Binding Spells & Surrendering with Jewel Quinlan ~ @JewelQuinlan #MWTease #interview

Welcome to the middle of the week!
Mid Week Tease is an event where authors are spotlighting a few lines or a paragraph or two from their stories. Readers, you get to sample some delicious snippets and be teased, titillated and tantalized into the weekend!

This week I'm happy to give my blog space over to Jewel Quinlan, author of Surrender Sweet Succubus and other wonderful stories. She's going to share some information before her tease. Enjoy!

A look into the story

~ Blurb ~
* When Dr. Stephen Wallace, a fertility specialist from Sydney Australia, is approached by his brother and sister-in-law for help conceiving a child there is no way he can refuse. Since they have already exhausted all the possibilities modern medicine can provide, Stephen turns to his skills as a shaman for alternative solutions. His search leads him to Las Vegas, Nevada on a slim lead to capture a succubus who he hopes has the power to help. But when he meets Geneva, the exotic and passionate succubus, he finds himself being captured instead.
~ The Tease! (a.k.a. Excerpt) ~
* “I came here because I was looking for a succubus…” he began.
* “Mm hm. Well, you found one.”
* He lost his train of thought as she rolled a tube of lipstick over her lips. The same lips that had been wrapped around his cock last night doing the most wicked things to him.
* She finished and started to walk back into the bathroom but her feet stopped short just before the door as if she had hit an invisible barrier. The look on her face was almost comical.
* “What the…?” She backed up a step and then tried to move forward again but was halted once more in the same place. She reached in front of her and grabbed the doorway then tried to pull herself through but from the waist down, nothing else moved.
* “What the hell is going on?!” She sounded scared now.
* He stood. It was working, the binding spell was working! “Okay, I don’t want you to get upset but I put a binding spell on you.” He couldn’t help feeling bad about it. It wasn’t really in his nature to cast such spells but it had been necessary.
* “You did what?” Her tone turned to acid and her eyes narrowed.
* “A binding spell,” he repeated, “So you can’t go more than three yards away from me. Sorry, were you trying to go to the bathroom?”
* He moved closer to give her more slack so she could go in. She stumbled slightly as the perimeter of the bind shifted. She straightened, looking even more upset, and moved away from the bathroom towards the front door.
* “How dare you!” she raged. “I am not to be held in bondage by any man. Release me at once!” Her hands scrabbled at the door behind her for the knob.
* “I’ll remove it I swear! It’s just, I need your help with something and I didn’t want you to disappear. I wasn’t sure how you would react when I told you I knew what you were.”
* “You think I’m going to help you now!?” She looked like she would hit him if she could. Her eyes blazed emerald fire.
* “I think, when you listen to what I have to say, you will.”
* “And what if I don’t want to listen? You’re going to force me?”
* He started to negate it but then stopped. She was right. The look in his sister-in-law’s eyes had haunted him since they’d spoken. He couldn’t let her down. Couldn’t let them both go on with the heartache of being childless. He shook his head, not knowing what to say.
* “That’s it, I knew it! You men are all the same. You just take what you want and bend other people to your will.”
* He held his hands out to her in pause. “Now look, I don’t even know if you can help me. I just wanted the opportunity to discuss it with you. That’s all. But before we do there’s something else I have to tell you about.” Better to come clean right away. He slowly inched forward towards her.
* She yanked the door open. “I don’t care! Whatever it is, I’m not doing it you jerk!” she said, turning to go.
* He quickly called out, “I just wanted to be honest and tell you…”
* She took one step and then crumpled into a heap on the carpet.
* “…about the sedative.”

A Look At Kai Shepherd from 'Extreme Heat' ~ @JewelQuinlan @evernightpub #rotg #newadult

..Today we have Kai Shepherd visiting from the story Extreme Heat. Welcome!

..Kai Shepherd, what would you like to tell readers about yourself?
......I’m from outside of Melbourne, Australia. I grew up in a small town there. After graduation I picked up a few sponsors and went pro as a kiteboarder. That’s what I do full-time and I love it. I’ve been to some amazing countries for competitions and can’t imagine doing anything else.
......The story Jewel Quinlan wrote is about the time when I ran into Chloe Gaige. She was my dream girl when I was young so it was a real surprise to run into her after five years at one of my kiteboarding competitions. There was no way I was going to let her slip through my fingers again.

..Does your author ever try to take over the story? And how do you deal with it?
......Jewel is pretty good about staying out of it. With her I have the opposite problem. She really gets into my inner thoughts and some private moments. Most of the time I’m too busy to notice her lurking around, kiteboarding competitions take all my focus and so does Chloe. It’s only later, when I read her work, that I get embarrassed about some of the things she’s picked up shared. It’s okay though, she’s got a job to do so I understand.

..If you were taken out of the story and placed into your author’s world, what would be the first thing you’d do?
......I think I’d take Jewel out for a beer (Fosters of course) to thank her for doing such a good job. And then I would check out the beaches to see where there might be some good spots for kiteboarding.

..If you could pull your author into your world, what do you think would happen to them?
......Jewel would love it in my world. She’s told me she likes to travel. The three of us could go see some of the sights in Morrocco. I think she and Chloe would get along really well since they are both shy at heart. I also think Luke would pick up on Jewel, he has a thing for brunettes.

..What was the best sexual experience you’ve had?
......That’s easy, it was my first time with Chloe. We were in a hammock…I probably shouldn’t say any more.

..Now for some author information!

Now for some book information!
A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
......When photographer Chloe Gaige gets assigned to cover the Pro Kiteboarding finals in Morocco she never expects to run into her childhood crush. Back then, their age difference is what caused her to pull away. Would he resent her for how she treated him back then?
......Fully grown, pro kiteboarder Kai Shephard is a tough competitor used to going after what he wants…and getting it. When he catches sight of Chloe in the crowd with her camera, nothing can stop him from trying to be with her again. Except Chloe, that is. Would she see him for the man he is now?
~ Excerpt ~
......“I’m glad you’re here, Chloe.”
......“You are?”
......He turned his head toward her and looked into her eyes, his hands pressed into her back, drawing her closer. “Because I’ve thought of that night hundreds of times.” His words were loaded with meaning.
......Chloe skimmed her eyes over his handsome face. He was positively smoldering with emotion. She swallowed hard. This was the moment, the one she would never forget. Her eyes locked on his and her mind churned over the different signals and sensations her body was picking up.
......“Have you?” he whispered.
......They were so close. His lips were right there, and he could kiss her any second. His deep, dark eyes were drawing her in.
......She nodded.
......He lay still, waiting, but she said nothing more. “You have to give me more than that,” he said. “I still don’t know what happened. I thought you liked it when I kissed you.”
......Anxiety filled her. It was time to come clean. What would he think of her reasons? How would he see her after she admitted what a weak person she was? “I did,” she said blurted. “It was just….”
......His clasp on her back remained firm and he turned his body to face hers so their fronts were pressed together. “Just what?”
......Chloe could feel her face filling with the heat of embarrassment. Did he really want to talk about it? “It was just…school and my friends and….” She stopped and buried her face in his chest, not wanting to say anything more. He smelled so good. The warm scent of athletic male and ocean breeze.
......He grasped her chin with his hand and lifted her face. “What else?”
......Looked like she wasn’t going to be able to get out of explaining.

A Look At Jewel Quinlan & 'Stealing Cupid’s Bow' ~ @JewelQuinlan @decadentpub #romcon #erotic

Today we have author Jewel Quinlan visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* From a young age, Jewel Quinlan had an abundant imagination and strong desire to write novels. She particularly enjoys writing paranormal and fantasy romance. An avid traveler, she has visited fifteen countries so far (which she enjoys using as settings in her novels) and has plans to see more of the world. She has a particular fondness for Bavaria and studies the German language as one of her hobbies. During the day, she works as a pharmaceutical sales representative and, at night, she writes romance. She currently lives in Orange County, California with her two dogs; Shimmer and Penny.
* For more information visit her website and blog or you can follow her on Facebook and Twitter (links below).

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My new release Stealing Cupid’s Bow came out on February 12th. It is a single title Fantasy Romance.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* Things strike me at the most random times. I actually thought of this one on a Valentine’s Day a couple of years ago. It all began with the thought “What would happen if someone stole Cupid’s bow?” and then after that a whole serious of other questions followed “Who would do it? How would they do it? etc.” It all flowed naturally from there.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Powerful, sexy, gorgeous, disillusioned, kind

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Hopeful, loving, stubborn, determined, sweet

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* I absolutely love the main characters, of course. But there is also something about Donovan, Alexander’s right hand man, that makes me want to write a story about him. He is the classic stoic and cool kind of guy with a sharp eye that misses nothing. I feel a sequel coming on…

What's your favorite line in the story?
* She watched in awe as two sleek, giant, wings unfurled and stretched to their full wingspan, framing his silhouette.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Recently heartbroken, Raine Daniels arrives home in Las Vegas, Nevada, to help with her parents’ fortieth anniversary party only to discover they are planning to separate as soon as the last guest walks out the door. Everything she thought she knew—her very foundation is rocked to the core.
* When she learns that Alexander, the sexy stranger she’d sat next to on the plane, is really the god of love, Cupid—she asks for his help, but he declines. The god of love, now long divorced from Psyche and living on earth among mortals, no longer believes in love.
* Raine decides to take matters into her own hands, even if a god tells her she’s wrong. With her life falling apart around her and the solution seemingly within her reach she dares to try and make everything better. Unfortunately, she’s unprepared for the consequences of stealing Cupid’s bow …
~ Excerpt ~
* The man Alexander watched sank down on one knee while retrieving something from his pants pocket.
* Alexander changed his stance at the same time. Out of nowhere a bow appeared in his hands. He quickly notched an arrow from the right side of the quiver on his back. He drew and took aim, gazing along the shaft of the arrow.
* From what she could see there was only one target apparent in that direction: the woman.
* As he released the arrow, a scream rose from within her, but the sound caught in her throat. The gleaming shaft streaked across the space and sunk deep into the woman’s chest, emitting a shower of golden sparks on impact. A second arrow struck the man as well and another cloud of gold erupted. She stopped walking and, since their arms were linked together, Jane did, too.
* “Did you see that?” Raine asked.
* Jane glanced at her. “See what?”
* She pointed in the direction and her cousin peered up ahead.
* “What is it, Raine?”
* Her cousin wasn’t reacting at all and neither had either of their mothers. And none of the people that had passed right by the scene of the crime were disturbed. She looked again at the couple, afraid of what she might see…and blinked.
* There was no blood. No body lay on the floor. No arrow shaft stuck out from either of them. Quite the opposite. The woman was unharmed and glowing with happiness. She had accepted the ring and the man was now swinging her around in joy.
