A Look At Elise Alden & 'Pitch Imperfect' @elise_alden @GoddessFish #romance #contemporary

Today we have author Elise Alden visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Elise reads, writes and revels in romance, and is never happier than when caught up in a heart-thumping, sweat-your-socks-off tale—hers or somebody else’s. She loves creating stories about flawed characters, people for whom love isn’t simply a question of boy-meets-girl, but a gut wrenching journey of transformation.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* I'm sharing a blurb from my contemporary romance story, Pitch Imperfect.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Once-famous singer Anjuli Carver has returned to tiny Heaverlock Village alone and nearly broke. She’s poured every last penny into a rambling Victorian manor, hoping to start over. Trouble is, her money pit is falling to pieces and the only restoration architect for miles is Rob Douglas…her ex-fiancĂ©.
* For eight years, Rob has regretted not telling Anjuli why he never answered her letters. Being left at the altar broke his heart, but being used for sex one night in London after the fact nearly drove him to the edge of sanity, and he’ll be damned if he allows Anjuli to wreak havoc on his life again. He’ll restore her manor, all right, and give her taste of her own medicine while he’s at it.
* But how long can revenge last when memories of their shared past keep rushing to the surface?
* Soon, Rob wants answers. Why did Anjuli leave the international spotlight to become a recluse in the Scottish Borderlands? And why does she refuse to sing? Anjuli wants nothing more than to be left alone with her grief, even as she struggles to keep her sexy fantasies about Rob in check. With gossipy villagers, interfering friends and more secrets between them than notes on a scale, Anjuli and Rob will need to find forgiveness in order to work together, then decide if they’re willing to risk it all on an encore performance.

A Look At Alison Packard & 'Breaking His Rules' @Alleyfics @GoddessFish @carinapress #romance #sports

Today we have author Alison Packard visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Alison now lives in Southern Nevada where she’s still getting used to the blistering summers and the slot machines in every grocery store.
* When not working at the day job that pays the bills, keeps a roof over her head, and supports her book and chocolate habits, Alison spends most of her free time writing. But when she takes a break, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

What are you going to tell us about today?
* My Contemporary Romance: Breaking His Rules

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Losing fifty pounds is an incredible achievement. But for Melissa Atherton, progress doesn’t come with praise—a scathing comment from an evil cousin at a bridal shower threatens to crush her new self-esteem. Who will she bring to the upcoming wedding? Showing up without a date would be humiliating. It just isn’t an option.
* Personal trainer Jake Sawyer was attracted to Melissa before she lost weight, but her progress has him floored. When she admits she plans to hire a male escort—and why—his heart all but breaks. Melissa’s come too far to be knocked down, especially by her own family. He’ll go as her date…and figure out a way to keep his hands to himself.
* But when a steamy hotel room encounter takes them both by surprise, Jake balks. He’s sworn never to date one of his clients, not again. And Melissa can’t bear to be just friends with the man who treated her so tenderly, even if it was only for a weekend. Jake’s helped her see she’s strong enough to stand up for herself, but will she find the strength to pursue the only man who’s ever seen the real her?
~ Excerpt ~
* “Jake. There’s something I have to tell you.” Melissa pointed a pale pink-tipped finger at him. “It’s important.” She paused to stare deeply into his eyes and when her tongue stroked her lips with a soft sensual lick, Jake had to fight the urge to lower his head and do what he’d wanted to do all night. Taste that tempting mouth of hers.
* “You gotta fight for your right to party.” Her impish smile and the sound of the elevator doors opening snapped him out of the sexual undertow that had almost pulled him under and he guided her out of the elevator and onto the carpeted hallway of the second floor of the hotel. “I love that song,” she added, oblivious to the effect she was having on him.
* “Yeah. I could tell by the way you were belting it out in the truck.” Jake pulled the room key card from the back pocket of his jeans as they reached their room.
* “Thanks for letting me pick the radio station.”
* He let go of her to slide the card into the card reader and open the door. “You’re welcome.”
* “Whoa, Nellie.” Melissa clutched at his arm as she swayed to the side. “Sorry. It’s the shoes,” she said as she steadied herself.
* “I think it’s the tequila shots.”
* “No. It’s the shoes,” she said emphatically as she let go of him and moved into the room. “I don’t normally wear heels this high.”
* Jake grinned and shook his head as he closed the door and tossed his keys and the card on the dresser. Melissa’s tolerance to alcohol was much like that of his brother, J.T., who after a couple of beers was pretty much toasted. Odd for a guy J.T.’s size, but true nonetheless.
* “And you normally drink two beers and four shots of tequila?”
* “It was only three shots.” A cute frown furrowed her brow. “I think.” She flung her purse on the bed and put her hands on her hips as she turned to face him. Her eyes raked boldly over his body. “You know what? I bet I could teach you to dance.”
* “I know how to dance. I’m just not good at it.”
* “That’s because you don’t practice.” She snapped her fingers and did a little shimmy. Jake’s breath jammed in his throat at the sight of her full breasts bouncing under her form-fitting top. “You can’t improve if you don’t shake what your mama gave you.”

A Look At Rosie Claverton & 'Binary Witness' @rosieclaverton @GoddessFish #Mystery #PI

Today we have author Rosie Claverton visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Rosie Claverton is a screenwriter and novelist. She grew up in Devon, daughter to a Sri Lankan father and a Norfolk mother, surrounded by folk mythology and surly sheep. She moved to Cardiff to study Medicine and adopted Wales as her home.
* Her short film "Dragon Chasers" aired on BBC Wales in Autumn 2012. Currently exiled to London, she lives with her journalist husband and their pet hedgehog.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Binary Witness is the first novel in The Amy Lane Mysteries. The second novel Code Runner will be out in September.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I've always enjoyed crime fiction, but was never brave enough to try my hand at it. In 2011, I wanted to participate in NaNoWriMo and I had multiple ideas competing for my attention. The characters of Amy and Jason popped into my head for a quick cuppa, made themselves at home, and refused to leave. I chose to set the novel in Cardiff because I spent five years living in the small Welsh city, and it lends itself to a serial killer story where the cops don't know how to handle it and they're under a national media spotlight.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Jason is street-smart, protective, rough, soft-hearted and (mostly) reformed.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Amy is anxious, depressed, talented, affection-starved and resilient.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* My favourite character is Cerys Carr, Jason's baby sister. She's the embodiment of younger sibling nuisance, but provokes Jason's protective streak - whether she wants it or not. As the series progresses, she grows into a woman who knows her own mind and will fiercely fight to protect those she cares about.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* “Jason? Jason, what was that?” Sound filtered back in and she heard a voice that could be Jason’s, but quieter—farther away? He pushed the phone away, her numb brain supplied. He’s keeping the connection open so you can find him.
* She’d tell him, when he got home, that he didn’t need to take that kind of risk, that she’d already traced him within ten seconds to an area the size of a king-size bed. He was watching too many movies. He was putting his life in danger because of CSI.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Police detectives rely on Amy Lane to track the digital debris of their most elusive criminals--when she's not in the throes of a panic attack. After two students disappear in Cardiff, Amy uncovers photographic evidence that they've been murdered. From the safety of her computer, she looks through the city's digital eyes to trace the steps of a killer.
* Amy's investigation requires footwork, however, and the agoraphobic genius can't hack it alone. She turns to her newly-hired cleaner, ex-con Jason Carr. Jason is fascinated by both Amy and the work, and can't refuse even when she sends him into situations that risk returning him to prison.
* The killer strikes again and again, and Amy and Jason are the only investigators closing in on him. But Amy's psyche is cracking under the strain, and Jason's past is catching up with him. To stop the next murder, they must hold their unconventional partnership together at any cost.
~ Excerpt ~
Amy hacks the forum...
* Bryn flipped open his notebook over his fingers, worn wedding ring outside the shield of soft black leather. His ex-wife must be speaking to him this week. He read out the web address as she typed, and it loaded in seconds.
* “Band fan forum. Nu metal.” Generic BB template, basic customisation—poor effort. She could’ve knocked together a better site in fifteen minutes.
* She could feel Jason leaning over her shoulder and tried to control her urge to tense, to move. He was a big guy, intimidating, a skinhead with old-fashioned tattoos wound around both his arms. But he could’ve been any guy, really. It didn’t take much to spook her.
* Out of the corner of her eye, she watched him scan the text, tongue slightly protruding from between pink lips. He scratched absently at a smattering of light brown stubble on his chin—he was probably one of those guys who had a five o’clock shadow at midday. His dark brown eyes flickered across the screen faster than she expected. The educational attainment of the prison population wasn’t exactly renowned.
* “Crash and Yearn? They’re more punk pop.”
* Bryn looked at him with amusement. “This is what you bring to the table, boy?”
* Jason scowled at him. Amy felt like the referee on some bizarre American wrestling show.
* “The original post is down,” Amy said, scanning the forum. “Not the ‘dead naked girl’ types. I’ll find the archive—you got that before it went dark?”
* Her simple yet thorough methodology for profiling and password trawling involved a lot of social networks and a bit of hacker’s intuition. The old science fiction trope of advanced technology seeming very like magic unfolded before her audience.

A Look At Jael Wye & 'Ladder to the Red Star' ~ @jaelwye @GoddessFish @CarinaPress #scifi #romance

Today we have author Jael Wye visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I grew up on the American Great Plains, went to school in the Midwest, and now live in beautiful New England with my family and my enormous collection of houseplants.
* For more of Jael’s unique blend of futurism and fairy tale, don’t miss her ongoing series Once Upon A Red World.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My new release is Ladder to the Red Star, a retelling of Jack and the beanstalk set on a ruined planet Earth 300 years in the future. This science fiction romance is the second book in my Once Upon a Red World series, which follows the lives of Martian colonists and the men and women who love them. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone, because it retells a classic fairy tale with its own resolution for the main characters. However, every book in the series also delves deeper into an overarching conspiracy that threatens the inhabited planets of the Solar system. To understand how the threads of this plot begin to unravel, read Ice Red Book I of Once Upon a Red World first.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I first conceived of the idea of retelling fairy tales in a science fiction setting about five years ago, inspired by the science fiction worlds of Kim Stanley Robinson and Linnea Sinclair. How would magical motifs like enchanted mirrors and golden eggs translate into technological miracles like video screens and data spheres? Even more importantly, how would the social and psychological structures of fairy tales appear in a futuristic world? The concept intrigued me so much I just had to write it all down and share it with everyone.

Describe the hero in five words.
* A difficult challenge! All right, Jacques, the hero is; gorgeous, blond, smart, damaged, and possessive.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Devi, the heroine would be; sexy, dark, brilliant, fun, and commitment-phobic.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* A lot of writers and readers identify with the heroine of a book first, but I always have a soft spot for the heroes. Jacques is the perfect combination of ruthless power and emotional vulnerability wrapped in a beautiful male package. He just melts my butter.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* One of my favorite lines comes in the scene where Jacques is trying to convince Devi to marry him, and she isn’t sure he’s really ready to commit to her alone. He says, “There are never going to be other women. None of them could compare to you. You are the most beautiful, brilliant woman in all the Sol. You blind me. You ruin me. It will only be you, forever.” Sigh…

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Once upon a ruined Earth 300 years in the future...
* Jacques Tallinn, biotech smuggler and thief, is after the cure for a brain disorder he's suffered since childhood--a disorder inflicted by a powerful tyrant. To get the cure, Jacques will need to climb the space elevator to the new Zenith space station hovering above Earth and go undercover in the lab where it's produced.
* Martian head tech Devi Chandra is immediately intrigued by her sexy new lab assistant. Though she insists on keeping things professional, she finds herself charmed by Jacques. Until he betrays her trust, kidnapping her and spiriting her off to Earth.
* All Jacques needed to do was steal the biotech and get back home. But when things go wrong, he can't bring himself to leave Devi behind. Now she's injured and a simple caper has become an intergalactic cause, endangering his life and the lives of millions of others. But the hardest part? Winning back Devi's trust.
~ Excerpt ~
* Jacques leaned back against the wall across from Devi’s com booth, scanning the large, busy room. He didn’t like this. The com center was crowded with consoles and bustling with people wandering through on all sorts of business, some legitimate, most not. At any other time, the scene wouldn’t bother him, but with Devi near, his nerves were strung tight as wires.
* Danger was drawing close. He could see no threat, but he could feel one, taste it in the air like the crackle of a lightning storm. He had to get Devi out of here, back to Santos where she would be safe.
* But what if, after talking to her mother, after remembering the life he had stolen her from, she didn’t want to go with him?
* A bead of sweat trickled down his neck. If she came out of that booth and asked him to take her to a spaceport, he was truly afraid of what he would do. That he would become ten times the ruthless, soulless bastard he had always believed himself to be. That he would keep her, whether or not she wanted to be kept, whether or not she hated him for it.
* She was his life. How could he give up his life?
* He closed his eyes, and for the first time since he was a child, he prayed to Heaven.
* Please. I can’t let her go.
* “You don’t have to. I’m staying with you, Jacques.”
* His eyes shot open. She was standing across from him in the open com booth, a shine of happiness on her that made his breath stutter as he looked at her. Unknowingly, he had spoken aloud, and she had heard and answered his prayer.
* A hot bright light burst inside him, joy so profound it was beyond words. He stepped toward her, entranced.
* That was when the assassin struck.
* A thin figure like a huge black spider leapt at Devi from behind a tall console, hands outstretched, a blade glinting in one fist.

A Look At Alison Packard & 'Catching Heat' ~ Mid Week Tease ~ @Alleyfics @CarinaPress #Romance #sports #MWTease

Today we have author Alison Packard visiting. Since she's sharing an excerpt from her story, I figured it'd make a good Mid Week Tease, too. :) Welcome, Alison!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and now live in Southern Nevada. Even though I’ve been here for ten years, I’m still getting used to the scorching summers and the slot machines in every grocery and drug store.
* When I’m not working at the day job that pays the bills, keeps a roof over my head, and supports my book and junk food habits, I spend most of my free time writing. But when I take a break, I enjoy reading, watching movies, and spending time with my family and friends.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My current release, Catching Heat, is part of my Feeling the Heat series with Carina Press. Although I believe you can read the books out of order and not get confused, the actual order is: Love in the Afternoon, The Winning Season, A Christmas for Carrie (a holiday novella) and Catching Heat.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I’ve been a fan of marriage of convenience stories for a long time and as I was writing my second book, The Winning Season, I decided that the secondary characters of Angie and J.T. would be the perfect candidates for that particular trope.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Drop dead gorgeous, honest, caring and athletic.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Responsible, wary, creative and an excellent baker.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* That’s a tough one. I like all the characters in the book, even the not so nice ones. LOL. But if I have to choose one, I’d have to say Angie. For a very good reason, she has a certain mindset regarding men, especially professional athletes. Seeing her evolve over the course of the book was extremely satisfying.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* “But now that you mention it, I’ve tasted your muffin and I wouldn’t mind tasting it again.”

A look into the story

~ Blurb ~
* Life has taught Angie DeMarco that all baseball players are womanizers, and her incredible one-night stand with sexy San Francisco Blaze back-up catcher J.T. Sawyer seemed to prove it. Determined not to give in to their sizzling chemistry a second time, she’s kept her distance ever since, focusing on her accounting job with the team. But now she’s laid off…and pregnant.
* J.T. was hurt by Angie’s rejection, but with one more year with the Blaze, he has no time for love. He needs to spend the off season training hard so he can negotiate a better contract with a new team at the end of the year. But when Angie shows up on his doorstep, he‘s overwhelmed by wanting to not just do right by her but pursue a relationship with her. Hoping for a second chance, he proposes.
* Angie agrees to marry J.T. on one condition: the marriage will be purely a business arrangement. But as Angie spends time with him and his family, and J.T. neglects his training to spend time with her, what begins as a union in name only slowly grows into something more—something that looks a whole lot like love and friendship.
~ Excerpt ~
* “What are you doing here?” he asked, more harshly than he’d intended. A twinge of guilt hit him but he quickly got over it. They’d had a one night stand—end of story.
* Angie loosened her arms from over her chest to push her hair back. Something she did quite frequently. “I—I need to talk to you.” She paused, bit her lower lip and continued, “It’s important. May I come inside? I don’t want to talk about it in the hall.”
* “Why not?” He fished for his keys in the pocket of his jeans. “This should be interesting,” he muttered as he unlocked the door and hit the light switch by the door as he moved inside. “Sorry about the mess. I’m packing up to head home.” He waved a hand toward the boxes still strewn around the room. Some of them were packed and taped up, but a few were still waiting to be filled.
* “When are you leaving?”
* “Sunday morning.” He closed the door to find Angie standing with her back to him, surveying the disaster that was his living room. It was the perfect opportunity to check out her ass, showcased to perfection in the snug black pants she wore. When she turned, he forced his gaze upward to meet hers. She had the most beautiful eyes he’d ever seen—a startling blue that reminded him of the aquamarine gemstones that glittered in the necklace his mother wore on special occasions.
* “Sacramento, right?” Angie fidgeted with the strap of her purse on her shoulder, then clasped her hands together in front of her. She seemed nervous. Why?
* “Yes.” J.T. set his keys on the table next to the entry. “So why are you here?”
* “Now that I’m here, I’m not quite sure how to say it.” She paused and took a deep breath before exhaling. Her face had turned pale and there were dark shadows underneath her eyes. Whatever she had to say seemed to be weighing heavily on her. But what could it be? Was she sorry for avoiding him for weeks? Was she sorry she’d gotten engaged?
* Angie let out another breath. “I’m pregnant.”

A look at Kate Pearce & 'Soul Sucker' ( @Kate4Queen @GoddessFish #WW #SO )

Hi all! Grab a cup of tea – or whatever it is you like to drink – have a seat and give the following a read. :) Today we have Kate Pearce visiting and giving us a look into her story Soul Sucker.
* About our guest, Kate Pearce ~
* Award winning author, Kate Pearce was born into a large family of girls in England, and spent much of her childhood living very happily in a dream world. Despite being told that she really needed to 'get with the program', she graduated from the University College of Wales with an honors degree in history.
* A move to the USA finally allowed her to fulfill her dreams and sit down and write her first romance novel. Kate is published by Signet Eclipse, Kensington Aphrodisia, Ellora's Cave, Carina Press, Cleis Press and Virgin Black Lace/Cheek.

~ Blurb ~
* Supernatural Branch of Law Enforcement empath Ella Walsh sucks memories from people's heads. The job fills her mind with others' nightmares and leaves her with little time for love, but if she doesn't pair off with a mate of the government's choosing soon, the psychic blowback will destroy her powers and her sanity.
* The last time shapeshifting SBLE superstar Vadim Morosov worked with an empath, he got her killed and himself assigned to a desk. He worries about taking on another partner, but helping Ella track down an empath killer might be his only chance to save his career.
* Naturally, the government decides to throw them together.
* They resist at first, but they can't deny the simmering heat between them. As the killer's strikes grow closer to home, their bond gets tighter. And when the murderer finally traps Ella, her developing link with Vadim might be the only thing that can save her.

~ Excerpt ~
* “I think the question you should be asking yourself, Ms. Walsh, is why you feel so threatened by me.”
* She screeched to a halt again. “Threatened, by you?”
* “Yes. I think you’ve got used to getting your own way in that office, and you don’t like anyone else coming in and questioning anything you say.”
* “And I think you’re talking out of your ass.”
* “I don’t like incompetence, Ms. Walsh, and I don’t like working with empaths on the brink of a break- down. I’ll work with you because I have no choice, but I’ll be questioning everything that comes out of your mouth, double and triple checking it and, if necessary, taking my concerns to the very top to make sure I’m heard so I don’t get left holding the can when everything blows up.”
* She stared into his eyes and for the first time in her life seriously contemplated drawing her weapon and shooting a fellow professional. But he’d probably like it if she did that, and she still had no way of knowing if he could actually be killed.
* Instead, she gave him her best professional smile. “I’m glad you shared your concerns with me, Morosov. I appreciate your input and will consider each and every one of your points very carefully.”

A Look At Stacy Gail & 'Savage Angel' ( @Stacy_Gail_ @CarinaPress #SO )

Today we have author Stacy Gail visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Savage Angel which is book two in The Earth Angels series.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
Book two in The Earth Angels series
* Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.
* Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.
* As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

~ Excerpt ~
* “Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”
* “An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”
* She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”
* “Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”
* Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”
* “Something that hot is hard to forget.”

Welcome special guest: author Callie Croix (@CallieCroix)

Thanks very much to CR Moss for having me here today! Let’s see, where to start this tale of how I fell to the dark side...
I started writing erotic romance on a dare from my
other pen name’s editor, and with a little push from her friend that came with her to the Wild Rose Press’s author retreat in Texas last year. *glares at CR* (It’s all your fault!) {Yep. I remember how we took your hand, crooked our fingers and said ‘Come hither,’ enticing you over to the dark side. ;) }

From that trip, and with some suggestions from CR Moss, Callie Croix was born. As it turned out, she liked writing steamy romance far too much. In fact, I’ve now got five books contracted under that name, while my other pen name’s projects languish away in a dusty file on my hard drive. Writing smut is so much more fun! Lol.
{Isn’t it! & now you’re enjoying every minute of it, aren’t you. *snicker*}

My first release as Callie comes out today, and it’s called Deacon’s Touch. It’s set on the very ranch I visited in Texas last year, and it features an ex-Special Ops hero, since I just can’t shake my love for those guys. What can I say? They’re hot.
{& the heroes you create in your stories are hot, too!}

After her own engagement goes to hell, workaholic Jessica

Talbot dreads her friend’s bachelorette party at a dude ranch in Nowheresville, Texas. But the outlook for the weekend brightens when Deacon Dumen picks her up at the airport. The sexy cowboy awakens every dormant sexual fantasy with nothing more than a friendly smile and a handshake.
Ex-Air Force Pararescueman Deke Dumen doesn’t know what to make of the sexy yet reserved brunette who breaks through the walls he built after an injury ended his career and a divorce soured him on relationships. As a guest at his family's ranch Jessie is off limits, but the Dom in him rebels at the restriction, even as he realizes his penchant for control in the bedroom would likely scare the holy hell out of her.
When Jessie shocks Deke by asking for exactly what he's been craving, he's ready to break the rules and introduce her to his own brand of dominance. Her willing surrender rocks them both to the core. But once the weekend's over, they must decide if it was just a wild fling or the start of something more.

~ Excerpt ~

“But what?” He could barely get the words out.
Her eyes searched his. “You wouldn’t…hurt me.”
He imagined the thoughts running through that pretty head. No doubt she wondered whether he got off on tying his partners up and whipping them raw. He swallowed a laugh. “No. But I’ll push your boundaries.” It was how he was wired.
Her sigh of relief tightened something inside him. The interest and growing need in her eyes sparked something far more primal and possessive.
Without warning, the dark hunger he’d held at bay swept over him in a powerful wave, making him light-headed with the need to take her. Testing her resolve, he closed his hands around her slender wrists and held them to the bar top as he bent to taste the skin beneath her right ear. Her swift intake of breath made his cock surge.
He kissed the fragile pulse point, savoring the frantic beat of her blood beneath his lips for a moment before nipping gently. She jerked in his hold and made a little sound of arousal when he soothed the tiny sting away with his tongue. A tremor rolled through her body, goose bumps breaking out across her smooth skin. Then slowly she let her head tip back a few inches, offering her throat.
The subconscious surrender in the movement made his heart pound. He hoped the hell she understood what she was signing up for, because he was more than ready to deliver.
He could feel the tension gripping her body as he held her there, trailing feather-light kisses across her jaw to the corner of his mouth. Keeping her hands in place to introduce her to the sensation of being restrained, he hovered a breath away from her tempting lips. And waited.
A moment later, she closed her eyes and turned her head to kiss him. A slow mingling of lips and tongue, as addictive as a drug. She softened, yielded. Her timid, yet sensual response went to his head like a fifth of whiskey. Before he could take things further, he pulled back. When she opened her eyes and gazed up at him in silent question, he released her wrists and stepped away. “Let’s go,” he said in a rough voice.
She straightened slowly, watching him with equal parts arousal and indecision. Deke held out his hand and waited. Her gaze slid down to his palm, and he could feel her struggling with herself. She studied his hand, and he knew she was taking in its size, how much stronger it was than hers. What his control over her would mean during sex. If she put her hand in his, she was his for the night.
Meeting his eyes, she finally lifted her hand and settled it on his palm. Her skin was cool and soft, delicate compared to his. Something to be treasured. He closed his fingers around hers and squeezed, her need and unspoken trust in him easing something in his chest.
     Oh, sugar. You’re mine.
Without a word, he turned and guided her out of the bar.

I’m giving away a copy of Deacon’s Touch here on CR’s blog, so please leave me a comment to be entered into the contest. And CR—thanks for giving me that final shove over to the dark side! I like it over here. {& we like having you here…bwahh, ha, ha… Thanks for being here today! :* }

Happy reading,
Callie Croix
