have a bit of everything available to readers, and also help them find new authors they like and love!
Why shorts and not full-length novels?
* These are stories for busy women who have trouble finding time to read. Most of the stories are short enough to read in one sitting.
How can I get more?
* Sexy to Go is a monthly boxed set. New stories, possibly different authors each time keep things mixed up and add to the surprise.
What if I like the characters and want to keep them?
* A few authors are doing serials – their stories will continue over several months. Check back to see what happens in the next instalment!
* Want to try a sample?
From Volume 1, here’s an excerpt from To Love Again by Allie Ritch:
* With an underhand pitch, I threw a fireball at the slavering attacker on my right. The missile left a hole clean through the creature’s torso, but I didn’t have time to admire my handiwork. I was already punching the underside of another’s arm to deflect a killing blow and kicking its two buddies back. Then I was flying again, only I could have sworn I’d felt human hands throw me.
* I landed in an undignified heap a good twenty feet away, sliding to a stop on the dewy grass. As soon as my head cleared, I sprang back up, ready for attack. None came. There in the distance, the reapers had a new foe to contend with, and this newcomer was packing a sword and a whole lot more muscle.
* A man had come to my rescue. He had hair like midnight, eyes of steel, and skin the color of milky moonlight. The way he moved was poetry, lethal grace and strength turned into art. Within minutes, he had the reapers chopped into little bloody pieces, and he didn’t even look winded.
* His gaze found mine. Wiping his sword clean, he returned it to the sheath on his back and strode closer. He was only average height for a man, but he seemed much bigger. The thought came out of nowhere that he’d been very tall for his generation. How the hell did I know that?
* When I got a better look at his face, my heart stuttered. I knew this man. Not just his looks, but the feel of his skin, the weight of his body over mine, the silky glide of his cock between my legs. We’d been lovers once.
* “Are you all right, love?” The deep timbre of his voice sent a sensual shiver all the way to my toes.
* “I am now.” I didn’t bother trying to fake my way through this one. “Who are you?”
* He didn’t answer in words. Instead, he grabbed the back of my neck, pulled me flush against his body, and claimed my mouth. His demeanor was aggressive, tinged by something like desperation, but his lips were gentle. And as he molded them to mine and swept his tongue behind my teeth, a dam seemed to burst inside my mind.
* I saw images—a cascade of memories from my previous lives: making love with him by the river, dancing with him in a grand ballroom, kissing him beneath glittering city lights.
* “Griffin.” The name came to me without thought, accompanied by a love so deep and bittersweet the emotion almost choked me.
* “You remember,” he whispered.

A Look At D. L. Jackson & 'Black Hills Desperado' @Dlaree69 @decadentpub #shifter #scifi

Today we have author D. L. Jackson visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* D. L. Jackson is an award-winning author of urban fantasy, science fiction, military romance and erotic romance. She loves to incorporate crazy plot twists, comedy and the unexpected into her worlds. As a U.S. Army veteran, she naturally adores men in uniform and feels the world could always use more. She does her part by incorporating as many sexy soldiers in her novels as she can. When she isn't writing or running the roads, you can often find her online chatting with her peers and readers. Grab a cup of iced coffee, pull up your virtual chair and say hi. She loves emails and blog visits from her readers. www.authordljackson.com

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Black Hills Desperado is part of the Black Hills Wolves series and is book three. It follows Rebecca Royce’s, Wolf’s Return and Heather Long’s, What a Wolf Wants. All are available for Preorder Now!

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I wanted a different kind of heroine, one who was smart, but a little rough around the edges. Xio fits my idea of a bad girl to a t.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Marcus is her exact opposite. FBI agent, good guy and ready to sacrifice everything to save his mate and get her on the right path.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Xio is a woman of mixed heritage, both Asian and white. She is a rebel and falls in with the wrong crowd and deep into the criminal underworld, not sure how to get out. My bad girl bank robber meets her match with FBI agent Marcus Cazador.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Xio. She has a long journey to redemption but in the end, I can’t tell you if she makes it or not. She’s as colorful and wild as her ancestors, a true outlaw of the Black Hills.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* “At last we meet.” And then he spoke the words she’d hoped never to hear. “You have the right to remain silent.”
* Which of course she doesn’t. I love this line because it changes everything for my heroine. She has to make a choice, decide which side of the law she wants to stand on, possibly costing her, her life.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* She’s a bad girlfriend.
* Nothing Xio Davis does is right. When she abandons her pack, riding out of town on the back of a stranger’s motorcycle, she finds she’s bitten off more than she can chew. First, it’s small-time crimes, then bank robbery. As Xio sinks into the criminal underworld, the FBI catches up with her. Now, she’s got one way out: snitch.
* When Xio turns state's evidence against a Mexican drug lord, Agent Marcus Cazador steps up to take her home, giving up his career, his place in the El Paso pack, and all he knows to protect her.
* Xio claims she’s not the same wolf who left ten years before, but can she convince Marcus she’s changed her wicked ways? Or will the Black Hills be the end of the road on her long journey to redemption?
~ Excerpt ~
* “Good morning, Miss Davis. Let me introduce myself. I’m Special Agent Marcus Cazador of the FBI. Didn’t anyone ever tell you banks are most often robbed within the first few minutes of opening? We figured you’d be here, after the invitation we’d extended. Safest bank in Texas. I can see you liked the billboard at the port of entry. You and I have a lot to talk about, but business first.”
* He’d used her real name, one she hadn’t heard in ten years. It sounded strange coming from his mouth, but also right, as though he’d been born to say it. Not good. This man was dangerous in so many ways. “Bite me.”
* “You have no idea how much I’d like to.” A knee pressed down into the center of her back, and he yanked her arms behind her and slapped cuffs around her wrists. He rolled her to her back, sat her up, and tugged the mask from her face. “At last we meet.” And then he spoke the words she’d hoped never to hear. “You have the right to remain silent.”

Welcome special guest: author Linda K. Hopkins ~ @GoddessFish #Fantasy #historical

Today we have author Linda K. Hopkins visiting.
* Linda K. Hopkins was born in South Africa, and grew up in Johannesburg. She left South Africa in her mid-twenties, and after spending a few years in England, finally settled in Calgary, Canada, where she lives with her husband and twin daughters.
* When she's not writing, she's usually reading (a great pastime when you are trapped in a snowbound landscape eight months of the year!), tinkering on the piano or just living life!

So, Linda K. Hopkins, what/who inspired you to become a writer?
* It was my mother who first encouraged me to write, and before writing my first novel, I spent many years writing for newsletters as well as business documents. However, my love of stories and storytelling came from the multitude of books I have read from the time I could first read.

When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
* Although I have spent my life dreaming up stories, it was only recently that I wrote one down. This full length manuscript (100 000 words) has been temporarily put aside, but I plan to come back to it at some stage, and eventually publish it.

How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
* One

What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
* The best writing advice I received was to write something you want to read. The worst - you can do your own self-editing.

The book you’re promoting, is it a stand-alone story or part of a series?
* Bound by a Dragon is the first book in a series. The second book will be available early 2015, so be sure to sign up for updates!

What sparked the idea for the story/series?
* I love fantasy and the supernatural, as well as the potential in romance. The idea for the story was actually born in a daydream, and started off as a short story that just grew!

*** Now for some fun info… ***
Would you/have you own(ed) a snake or some other exotic pet?
* The most exotic pet I have ever owned is a budgie!

Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?
* Sunshine and warm weather

If you could live anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?
* I would live right here on Earth - there is so much to see and experience, a lifetime is not long enough to do it all!

If you were stranded on a desert island and were only allowed to have five modern conveniences with you, what would they be?
* Laptop; Coffee machine; Flashlight; Hot, running water; Duvet (is that a modern convenience?)

*** About Linda K. Hopkins’ book/series… ***

~ Blurb ~
The dragon turned its head and seemed to look straight at Keira. Pulling her arm out of her sister’s, she drew herself upright and stared straight back, meeting the golden eye of the dragon before it turned its enormous body in a slow, fluid motion and lazily flew towards the mountains.
* A dragon has moved into the neighborhood of Keira's small, medieval village, unsettling the residents as they fear for their safety. All except Keira, who is fascinated by the creature, both dangerous and beautiful. But when Aaron Drake decides to take up residence in his ancestral home of Storbrook Castle, set deep in the nearby mountains, Keira finds herself unsettled by the handsome stranger. Why did he decide to move to Storbrook, almost eighty years after it was last inhabited, and does the dragon really live in the caves below the castle?
~ Excerpt ~
* As she watched the mighty beast before her, the dragon bent its neck into a graceful arch downward, bringing its face closer to Keira’s eye level, its golden cat-like eyes watching her intently. Keira quelled the desire to step back, instead keeping her feet firmly planted as she continued to gaze at the dragon.
* “Why did you take me?” she finally asked, shuddering at the thought of what might have been. She lifted her hand to her cheek, feeling the sting of scratches scored down her face. A flash of sharp teeth made her draw in her breath as the dragon replied with a growl.
* “I’m sorry Keira,” it said. “I should have been there sooner. When I think of what that boy was about to do …” The dragon stopped and pulled in a breath. “I shouldn’t have left him alive!”
* Keira trembled at the thought. “But why?” she said. “What does it matter to you?”
* The dragon stared at her for a long moment, until finally it breathed out a sigh, sending sparks flaring from its nostrils. “Come closer, Keira,” it said.
* Keira hesitated, wondering what the dragon intended to do with her.
* “I’m not going to hurt you,” the dragon said.
* She looked at the mighty beast before her and suppressed a shudder. Its claws rested on the ground, razor-sharp and menacing. She could see its pointed teeth and knew that it could rip her to shreds in an instant, or burn her to a crisp with one hot breath. One swipe of its massive tail could send her flying through the air, or leave her broken on the ground. Keira knew that the dragon could wield mighty power with barely any effort, striking fear into the hearts of many brave men. But as she looked at the dragon, gazing into eyes that blazed like the fire it breathed, she felt her fears slowly melt away.

* Lauren Madison’s life started unravelling at a speed too fast for her to keep up with. Every truth she had taken for granted was torn away, and the pieces that were left painted no clear pictures at all…only more confusion.
* The only pillar of strength in her fragile life was David Wagner, her bodyguard who was placed in witness protection. But, what had he seen that day, and why couldn’t she remember?
* She had no choice but to run. And if her life was threatened again, who would be there to protect her?
~ Excerpt ~
* David.
* I had to see his grave. I figured it would give me some closure since I’d probably never see him again. Dad had seen it fit to order a funeral service in addition to placing him in witness protection, in order to close up any loose ends. I couldn’t blame him knowing the types of people he was getting threats from. It seemed everyone wanted their hands in on his research, especially knowing that his team had finally narrowed down a microbe that could single out and fight certain cancer cells. He was close to a miracle. So close.
* Shaking my head I tried to recall why I was in this grocery store in Kingman, Arizona. I wanted to pick up some flowers to take to David’s grave, that’s it.
* Get it together, Lauren.
* And, what the hell was I thinking sneaking away in the middle of the night to drive to Arizona? Dad was going to be so upset. He’d probably fire Michelle, which was fine with me because she gave me the creeps anyway. I didn’t like the way she studied me. With her I felt more like a germ under a microscope than with any of my previous bodyguards. She was so stuffy. Actually, most of them were stuffy.
* Except David. He hadn’t been stuffy.

A #writer #SO 4 'Queen Bitch of the Callowwood Pack' by Siobhan Muir ( @SiobhanMuir @sirenbookstrand )

Today we have author Siobhan Muir visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
I’m not your ordinary romance author. My background is in paleontology, digging up dead things and identifying them with little more than lumps on teeth. For a while, I was the North American fossil fox expert. I might still be. ;)

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
Queen Bitch of the Callowwood Pack is the first in a Callowwood Pack series, but the muse hasn’t told me the other stories yet. I do know that Tawny and Zach will get their story, as well as Eloise and Kyle, but so far they’re still amorphous out there. However, Eloise’s sister’s story is coming along quite well. This is already an ebook, but it was released just this week in print.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
The Muse sent me a dream starring Russell Crowe as the hero, Jeff Lightfoot. In it, Jeff told me we had to keep our species secret from the humans at all costs, and this would be hard for me during the competition. Huh? After I woke up from the dream and wrote down a rough outline, it became clear that I’d stumbled across a pack of werewolves living in a rural Nevada town and they had strict rules when it came to leading/living in the pack. The story developed from there.

Describe the hero in five words.
Jeff is Primal, Determined, Strong, Intelligent, and Protective

Describe the heroine in five words.
Julianna is Feminine (without being girly), Persistent, Adaptable

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
I think I like Julianna most because she has to grow throughout the story. She has to learn everything on the fly and put it into practice immediately. And she never gives up on what she wants even with the obstacles seem huge. I like her growth and determination to win.

What's your favorite line in the story?
It’s actually a paragraph, but Jeff has just grabbed Julianna and she fought back. He admits to her if he’d known she was a werewolf when she was a teenager, he would have “taken her” years earlier. I love her response.
* “Taken me?” she growled, pushing to her feet. “You would’ve ‘taken’ me? You asshole, am I nothing more than a piece of tail to you? If that’s the case, go grab one of those other bitches. I’ve already experienced being treated like a piece of meat. I’m sure Brenda would submit to you willingly enough, with her tits against the floor and her ass in the air!”

~ Blurb ~
Julianna Morris didn’t know werewolves existed…until she became one.
* Hiding her new identity, Julianna returns home only to find her teenage crush, Jeff Lightfoot, is the future Alpha of the Callowwood werewolf pack. She’s unexpectedly chosen as a candidate for the pack’s next Luna, the Alpha female—and Jeff’s mate. This is perfect, except Julianna knows nothing about being a werewolf, and someone’s determined to make her fail the Seven Tests of the Luna.
* Jeff Lightfoot lusted after Julianna for years, even when he thought she was human. Now she’s home and all his—if she passes the tests. She’s his True Mate and he wants no one else, but pack politics trump Mother Nature and will prevent him from choosing Julianna if she fails.
* For the future she wants, Julianna must pass the tests to become Queen Bitch of Callowwood—or watch Jeff take another woman as his mate.
~ Excerpt (Adult) ~
* The hair on the back of her neck twitched. Silver moonlight painted wide strips of light on the floor of her room, making the shadows seem deeper than usual. She took a deep breath to calm down, but it hitched as a dark shape drifted across the carpet and paused at the foot of her bed.
* Dear God, what is that and how did it get in?
* The creature stood on its hind legs and shifted shape from wolf to man with the sounds of straining muscles and cracking tendons. She inhaled in surprise and caught the scents of warm summer night and mountain streams. When he’d shifted completely, he leaned on his hands at the foot of the bed, his golden eyes blazing in the hot darkness.
* Where is the AC when you need it?
* Julianna’s heartbeat kicked up higher, but not from fear. “Jeff? What are you doing here?”
* “I came for you.” His voice rumbled deep into her breast bone and she inhaled his arousal.
* “You didn’t wear clothes?” It was an inane question, but having him naked in her bedroom had short-circuited her brain.
* “I didn’t need them tonight.” Jeff pushed onto the bed and crawled up over her body, trapping her beneath the covers. “Not for what I have planned.”
* The moonlight caressed his hard, naked muscles, and cream flooded her pussy in a delicious rush. His cock hung stiffly below his belly, the flared head pointing straight at her, and she wanted to run her tongue over the slit weeping pre-cum. She tried to pull her arms out of the bedding, but he held her still. She whimpered and writhed in an effort to free herself.
* “What’s wrong, my little Lupine?” Arousal roughened his gravelly voice. “Is there something you need?”
* “Please, Jeff, let me touch you,” she whispered, wriggling more.
* “Not just yet.” He leaned forward and nuzzled her neck and shoulder. “Ah, Julianna, you smell so damn good.”
* The sensations of his nose and breath against her skin shot pleasure straight to her core, and her nipples hardened. She moaned and arched her back, rubbing the taut nubs against the sheets as she sought relief.
* “Oh, God, Jeff. What are you doing to me?”
* “What I’ve wanted to do from the moment I saw you at the funeral.” Jeff opened his lips and stroked his tongue down her throat onto her chest. He peeled back the blankets enough to expose her breasts and sat back to look at her in the dim light. “My, my, my. You sleep naked, lovely Mate. How lucky for me.”
* Jeff grinned and the flash of his elongated canines set her Sister to growling with approval. The growl erupted from Julianna’s chest and she shifted her shoulders, making her breasts jiggle. His molten gaze riveted to her swaying nipples and his grin faded.
* “I want you, Julianna. Here. Now.”
* He dropped his head and took her lips, thrusting his tongue between them as if he had a right to be there. Her squeal of protest ended in a long moan when his taste hit her tongue. Earthy, male, and so dominant, his flavor exploded in her mouth and sent cream flooding between her nether lips.
* Julianna tilted her head to take more of his wicked tongue, wriggling harder until she worked one hand free. She speared her fingers into his shoulder-length hair and held his head where she wanted it while their tongues battled for supremacy.
* Jeff pulled away and stared at her, his chest rising and falling with each breath. The aquamarine eyes of his wolf pendant winked at her, and she imagined it nuzzling her pendant when they came together, like true Mates.
* Mates…mates, why did that thought make her nervous? Wasn’t there something about the pack she was supposed to remember? Jeff pulled more of the blankets away and licked the soft skin on the undersides of her breasts. Her thoughts splintered and scattered, but she held onto one shard of warning.
* “But Jeff, what about the pack and the tests?” she whined while her Sister barked, Are you crazy? Don’t make him stop!
* “To hell with the pack and the tests,” he said as he pulled the covers away from her mound. “You’re my Mate, chosen by the Goddess, not some political pageant. And I’ve waited for you long enough.” He buried his nose in the hair of her mons. “Oh, Goddess, your scent is fucking amazing.”
* The sensation of his beard hairs dragging against her nether lips nearly shot her into orbit, and Julianna fisted the sheets to keep from launching off the bed. When he opened his mouth and stroked his tongue over the hood of her clit, she keened an ecstatic wail as stars exploded against her eyelids. Pleasure swamped her mind and the wet heat of his mouth melted her core.
* “Oh, God, Jeff. Do that again!”
