Colleen Charles & 'Talisman' @booksbycolleen @GoddessFish #SweetRomance #Paranormal

Today we have author Colleen Charles visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Colleen Charles is the pen name of Tami Stark, #1 Bestselling Author on Amazon.
* After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I'd always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I'm the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don't miss the corporate world. It's been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn't right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let's just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye.
* It's sad but true.
* Here's what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line.
* My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied.
* I've never worked so hard in my life but it doesn't even feel like work. It's worth it. All of it. Because it's about the joy that's found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you.
* Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend ... that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you.
* I love to hear from my readers and answer all communications personally.

Today Colleen Charles will be talking about what sparked the idea for the story/series.
* Do you ever have one of those crazy ideas so inspiring that you bolt out of a dead sleep in order to write it down? You just can’t forget it. That happened to me one night a couple of years ago when I thought it would be a unique story premise to write a paranormal romantic comedy from a cat’s point of view.
* And no sex. It had to be clean so my nephew could read it. To date, this series are my only clean romance books. My mom thanks me daily.
* I have two purebred, ragdoll cats, Bingham and Finley and I often wonder what they’d say if they could speak. Actually, I know what they’d say and it probably wouldn’t be something I’d want to hear. Anyone with a cat knows they’re pretty arrogant, demanding and fussy. Thus, the main character in the Fur Magic series, Talisman was born and modeled after Bingham.
* The best part of the series was unleashing my acerbic sense of humor. And I did. It’s really Colleen Charles on the page. Around the change of year to 2016, Talisman hit #1 in both Paranormal Romance and Romance Short Reads on Amazon and it stayed there for a whopping two weeks! I call it the little book that could and I’m so proud of it. Mostly because it’s so close to my heart and so close to who I am as a writer and person.
* I hope you enjoy, Talisman, the first book in the Fur Magic series. And if you have cats that own you or their personality traits shine through Talisman, please post their photos on my Facebook page. I’m looking forward to hearing from you and I answer every reader communication personally.
* Much love,
* Colleen

* Just one kiss to break the spell...
* That's all she needs.
* Cursed by a jealous witch, Penelope DeLacroix's spells are all going wrong and backfiring, creating havoc in town. The vengeful witch won't quit until she has all of Penelope's powers. And all it will take is one perfect, heartfelt kiss from Penelope's one true love to put an end to all this turmoil.
* The only problem? Penelope has no idea that Dr. Lucas Collier, the compassionate local veterinarian, is in love with her. Nor does he know that she's in love with him. They're both too stupid to figure it out.
* But I know.
* And I have to do something about it.
* But what can I do?
* I'm only her cat.
* What?
* Every witch has a cat.
* I'm hers.
* I'm Talisman.
* And I'm going to fix this.
~ Excerpt ~
* “Jessie! It’s so great to see you,” Penelope exclaimed as she strode forward and enveloped the much older woman in a warm embrace. “I don’t think I’ve seen you since this summer when you were accepting your first place award for your apple pie at the Shadow festival. Did you bring one with you? I just love your pie.”
* Jessie grimaced, her face a contorted mask of wrinkles and sadness. Maybe loneliness. I’m really smart and talented but I’m not a mind reader. Who knows what had prompted this surprise visit from the old bat.
* Jessie padded her plump figure over to Penelope’s armchair in the receiving area of the shelter where Pen’s desk sat, all worn mahogany and ornate scrolls. She liked to spend quiet evenings there doing paperwork while she allowed the animals to roam free around her. She’d speak to all of us in her lilting tone not knowing that we understood her perfectly.
* And we wanted to respond, we really did. Unfortunately, we could only communicate with each other and had to use gestures and actions to try to get through to our mistress. Even though Penelope was a witch from a long line of ancient witches, her powers didn’t involve any kind of telepathy as some other’s did.
* As Jessie sank in to the overstuffed chair, a whooshing noise exploded throughout the room when the air escaped from the cushions under her ample girth. Too. Much. Pie.

A look at Austyn Sherrie & 'Love Resurrected' @austynsherrie @WildRosePress #SweetRomance

Today we have author Austyn Sherrie visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
Austyn Sherrie is a high school Language Arts teacher by day and a romance writer by night. When she’s not teaching students, or taking care of her husband, sixteen-year-old son, and cat named Dracula, she’s in her office penning stories close to her heart. She is the author of eleven novels, and several journal articles under different pen names.

Today Austyn Sherrie will be talking about what sparked the idea for her series and this story.
* Love Resurrected was sparked by my love of everything that encompasses theater, and the idea of childhood sweethearts resurrected lost love. Prior to my career as a high school teacher I worked in theater. I’ve always loved the idea of romance blooming in the creative atmosphere of live production, so with a little push from my muse, I wrote the first story in a (3) book series - Center Stage.
* My hope is that my readers come to love Julia and Parker in Love Resurrected as much as I do. The thought of resurrecting lost love amongst the backdrop of a revival of Jesus Christ Superstar warms my heart. I hope the story touches my readers in the same way it did me.

“Austyn Sherrie captures readers with charming characters and a quick wit. I highly recommend her stories.” ~ Johanna Riley, author of For the Love of Matty
“This author is one to most certainly keep your eye on, her writing keeps you intrigued and she demonstrates creativity with her story lines, characterization, and adorable humor. I am definitely going to keep reading Austyn Sherrie.” ~ Susan Tkaczuk

* Parker Davenport is the best actor in Broadway Theater. Although he’s achieved golden status as the romantic lead in various productions, he still aches for the woman he left standing at the altar eleven-years earlier. He accepts the lead role in a well-known revival as a way of winning back Julia Sloan’s heart.
* Julia Sloan is an actress with the voice of an angel with a reputation for giving an emotional performance that leaves not a dry eye in its wake. She jumps at the opportunity to work with a famous director as a lead vocalist in a play. A barrage of emotional turmoil breaks loose when she discovers the man who failed to appear on their wedding day is the lead actor. Will she forgive him and accept their resurrected love?
~ Excerpt ~
* Her stomach clenched with excitement as she made her way toward the alley to find the backstage door. Under the guidance of famed director Jacqueline Van Busen, Julia would learn technique in its rawest form. A desire every serious theater actress yearned for.
* In her anticipation, she hauled open the door, beelined through the entrance, and headed down the narrow hallway toward the stage. Her body tingled with eagerness as she walked onto the round platform.
* After a quick familiarization of her surroundings, she scanned the theater looking for Ms. Van Busen, but instead of finding the director, she found something else. Correction, someone else.
* You’ve got to be kidding me.
* She did a double and then a triple take.
* Her heart palpitated, as if it’d stopped a beat. The intense gaze of his familiar green eyes hit her first. Like a freaking ton of bricks. Memories of why she’d never returned to Orlando for more than a few days each year flooded her. Choking back the urge to be sick, she bit back a gasp to keep from drowning in her own emotions. The words her therapist told her to never forget whispered in her mind. A man can only hurt you if you allow it.
* She pulled herself together at least for the present time. A once-over of him couldn’t hurt. So she let her gaze roam.
* Parker Davenport, looking like a Greek god, leaned against one of the prop pieces and stared. A lock of ebony hair swept across his forehead, and a stray piece plastered against his brow. His form-fitting jeans hugged every inch of his sturdy body. He wasn’t bulky muscular, just down-right perfect. His white T-shirt clung to his body, and the patches of sweat near his armpits and neck even looked sexy.

Should she hand over the infant to his father and walk away, or should she honor her cousin's wishes and raise the baby as her own?
* The more he behaves as a playboy, the more Kevin Grady wants a family of his own. The beautiful realtor next door and her “inherited” baby seem like the perfect opportunity. The startling discovery that her baby is his couples disbelief with anger, and he storms off with his son.

A Look At Melissa Shirley & 'Reading His Mind' @missyshirley2 @decadentpub #sweet #romance

Today we have author Melissa Shirley visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I am from a very small, Midwestern town and I have eight kids. I started writing after a personal tragedy and haven’t stopped since. I became a Decadent Publishing author when I found their call for Beyond Fairytales and this is my second Decadent novel.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Reading His Mind is my latest novel to be published through Decadent. It is prequel to the Beyond Fairytales story For the Love of Geese and it features Dylan’s brother Jace and his old friend, Lyric.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I actually wrote this one first. I love the small town feel of some books and that’s what I did with Dylan, I put him in a small town where everyone knew everyone else. But I love legal things and Lyric has such a special gift, I thought she could do something great with it and she needed to tell her story. At the same time, she needed someone to love because her family life was a little less than what a girl hopes for. The idea for Lyric came first and I knew her man would have to be strong and self-confident enough to deal with her special gift. Jace was perfect for her.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Wow, five words is hard. Athletic. Handsome. Playful. Witty. Did I say Handsome?

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Gifted. Smart. Independent. Sarcastic. Afraid.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Jace is absolutely my favorite. He has moves that I had no idea he would have.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* “You could stay with me.” My head whipped toward Jace.
* I nodded. “I could, but it would be so cold, what with Hell having frozen clear over.”

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Lyric Brenner is not your average girl. Her start in life was rough. She hardly speaks to her twin sister. And, oh yeah. She can read minds, dabble in the thoughts of others. On her own since she was sixteen, Lyric learned to use her gift to land a lucrative high dollar job in the court system, protect herself from liars, cheats, and baristas with bad attitudes and, more often than not, amuse herself.
* Lyric has never forgotten Jace Laugherty or his kiss. Running into him again seems unlikely. But a little shoe-icide, a crazy ex, and a dinner gathering her whole dysfunctional family together, paves the road to happiness with lopsided cobblestones. Can they find love before they lose each other again?
~ Excerpt ~
* As suddenly as he’d become playful, he turned the tables, gazing at me while holding my hand between both of his. “What about you, my little Lyric? Can you see yourself kissing it better?”
* Hell, yes, I could. I cleared my throat, blinking away the stars in my eyes. “You’d better stick to the barflies and the bachelorettes, mean boy. Flirting with me is pretty useless.”
* “Yeah?”
* I nodded, pulling away.
* “Why is that?” Jace had never met a challenge he didn’t like, and I’d just issued one by accident. Maybe.
* If my hammering heart hadn’t been enough to set me on the run, the mischief written on his face would have had me searching out the nearest exit at warp speed. I hopped off the barstool and swayed, certain my next move would be to hit the floor.
* Jace’s arms came around me, and a new kind of dizzy clouded my vision. “Where’re you going?”
* “You’re too sexy and too pretty, and I’m weak. I should go before I do something stupid.”
* His eyes, the exact color of the most comfy jeans I owned, half closed as he looked into mine. “You can’t say something like that then leave me here alone,” he whispered.

A Look At Liza O’Connor & 'Saving Casey' ( @Liza0Connor @decadentpub #SO )

Today we have author Liza O’Connor visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I love life-endangering adventures.
* From diving with the great white shark to rafting down a twenty-one foot waterfall, I've done it.
* I can fly a plane, parachute from a plane, and hang-glide out of the way of a plane.
* I have deep sea fished, fly fished and raised fish in the pond I built in my backyard.
* I can kayak whitewater or seas, raft class five rivers, and scuba-dive into the oceans, where once a giant stingray attacked me.
* I have spent grueling hot days carefully unveiling diplodocus bones, riding a suicidal horse up a mountain to fly-fish and almost enticing a dominant male buffalo of a very large herd to run me down. (I just had to get closer for a photo op.)
* Some of these activities, I am actually good at. Others, I was lucky to survive. But all of them make great fodder for my characters to go out there and live life to their fullest.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My first book to be published: Saving Casey.
* Eighty-year-old Cass wakes up in the body of a troubled seventeen-year-old girl named Casey, which all believe has survived a suicide attempt. Cass intends to turn the girl’s life around, only it’s harder than she expects. All Casey’s troubles have now become Cass’s and someone wants her dead.
* Here's a fabulous book trailer, created by Danielle Fine/Definition: http://youtu.be/WxcaMP0Dgzc

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
Actually, I blame it on all my friends who have teens. I wondered if the teens were ignoring their parents’ good advice on principle or because it’s simply not relevant to their problems. That made me question if our life experiences would help at all if we were in their bodies, living their lives, or if raging hormones simply take over and tramples all that valuable life experience.

Describe the hero in five words.
Protective, loyal, determined, sexy, and honorable.

Describe the heroine in five words.
Stubborn, determined, witty, sarcastic, and alone

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* That’s a dangerous question, because if I say my heroine (which I want to say) and my dog reads this blog, then I’ll be in big trouble, because I put my dog, Jess, in the book, in the first and last chapters. Thus, in those chapters Jess is my favorite. In all other chapters, New Cass has to be my favorite. She’s funny, sarcastic, smart, determined, and refuses to be a victim. Although, as time goes along and we know more about Old Casey, I fall in love with her as well. Both are remarkable characters, with a great deal in common with one another. And then there’s hunky, honorable Troy, who loves Cass, but refuses to go there because of their age difference.
* This is an unfair question. It’s like asking a mother which child she loves the most.

What's your favorite line in the story?
I feel like a comedian working the wax museum crowd.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Having been diagnosed with cancer, Cass Goldman decides to opt out of any futile medical care and end her life. While she has some thoughts on afterlife, she never expects to reincarnate into the body of a seventeen- year-old girl named Casey Davidson.
* When she awakens in a hospital, Cass discovers two disturbing facts. One, she is now inside the body of a troubled teenager, and two, the former owner of this body committed suicide, but only Cass knows that. Everyone else believes Casey has survived, but suffered a complete memory loss. Cass has two choices: to take on Casey’s life and turn it around, or to confess the truth about her reincarnation and end up in a mental asylum. Cass decides to take on the future life of Casey, a frightening ghoul-faced teen with short, black, spiky hair.
* Every person around Cass has an ulterior motive and discovering the truth of Old Casey’s life is more complicated than the ‘new math’ she is forced to learn in school. In addition, Cass has to contend with raging teenage hormones and the prior crimes of Old Casey, which she might not remember, but everyone else certainly does. However, her biggest frustration concerns her feelings for her father’s rugged security specialist who sees her only as a teenager and doesn’t want to explore the mutual attraction between them.
~ Excerpt ~
* Upon settling down on the toilet, she noticed the floor to ceiling mirror facing her and screamed at the sight of the creature within in it. Short black hair spouted about its head, black circles surrounded both eyes and fell like triangular knives down the cheeks. Black lips, stretched in horror as if in a nightmare. Pulling up her pants, she moved closer to the mirror.
* She was a ghoul, an honest to God ghoul!
* The door crashed open and her father stared at her, fear and panic clear in his eyes.
* Touching her face, she looked up at him. “Please tell me these aren’t permanent.”
* His panic remained a second longer as her words filtered into his brain and then he pulled her into his arms. “Don’t worry; we will get them removed—if you want to.”
* “If? Oh, I definitely want them removed.”
* How the hell could she turn around this life if she looked like the walking dead from a low grade monster movie?

Tuesday Tea with Erin Pryor ~ Keys to Bending Time ( #SO @ErinPryorAuthor @DecadentPub )

Hi all! Grab a cup of tea – or whatever it is you like to drink – and join in the discussion. Today we have Erin Pryor giving us a look into time travel, gates and fate. Welcome Erin!

“Time travel...will never be impossible forever.” ― Toba Beta, Betelgeuse Incident
    From the very first moment I picked up a Lynn Kurland novel, time travel intrigued me. To this day, I don’t know what made me pick up one of her novels, but I’ve been hooked on her writing since that day ten years ago. I would walk around thinking to myself “if I was trapped back in time, I would…” then I would fill in the blank. I came up with many scenarios in my mind and just as many responses. I loved the thought of possibility. If time travel could actually happen, what would that person who had the key to bending time do with it? Would they stop a war from happening, remove a past regret, or change the path in life they’ve chosen? Or maybe they wouldn’t want to change a thing, not desiring to disrupt the balance of life.
    When considering the realm of time travel as a writer, there are many circumstances and situations you must figure out before you determine how you are going to execute a believable time travel piece. The biggest question is how. How on earth are you going to get your characters from one time to another, and what are the ramifications of the time jump? And even though the prospect of the act is unrealistic, the fact is you need to make it believable.
    My favorite author, Lynn Kurland, has chosen a means to get her people to and from. There is a map of Scotland and England, where there are “gates” that get you to a certain era in time. Careful not to step on the one that’ll lead you to the wrong place and time!

I got my inspiration from Lynn, though I didn’t really use her formula. In Pillars in Time the “gate” is a bench. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But it is my “key” to the past, and to the future.
    Writing with the goal of time travel in mind, I really needed to figure out how my “gate” worked. I determined that “fate” determines the traveler of time and nobody can force the gate to bend to their will. That only “fate” knows when a person is supposed to be where at what time.
    I also decided that both “realities” run parallel to one another. So, a month in medieval Scotland is the same as a month in the current time period. The reason I did this is to avoid mass confusion as to the time jump and what “could” happen and when.
    If you are writing a time travel piece, you need to solidify what your plan of attack is. How is time going to bend to your will as a writer? And, most importantly, how are you going to make it believable to your reader?
