Constance Phillips & 'Chasing Power' #CoverReveal @CPhillips #NKBlogTours

Chasing Power Cover Reveal
by Constance Phillips

For Keiran Saysin, protecting the fairy population from humans is more than a job. It is passion and his duty to the realm. Since Eero’s revolution failed—and the discovery of fairy power lying dormant in some of the human population, that job hasn’t been easy. Now that his sister and her husband are welcoming a set of twins, old enemies have come out of hiding, hoping the children will a serve as a key to reclaiming what has been stripped from them.

Enter Annie Valentine, the genetic researcher Daniel’s mother has employed. Keiran knows the smart thing to do is cast a spell and push the human away, but something about the way she stands toe to toe and eye to eye has him forgetting that getting involved with a human could cost him everything he values, including his power.

Monique can control any human with a flirtatious smile and an attraction spell. Until she meets Daniel Elliot, the only human who's immune to both.

After her parents' death and an unwanted proposal, fairy Monique seeks refuge in the human world. Her brother has warned her of the dangers, but she believes hiding will be a breeze. She can control any human with a flirtatious smile and an attraction spell. Until she meets Daniel Elliot, the only human who's immune to both.

Can Monique's brother find her and bring her home before she falls victim to whoever is killing fairies on the human world?

Will the reason Daniel's fairyproof be too much for them to overcome?

When Tristan Ipsly becomes eligible to fill a vacated Council seat, he thinks his chances are non-existent. Especially since he is the sole member to a house the fell to the revolution and his contender Edwin Vettore is an elder from a house that adheres to Canon teachings.

If fairykind has a chance at survival, it will come on Tristan’s wings of change. Or so Quinn Vettore believes. But voicing her support for Tristan will anger her grandfather, and he’s the one man who can stand in the way of a courtship between Quinn and Tristan.

Will Edwin successfully keep both Quinn and the position out Tristan’s grasp, or will the Council yield to change?

Please Note this is a Novella

Beth Trissel & 'The Hunter's Moon' @BethTrissel @GoddessFish #YA #FantasyRomance

Today we have author Beth Trissel visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Married to her high school sweetheart, Beth Trissel lives on a farm in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia surrounded by her human family and furbabies. An avid gardener, her love of herbs and heirloom plants figures into her work. The rich history of Virginia, the Native Americans, and the people who journeyed here from far beyond her borders are at the heart of her inspiration. She's especially drawn to colonial America and the drama of the American Revolution. In addition to YA fantasy romance, she also writes historical, time travel, and paranormal romance, plus nonfiction.

A look into...
~ Blurb ~
* Seventeen year old Morgan Daniel has been in the witness protection program most of her life. But The Panteras have caught up with her and her younger brother. Her car is totaled, she's hurt, and the street gang is closing in when wolves with glowing eyes appear out of nowhere and chase away the killers.
* Then a very cute guy who handles a bow like Robin Hood emerges from the woods and takes them to safety at his fortress-like home. And that's just the first sign that Morgan and her brother have entered a hidden world filled with secrets.
~ Excerpt ~
* Oh, no. Was the wolf hit? Morgan prayed not. She sensed him trying to protect them, and couldn’t imagine why, or why he seemed like ‘her wolf’.
* Cries, like the shrieks of a panther, carried through the trees. A chill crawled down her spine. Were the woods filled with creatures she thought long gone from these mountains?
* More wolfish snarls erupted and snapping, tearing. Good. He lived. She nudged Jimmy. “Can you see anything?”
* He craned his head around the rocks. “Not through the smoke and fog.”
* Eerie howls rose from the surrounding woodland on every side. A whole pack must be gathering. Morgan wasn’t certain whether to be frightened, fascinated, or hopeful of rescue. Still light-headed, not sure she even saw clearly, she watched the black wolf reappear; with him, a great white wolf whose green eyes shone like starlight. The most extraordinary yet. Together, the two loped after the brown and gray one. Judging by the high-pitched calls, there were more wolves out there. And panthers, or were they mountain lions?
* Snarls, growls, and the shrieks of enraged felines ripped through the smoky shroud. The pack wasn’t after her and Jimmy. Not now, anyway.

A Look At Becky Wicks & 'The Day of the Wave' @bex_wicks @GoddessFish #historical #RomanticSuspense

Today we have author Becky Wicks visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Becky Wicks is mostly powered by coffee. She had three travel memoirs published by HarperCollins before going the indie route. Her first book in the Starstruck Series, 'Before He Was Famous' recently reached #1 in Amazon's Coming of Age and New Adult & College categories. The second in the series, 'Before He Was Gone', and the third, 'Before He Was A Secret' are both out now along with 'The Day Of The Wave' - a romance based around the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.
* Becky blogs most days at beckywicks.com and always welcomes distractions on Twitter: @bex_wicks (especially if you have cat photos)

Today Becky Wicks will be talking about what authors do when they're not writing.
* We drink coffee, and maybe gin. OK, both.
* Sometimes all I do, all day, is drink coffee and stare at my laptop. It’s not exactly the healthiest of lifestyles is it? I’m well aware I’m 35 and should possibly be out there maybe babies but seriously, I’m BUSY. (Oh, but this is set to change now that I'm in Vancouver and using the Tinder app, right? Dear future husband, I'm here!)
* We dream
* The world in my head often demands far more of my time than the one outside of it and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in that respect.
* We read, read, and read some more!
* When I do shut that laptop, I read. I read everything, from other books in the new adult genre, to the classics, to articles on self-publishing and books on reincarnation – I've always been really into that!) I think I want to write a book, a romance, based on reincarnation somehow. I'm fascinated by the thought that we've lived before and that we're here to learn lessons of some kind.
* We hang out with other writers!
* I have a friend I met in Bali who’s an author too. Her name is Sarah Alderson and she wrote the YA books Hunting Lila, The Sound, Fated - also the new adult Come Back To Me, which is a tear-jerking journey of awesomeness that you NEED to read. When we get together we tend to do things like this to lighten the mood:
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSnbVBSitYI
* We’re probably bigger Disney fans than Sarah’s 8 year old daughter and the Frozen movie always cheers us up, especially when someone writes a bad review of one of our books (boo!).
* We listen to Taylor Swift a lot, too.
* I think Taylor gives out a very powerful message to young women, and us writers, too. You have to believe in your own worth. And never give up on your dreams. Whenever you’re having a bad day, just Shake it Off!
* So yes, we sing, we talk, we read, we act like idiots and we keep on searching for inspiration.
* Sometimes we come up with some great ideas when we’re out there not even expecting them to strike! Here in Vancouver I find that talking a long hike or a walk around a city park or lake really clears the cobwebs from around my brain and helps the ideas start flowing again!
A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Torn apart by the tragedy. Thrown back together ten years later by destiny... Isla and Ben were just sixteen when the Boxing Day tsunami ripped through their beach resort in Thailand. Just days after forming a life-changing bond, both were missing and presumed dead.
* Based on real life events, The Day of the Wave is a story of healing, learning to let go, and figuring out when to hold on with everything you have left.
~ Excerpt ~
* It's a clear night by the time we get back to Shady Palms. Izzy promised to go see Lawan again soon and after seeing the way they hugged when we left, I know she sees her as some kind mother figure now. My heart bleeds for what she lost, what happened to her, going through hell in all those hospitals. She didn't want to live for a while. She said it. She actually said it. I felt the same way after losing Toby.
* 'I can't stop thinking about how your real name is Isla,' I tell her as we walk onto the beach in front of our huts, drop to the sand and gaze out at the glistening ocean. Her head rests on my shoulder and the hair that's come loose from her braids tickles my face.
* 'You're an island, Izzy,' I say. I say it out loud because I was thinking it, just now at Lawan's when I was watching her mouth move, the scars glistening on her arms in the lamplight. 'You rose above the waves to survive.'
* 'I never thought about that before.' She drags a finger through the sand. 'Everyone always says I'm one of the lucky ones, but I always wondered why I was left out. Why did I survive when so many other people died?'
* 'Tell me about it.' I rest my head on hers. 'We both kind of died in it and lived at the same time, I think.'
* 'You've lived more than me,' she snaps back, almost angrily. 'Being alive is everything, Ben. It's all that matters - the now. I feel like I've been wasting my life so far! I don't want to go back that job, or London.'
* 'Then don't.'
* Her head springs up and her eyes shoot up to mine. Something in her gaze draws me in again, right down those damn corridors into a place I always get lost. I know what she's thinking though, and my stomach knots till my breath shortens and I have to tear my eyes away. She's thinking this is the start of something and it's my fault. The thought is like a fork in a toaster, shooting out warning sparks now, not the good kind. What am I doing, with Izzy of all people?
* Don't think about it.
* She puts her hand to my cheek, turning me back to her. 'You OK?'
* 'I'm OK,' I tell her quickly, 'just having a hard time believing this is all happening.'
* 'Maybe it was supposed to,' she says, shuffling around to sit in front of me, cross-legged, covered in sand. 'Isn't that what you said, at the waterfall?'
* 'I don't know, Izzy.' I say it under my breath. Her eyebrows knit together but in a second I'm kissing the doubt away, willing the thoughts to stop colliding in my brain; the ones that scream how right she is, and this is, and the ones that scream this has to stop. I pull her back with me. She's in my head and my heart and my soul but I'll hurt her, like I hurt everyone. How could I not, in the end?
* Don't think about it.
* I kiss her harder and her arms wrap around me till she's on top of me on the sand and I'm swimming in the ocean of her, and not the thoughts that try to drown me every time I get my head above the water
* She's good for you.
* But Ben. She doesn't know the half of what you know.

Welcome special guest: author Robin Heggelund Hansen #RobinHeggelundHansen @GoddessFish

Today we have author Robin Heggelund Hansen visiting.
What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Robin is a person who wears many hats, being both politically active and a software developer. First and foremost however, he is a story teller who enjoys science fiction and horror.
* Robin was born on a cold winter night in Oslo, Norway, 1989. Growing up, he was always fond of telling stories, leading people to wonder when, not if, he would move on to writing stories of his own. Inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, he wrote his first short story, 'Beneath', in 2015.

So, Robin Heggelund Hansen, what/who inspired you to become a writer?
* I’ve wanted to tell stories for as long as I can remember. At an early age I inspired to be a filmmaker. I didn’t even consider writing before my fourth grade English teacher started reading my stories to other pupils.

When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
* I know I’ve written a lot of stories at an early age. The first that comes to mind though are the stories I wrote in English class back in fourth grade. I wrote short stories revolving around a Sherlock Holmes inspired detective. My teacher liked it so much she started reading it to her younger pupils. They weren’t long, maybe ten or twelve pages, and they were ridden with spelling errors and the like. But I guess the story was fun enough. If I remember correctly most of those stories were in a notebook, which I gave to my teacher at the end of the semester as a parting gift since I was moving away.

How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
* I don’t know. I’ve written a lot of stuff, in many different forms and genres. I’ve written manuscripts for short films and feature length films. I’ve also made several attempts at writing an entire novel, but I haven’t had the patience for it. Then after high school I hardly wrote anything. It was only recently that my passion for writing was re-kindled, and I think it had a lot to do with the fact I never did publish anything, and I wanted to see if I could.

What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
* The best advice I’ve received is simply to write something everyday, no matter how much. Getting a habit of writing every day really is the first and best thing you should do.
* The worst advice I’ve ever received is to never use semi-colons. They’re awesome; why wouldn’t you use them?

The book you’re promoting, is it a stand-alone story or part of a series?
* It’s a bit of both really. It is a part of a series, but the story is standalone, as are the other stories in the series. The series really is Eldritch City and what happens there. So every story is about Eldritch City in some way, but you can read them in any order as you see fit.

What sparked the idea for the story/series?
* I’ve always been interested in shows like X-Files and Fringe. I’ve also been particularly interested in the works of Lovecraft. So while writing ‘Beneath’ I thought to myself: This is cool, but why is it happening? That thought sparked other thoughts and ideas like: what if things like this happens in a specific location? Sort of like the Loch Ness monster, or the Bermuda triangle. What if there is a city where mysterious things happen, and what would such a place look like?

*** Now for some fun info… ***
Would you/have you own(ed) a snake or some other exotic pet?
* No. I’m not really a pet person, but even if I was, my mind would constantly imagine what would happen if a snake, or whatever, got out of its cage and decided to turn on its master. I would never be able to sleep.

Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?
* Depends. If I’m inside I prefer rain. I find it mesmerizing and could stare at it for hours. It also allows me to focus for some reason. Of course, when outside I prefer it not to rain. I hate walking in wet clothes as much as anyone. When it comes to temperature I prefer it to not be to cold, and not to warm. I don’t want to feel cold, or sweat after walking hundred meters.

If you could live anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?
* I’m pretty happy where I am. A home is what you make of it, and every place has upsides and downsides, so why not make where you are as good as home as you can make it?

If you were stranded on a desert island and were only allowed to have five modern conveniences with you, what would they be?
* That’s easy: - A hammock - A blanket - My computer - Someone who could cook - Someone who wanted to read the things I wrote
*** About the book… ***
~ Blurb ~
* Nine years have passed since the tragic and mysterious deaths of Mr. Phillips and his daughter. A new clue surfaces, one which the lead investigator will follow to the brink of insanity.
~ Excerpt ~
* To whoever reads this: I feel that I must apologize if what you find on these pieces of paper appears to be nothing more than a collection of near-indecipherable words. I can assure you that I have tried everything I can think of, and yet I cannot keep my hands from trembling. This, however, is only a symptom of my much greater problems.
* I cannot eat, or sleep, or even close my eyes for longer than the briefest of moments. I feel as if I’m about to lose my mind, but I’m clear enough to realize that I have to get this story off my chest, before it consumes whatever sanity I have left. Unfortunately, the only recipient I can trust with a story as bizarre and horrible as this are the same pieces of paper upon which these words are written.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~

What he never anticipated is falling in love with a woman who ignites his desire to create a new future for himself and for her.
* A love neither can abandon...
~ Excerpt ~
London, England
January 1816
* Ruby took a deep breath before trying the final drawer that could hold all the answers to her past, her true heritage. Her lungs expanded; she held the air inside. She didn’t exhale until it burned. With trembling fingers, she reached for the last drawer and pulled.
* Her nicely trimmed nails nearly snapped when her grasp on the handle slipped from the force of her tug. The drawer hadn’t budged.
* Locked!
* “Oh, poppy cocks!” she hissed. Moving her hands to the folds of her evening gown, Ruby procured a small pouch tucked neatly into a hidden pocket. Setting it on the desk, she pulled out her array of lock-picking devices, really only hairpins and small wires she’d collected since her first night—and her first failed attempt at breaking into a desk—to help her disengage the drawer.
* She had to know what secrets this lord held. Would she find an envelope inside labelled ‘Abandoned Daughter,’ or a report from the Bow Street Runners with details about herself—her hair color, the particular green shade of her eyes, places she’d been, perhaps the details of her activities over the course of her life?
* Nothing worth finding was that simply ascertained.
* No man, married or not, would leave record of their nefarious past. It was more likely her father had not spared her, or her mother, a second thought after throwing his pregnant mistress from his townhouse in the middle of the night with no coat and no means to get home.
* Ruby was anything but a fool, but she found herself continuing to search regardless. She didn’t need a signed confession—she just needed that letter opener.
* Picks in hand, she knelt before the locked drawer and eyed the keyhole, blowing a wayward strand of hair that had fallen across her face. She’d been unsuccessful more often than not when attempting to open locked drawers. But luck may have been on her side this evening. She’d entered the ball with little fuss, shortly after the host and hostess had quit the receiving line. It was surprising how similar the layout of most London townhouses were. Ruby had navigated the halls of the second floor and found the room she sought fairly quickly, encountering not a soul.
* The pins slipped into the lock and her tongue darted out of her mouth to lick her lips as she concentrated on moving them exactly right to click the lock over. She fought to keep her hands steady when sweat broke out across her forehead. She was running out of time.
* Ruby applied a bit too much pressure and the pin snapped, falling uselessly into the locked drawer. “Damn you to hell, mother!” she cursed and sat back, wiping her slick brow.
* She’d always viewed herself as a sensible girl, a dutiful daughter, and an honest friend. She could only imagine the horror on Vi’s face if she saw her now. A common thief. A midnight prowler. A defiler of privacy.
* Although, it could not be helped.
* She sought answers and at the moment all she had was an endless list of questions.
* Gaining her feet once more, she bundled her kit and slipped it back into her pocket. She turned her attention to the long table against the wall behind the desk. Leaning over, she ran her hand along the underside of the ornately carved piece, feeling for hidden compartments or—if her luck returned—a forgotten folder of papers.
* “Sherry, Miss Ruby?” an oddly familiar voice asked behind her.

A Look At Mari Mancusi & 'A Connecticut Fashionista in King Arthur’s Court' @marimancusi @GoddessFish #romcom #historical

Today we have author Mari Mancusi visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Mari Mancusi is a two-time Emmy award-winning television producer and author of novels for adults and teens. A graduate of Boston University, she now lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and young daughter. When not writing or producing she enjoys traveling, snowboarding, reading fantasy novels, and her favorite guilty pleasure: video games.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* My historical, romantic comedy story, A Connecticut Fashionista in King Arthur’s Court.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
"Sparkling debut...a nice twist on the modern girl's search for prince charming." -- Publisher's Weekly
* Once upon a time there lived an outspoken fashion editor named Kat, who certainly was not your typical damsel in distress. But when a gypsy curse sent her back in time to the days of King Arthur, she found she'd need every ounce of her 21st century wits (and pop culture references) to navigate the legend. After all, surviving a magical plot, an evil prince, and a case of mistaken identity--all without changing history or scuffing your Manolos--takes some doing!
* Luckily, she's got her very own knight in shining armor, Lancelot du Lac, on her side. The honorable-to-a-fault and devastatingly handsome champion insists on helping her out, even though she's not quite sure she wants him to. After all, shouldn't he be off romancing Queen Guenevere or something? Will Kat manage to stay out of trouble long enough to get back to her beloved lattes, cosmopolitans and cashmere? And what will Lancelot's forbidden love mean for the kingdom of Camelot?
~ Excerpt ~
* "Tell me, lady, what is the future like?" Guenevere begs, eagerness dancing in her blue eyes. "I must know! Is it too wonderful for words?"
* Hm, What part of the future does she want to know about? I mean, should I inform her that she and Lancelot are destined to get caught in a compromising position? That their betrayal leads to the downfall of Camelot? Or should I gush on about the modern wonders of indoor plumbing, stretch fabric, and vodka-and-Red Bulls?
* No, I'd better keep on track—warn her about Lancelot. Seems more important than, say, an in-depth discussion of the miraculous invention of deep-dish pizza, no matter how good it tastes—compared to, let's say, pigeon.
* "You want to know the future? I gotta tell you, Guen, it's not looking so good for you and Lance. In fact, you might want to stay away from the guy. From the movies I've seen, King Arthur's knights, who are, like, totally jealous 'cause Lance is such a good knight, persuade Arthur to pretend to go hunting so you think you're alone in the palace. You go to get some action—I mean, you go make love to Lance— then they charge in on you and catch you together in his bedroom. They"—I clear my throat, not wanting to bear the bad news—"sentence you to burn at the stake."
* Guenevere laughs—not a chuckle either, but a full-on, bellyaching laugh. She falls back onto the bed to continue her unabashed snickering, not taking me a bit seriously, obviously, and I feel a bit offended. Maybe I should have introduced her to the concept of microfiber purses and air-conditioning instead.

A Look At Liza O’Connor & 'Saving Casey' ( @Liza0Connor @decadentpub #SO )

Today we have author Liza O’Connor visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I love life-endangering adventures.
* From diving with the great white shark to rafting down a twenty-one foot waterfall, I've done it.
* I can fly a plane, parachute from a plane, and hang-glide out of the way of a plane.
* I have deep sea fished, fly fished and raised fish in the pond I built in my backyard.
* I can kayak whitewater or seas, raft class five rivers, and scuba-dive into the oceans, where once a giant stingray attacked me.
* I have spent grueling hot days carefully unveiling diplodocus bones, riding a suicidal horse up a mountain to fly-fish and almost enticing a dominant male buffalo of a very large herd to run me down. (I just had to get closer for a photo op.)
* Some of these activities, I am actually good at. Others, I was lucky to survive. But all of them make great fodder for my characters to go out there and live life to their fullest.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My first book to be published: Saving Casey.
* Eighty-year-old Cass wakes up in the body of a troubled seventeen-year-old girl named Casey, which all believe has survived a suicide attempt. Cass intends to turn the girl’s life around, only it’s harder than she expects. All Casey’s troubles have now become Cass’s and someone wants her dead.
* Here's a fabulous book trailer, created by Danielle Fine/Definition: http://youtu.be/WxcaMP0Dgzc

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
Actually, I blame it on all my friends who have teens. I wondered if the teens were ignoring their parents’ good advice on principle or because it’s simply not relevant to their problems. That made me question if our life experiences would help at all if we were in their bodies, living their lives, or if raging hormones simply take over and tramples all that valuable life experience.

Describe the hero in five words.
Protective, loyal, determined, sexy, and honorable.

Describe the heroine in five words.
Stubborn, determined, witty, sarcastic, and alone

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* That’s a dangerous question, because if I say my heroine (which I want to say) and my dog reads this blog, then I’ll be in big trouble, because I put my dog, Jess, in the book, in the first and last chapters. Thus, in those chapters Jess is my favorite. In all other chapters, New Cass has to be my favorite. She’s funny, sarcastic, smart, determined, and refuses to be a victim. Although, as time goes along and we know more about Old Casey, I fall in love with her as well. Both are remarkable characters, with a great deal in common with one another. And then there’s hunky, honorable Troy, who loves Cass, but refuses to go there because of their age difference.
* This is an unfair question. It’s like asking a mother which child she loves the most.

What's your favorite line in the story?
I feel like a comedian working the wax museum crowd.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Having been diagnosed with cancer, Cass Goldman decides to opt out of any futile medical care and end her life. While she has some thoughts on afterlife, she never expects to reincarnate into the body of a seventeen- year-old girl named Casey Davidson.
* When she awakens in a hospital, Cass discovers two disturbing facts. One, she is now inside the body of a troubled teenager, and two, the former owner of this body committed suicide, but only Cass knows that. Everyone else believes Casey has survived, but suffered a complete memory loss. Cass has two choices: to take on Casey’s life and turn it around, or to confess the truth about her reincarnation and end up in a mental asylum. Cass decides to take on the future life of Casey, a frightening ghoul-faced teen with short, black, spiky hair.
* Every person around Cass has an ulterior motive and discovering the truth of Old Casey’s life is more complicated than the ‘new math’ she is forced to learn in school. In addition, Cass has to contend with raging teenage hormones and the prior crimes of Old Casey, which she might not remember, but everyone else certainly does. However, her biggest frustration concerns her feelings for her father’s rugged security specialist who sees her only as a teenager and doesn’t want to explore the mutual attraction between them.
~ Excerpt ~
* Upon settling down on the toilet, she noticed the floor to ceiling mirror facing her and screamed at the sight of the creature within in it. Short black hair spouted about its head, black circles surrounded both eyes and fell like triangular knives down the cheeks. Black lips, stretched in horror as if in a nightmare. Pulling up her pants, she moved closer to the mirror.
* She was a ghoul, an honest to God ghoul!
* The door crashed open and her father stared at her, fear and panic clear in his eyes.
* Touching her face, she looked up at him. “Please tell me these aren’t permanent.”
* His panic remained a second longer as her words filtered into his brain and then he pulled her into his arms. “Don’t worry; we will get them removed—if you want to.”
* “If? Oh, I definitely want them removed.”
* How the hell could she turn around this life if she looked like the walking dead from a low grade monster movie?
