A Look At Cait Jarrod & 'Kidnapped Hearts' ( @CaitJarrod @evernightpub #SO )

Today we have author Cait Jarrod visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Born and raised in Virginia, I spend my time between being a mom, a taxi for my children, and writing. As a child, I had an active imagination. As an adult, I loved to escape into romance books and movies. Put the two together and you have a writer of romantic suspense novels.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Kidnapped Hearts. It’s the first book in the Band of Friends Series.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* Good question. The close net friends came from my association with a group of women that get together every month or so. The suspense of the story and the romance element popped into my head. I can’t say what made me pick a FBI agent hero dealing with terrorist or why the heroine owned a restaurant. It came to me as I typed.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Hero – FBI agent, dark-hair, blue-eyes, protective

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Heroine – café owner, dark-hair, blue-eyes, sweet, honest

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* That’s a hard one. The hero, I guess. During his FBI career, he dealt with people that weren’t trustworthy, and to add to it, his girlfriend worked for the one man that wouldn’t him dead which ended in her own death, he craves normalcy, wants, and needs a place to call home.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* “Nah, I’ll call you Mrs. Gibson,” he whispered in her ear.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Small town girl and owner of The Memory Café, Pamela Young, regales in her life with her friends, aptly named the Band of Friends until her life is turned upside down with stolen bearer bonds mysteriously coming into her possession.
* After a five-year disappearing act, Jake Gibson returns home retired from the FBI, and ready to make a mends with his estranged family. A freelance case falls into his lap, involving the woman he’d resisted years ago. He will do anything to protect Pamela, even put his life in jeopardy along with his heart.

~ Excerpt ~
* A scream shot Jake out of the bathroom. He’d been spying on Pamela in a bathing suit that barely covered her luscious breasts ever since she snuck out of the house until nature called him away. In his underwear, he dashed through the sliding doors in his bedroom and spotted a silhouette walking out of the water. Looking through the binoculars, he released a breath. Pamela was okay.
* There was something sensual about surveilling her through binoculars. Not quite the upstanding thing to do. Then again, it was his job to watch over her. Outside of tying her to a bed, which wasn’t a terrible idea, he didn’t have any other choice.
* Pamela’s next movement shocked him. She unfastened the top of her bathing suit. The discarded top landed on the sandy beach.
* Jake sucked in a breath and leaned forward against the railing, supporting his weak knees. Pamela pulled the strings on each side of her too tight bikini bottoms. It slipped away.
* Hard as a rock, he observed a butt naked Pamela dash into the water. Jake swallowed as her firm mounds disappeared. The sight hypnotized him until a strange prickling at the base of his neck occurred, his hair standing on end. He surveyed the stretch of beach. Nothing. He focused back on Pamela.
* “Damn it.” The realization smacked him in the head like a tree branch. He had been so engrossed keeping an eye on her that he forgot agents roamed the area.
* After lobbing his binoculars in a nearby chaise, he descended the deck stairs, bounded down the boardwalk, and scrambled through the sand. “Pamela!” Crap, he should have yelled Betty. The concern dissipated as his mouth watered and his dick twitched. Pamela faced him. Her lush globes swayed, beckoning him. His eyes drifted south as her waist broke the water’s surface. The moon illuminated the dark hair of her mound.
* He shoved his lust aside as anger rose. “Anyone could see you.” He grabbed her beach towel from the ground. Within seconds, he stood in front of her, blocking her luscious body from anyone who roamed in the shadows. The problem was he had a direct visual of her feminine form. Like a divining rod looking for water, his male anatomy pointed directly at what it wanted.
* He groaned and pressed his hand against the unthinking part of him. The ache made him cranky. “What the hell are you doing?” He moved his hand and touched her arms; her naked breasts touched his bare chest. They both stilled. He wasn’t this strong. No man was. “God, Pamela,” he said on a sigh.
* The hunger in her eyes drove him crazy. He wanted his lips on hers, his hands on her firm breasts.
* She shifted, and her nipples stroked his skin.
* “For the love of God,” he groaned. His voice sounded strained, even to him.
* “Should I remain patient?”
* His eyes lifted from her breasts that begged to be touched, landing on the mischievous gleam in her eye. “No. Yes. Damn it.” He raked his hand through his hair and sucked in a mouthful of fortified air. “I can’t … but yes, we both need to be patient.”
* He grasped her shoulders, turning her until her back faced him. “Raise your arms.” He wrapped the towel around her, commanding his hands not to stray from her shoulders. Despite his efforts not to touch her, he kissed the back of her neck.
* She eased away and faced him, her lips turning up at the corners. “Remember, be patient.” She whisked by him.
* His body pulsed with need. Wiping his hand down his face, he followed her out of the bay.
* * * *
* Holding her towel firmly, Pamela trotted up the boardwalk toward the house. Jake’s footsteps sounded behind her. She wanted to reach her bedroom before he could say another word. What had she been thinking to disrobe the way she had? The discarded bathing suit lying on the beach flashed in her mind. Tomorrow, she’d unearth it. Hopefully, the tide wouldn’t sweep it into the water. If it did, she’d leave some money in the drawer with a note of apology.
* She edged around the group of flowering bushes hiding the outdoor shower and washed her feet, then turned to ascend the steps. A hand on her waist stopped her. Jake had caught up with her. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
* The hand dropped, and the voice that responded made her skin crawl. “It’s nice to see you, Pamela.”

Hump Day H00k #HDH for Feb. 27th

Hi all! Another week's come and gone, and we're back to Hump Day Hook where authors share snippets from their stories. :)
Over the past couple of weeks I'd been sharing some of the conflict between Cassie and Dakota. This week I'm taking you back to the beginning where Cassie is thinking about Dak and about to meet him. The following snippet comes from Wild West Weekend book 1 of the Double D Ranch Tales series. Enjoy!

* Enjoying the mountain desert scenery of the ranch, she trailed her hand beneath the cloth around her neck, found the delicate silver chain her best friend, Bristol, had given her one Christmas and pulled it out of her shirt. She fingered the chain down to a ring looped on it and touched the piece of jewelry. A soft smile played at her lips. The boy who had lived on the ranch and given her the ring was probably married with children by now. It’d be too bad. From what she remembered, Dakota was a good looking guy. The one who got away.

Please don't forget to stop by and read the other authors participating in this week's HDH ~ http://humpdayhook.blogspot.co.uk

A Look At Donna Gallagher & 'Laura’s Light' ( @donnag63 @TotalEBound #SO )

Today we have author Donna Gallagher visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Sydney-born Donna Gallagher decided at an early age that life needed be tackled head on. Leaving home at 15 she supported herself through her teen years. In her twenties she married a professional sportsman, her love of sport -- especially rugby league -- probably overriding her good sense.
* The seven-year marriage was an adventure. There were the emotional ups and downs of having a husband with a public profile in a sometimes glamorous but always high-pressure field. There were always interesting characters to meet and observe and even the opportunity to live for a time in the UK.
* Eventually Donna returned home a single woman, but she never lost her passion for watching sport, as well as the people in and around it.
* Now happily re-married and with three sons Donna loves coffee mornings with her female friends, sorting through problems from the personal to the international. But she's on even footing with the keenest man when it comes to watching and talking rugby league.
* Donna considers herself something of a black sheep in a family of high achievers. Her brother has a doctorate in mathematics and her sister is a well-known sports journalist.
* An avid reader, especially of romance, Donna finally found she couldn't stop the characters residing in her imagination from spilling onto paper. Naturally rugby league is the backdrop to her League of Love Series, published through UK publisher Total-E-Bound, spicy tales of hunky heroes and spunky heroines overcoming adversity to eventually find true love.

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Forty-two- year- old single mother Laura Harris devoted more than half her life to raising her son. She remembered the concept of having sex but it had been aeons since she’s actually been a participant - especially with a real flesh-and-blood partner. But it’s time to reclaim her life. Her son is a man now. And the rising star of the Jets rugby league team. Their future is brighter than ever and, for the first time, financially secure. But Laura is starting to think agreeing to have dinner with Trevor Hughes could be biting off more than she can chew. Not that she can’t see herself taking a nice big chunk from the absolutely gorgeous thirty-four-year-old sports commentator’s rump, he’s one prime piece of masculinity! She just isn’t sure how or when the whole sex thing will become an issue. She can’t even get past the what-to-wear step. Let alone the when-to-take-it-off stage…
* Trevor Hughes usually avoids the woman with substance - he has enough of his own demons to deal without trying to care for anyone else. But there’s something about the upbeat, sexy, one-woman-dynamo Laura Harris. The woman is pure sunshine and happiness. And that’s surprising when you look at what life has handed her. Nothing seemed to dampen Laura’s spirits and she quickly becomes someone Trevor needs in his life…Until misunderstandings come between them. Can Trevor put things right?

~ Excerpt (Explicit) ~
* “Decisions, decisions,” he moaned.
* “Mmm… Did you say something?” Laura hummed in his ear.
* “Just deciding what I want to do to you first—whether to get naked with you, or just eat your pussy first. I can’t make up my mind. It all seems so good.”
* “Get naked, Trevor. Let me feel the warmth of your skin against mine.”
* “Are you cold, honey? I didn’t even think…”
* “No, not cold—burning, melting for you. Definitely not cold, but I still want to feel your skin against mine. Flesh to flesh, no barrier between us.”
* Trevor decided that Laura was right—no barriers between them sounded good—but he had to move her so he could achieve that goal. As he gently lifted her smaller frame from his lap, ready to place her next to him on the couch Laura began to struggle. Worried that he was hurting her, Trevor let her go, let her move herself, only to discover that she had a plan of her own. Laura slid between his thighs kneeling on the carpet. The grin she gave him sent lightning bolts of pleasure through his system. Trevor remembered that look—that wicked, wonderful look. And so did his cock.
* “Here, let me help you undress. I promise I’ll be extra careful!” Laura giggled as she teased Trevor, purposely brushing her hand over the hardness in the front of his pants, then cupping him gently. “Hmmm, you feel kinda worked up again. Isn’t that how you described it last time? When you cautioned me on the zipper thing.”
* “Oh, hon, I’m past worked up—I’m about to explode.” Trevor gritted out.
* “Maybe I can do something to help, then,” Laura purred.
* She leant forward so as to reach the opening of his pants. With one hand, she carefully lowered the zipper completely—it had already been at half mast from when he had unbuttoned earlier to give himself more room, but now he was completely open. Laura grasped the waistband of Trevor’s pants.
* “Lift.”
* As he did, she pulled them down past his hips, repeating the motion with his boxers. Once freed, Trevor’s shaft stood tall, rigid. As if it were beckoning her, she could not refuse its call. She ran her tongue around the circumference of his erect penis, the mushroom-like head, the joining of his skin. She laved and licked, explored every bulbous vein, every satiny bit of skin that covered his impressive form. Laura loved the taste of him, the slightly salty, musky maleness. She lapped at the pre-cum that formed at the eye before swallowing his erection down into her throat, loving the moans and grunts Trevor was making.
* When he took hold of the sides of her head and drew her away, she didn’t fight him. It was time he buried that hard cock—that part of him that differentiated his maleness from her femininity—inside her dripping wet and throbbing pussy, where it belonged. “I need you, Laura, need to bury myself in you, want to come inside you.”
* “I need that too, Trevor.”
* Laura lay back on the carpet and spread her legs for him in an invitation for him to take her. She watched as he extracted a condom from the wallet he took from his now discarded pants’ pocket. He rolled the latex on and her mouth watered. Her folds wept with cream as the moment drew close—the moment she’d thought she would never feel again, that fullness she had craved for weeks and had been unable to attain at her own hands.

A Look At Doris O'Connor & 'Sol and the Magic Fingers' ( @mamaD8 @evernightpub #MM #SO )

Today we have author Doris O'Connor visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I'm a mum of nine and happily married to my very own alpha hero for the last 23 years. A writer of all things naughty, I like to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Sol And The Magic Fingers is my first contribution to Evernight Publishing's excellent Romance On The Go Line, and I wrote this story in one session. Yes, really… I just couldn't stop writing!

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I was part of several Christmas Bloghops last year, and one of my questions to readers was, "Tell me what you wish for." A reader replied saying she would love to have a magical e-reader, and immediately my muse went, "Oohh, now, I can work with that."
* I was busy with other things, but the story kinda lingered in the background until New Year's Eve when I was standing at my sink, doing the washing up, and suddenly Sol popped into my head, dictating the entire first chapter.
* When that happens, resistance is futile, so despite it being New Year's Eve, and having to deal with a poorly toddler to boot, the entire story was written in between clearing up puddles of toddler sick, toasting in the New Year, and breaking up teenage squabbles. (I'm good at multi-tasking…)
* Four am the next morning saw me type the end under the first draft, and it was subbed by the end of that week. Thankfully Evernight liked the story as much as I did. In fact, it's an Editors Pick!
* *big cheesy grin*

Describe the hero in five words.
* Ancient, Magical, Sexy, Dominant, Repentant

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Frustrated, Vulnerable, Hurt, Strong, Passionate

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* It has to be Sol. He was such a strong voice when I was writing this story, and despite it being told entirely in the heroine's POV, you get a very clear sense of who Sol is. His conflict is quite unique, and he's had a lot of time to ponder over past mistakes. You've got to love a man, not only determined to pleasure his heroine, but one who's not afraid to show his vulnerable side.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* "You are so beautiful, all soft and round as a woman ought to be."

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Breaking your e-reader at the end of a long and trying day is enough to send any woman over the edge. Karen's one treat are her naughty stories. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
* Saucy stories in the old library? It doesn't seem likely, but when Karen is sent home with an odd looking reading device magic happens at the touch of her fingers. Is the drop dead gorgeous man she encounters real or just a flight of her imagination?
* Caught in a weekend of sexual delight, will she lose her heart, as well as her inhibitions? And is there any future for the two of them?

~ Excerpt ~
* She jumped up, rinsed off her plate in the sink, and grabbing a fresh cup of coffee on the way, headed for the sanctuary of her bedroom. Here she liked to immerse herself in her stories, to forget about her worries, and let herself be transported into another world of drop dead gorgeous men, who actually knew how to pleasure a woman, and didn't leave their dirty socks on your bedroom floor. She giggled at the thought and ran her hands over the e-reader. Just like before it seemed to come to life in her hands. It shimmered and grew, and as if by magic the story she'd been reading appeared on the screen. Well, Mr. Jones had said it was in there. She found her place and started reading.
* Two hours later she dropped the reader out of her clammy hands and drew a ragged breath into her lungs. Wow, that had been an intense read. The story was hot, but somehow, this time round it had felt as though she had been the heroine in the book, so engrossed had she been in the scenes unfolding in her mind. Beads of perspiration covered her body, and her breasts felt heavy and so sensitive that the slightest touch of her blouse against her hard nipples sent darts of stinging awareness between her thighs. Her underwear was soaked through with the evidence of her arousal, and a mere brush of her fingers over the engorged nub at the top of her slit was all it took for her to tumble into a breathtaking orgasm.
* When she had her breathing back under control, she smiled, as her fingertips touched the reader. It brightened and vibrated slightly, and Karen couldn't stop herself from murmuring her wish.
* "If only you could magic me a real life man like the ones in your stories." The reader grew hot, and Karen yelped as it burned her fingertips. She blew on them and frowned, but the reader was once again back to normal. Still that odd looking design, but not glowing, vibrating, or otherwise, and—she touched it gingerly—not hot. Karen shook her head at her fanciful imaginings and headed for the shower.
* That's what she needed, a nice long, hot shower to chase away the cobwebs and a chance to try out her new waterproof dildo. She sniggered as she turned on the shower and eyed the huge phallus shaped object. She would see…
* She switched on the shower and stepped under the heavy stream. The power shower had been the major selling point when Karen had bought her apartment. Where other women soaked in the bath, she lingered in the shower. Nothing like letting the jets of hot water soothe cramping muscles and drain the stresses of the day down the swirling plughole. She closed her eyes and let her mind wander. She wasn't really standing in the shower—no she was on a tropical island under a cascading waterfall, waiting for her lover to appear. She smiled and cupped her breasts, imagining it was another set of hands massaging the heavy globes. She leaned back against the tiles to steady herself, only in her imagination it was her lover's hard muscled chest. Two strong arms circled her, and her heart did a silly little flop, as teeth grazed her ear.
* "I've got you. Just let yourself feel." The deeply seductive, slightly accented voice dripped over her senses, like hot, molten chocolate, and the unmistakable edge of command caused a delicious flutter of excitement deep inside her core. He trailed his large, slightly calloused hands along her arms and pulled them up high above her head. Something wrapped around her wrists and another tug brought her up on her tiptoes. She swayed until his hard arm ‘round her waist grounded her against him. A hair-roughened thigh slipped between her legs, creating delicious friction against her core, and a rush of her juices coated her nether lips.
* "Who are you?" She had to ask, even if it meant spoiling the magic, for the hard cock pressing into her ass cheeks left her in no doubt that she was not on her own. Either she was fast asleep, having the most erotic dream yet, or she had indeed been joined in the shower by an unknown man, whose clean and slightly spicy musk permeated her consciousness, and pitched her arousal higher still. Like the strongest aphrodisiac, his scent surrounded her, strange and familiar all at once, and the frisson of fear the absurdity of the situation brought with it, just increased the intensity of her feelings.
* "I'm Sol, and I'm here to make your dreams come true. Will you let me?"

A Look At Kacey Mark & 'A Muse Gone Rogue' ( @Kacey_Mark @evernightpub #SO )

Today we have author Kacy Mark visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Hello there. So... I'm Kacey *nods* a voracious reader and paranormal romance author. I'm working my way up the ladder to New York publishing one rung at a time. Boy, that sounds optimistic, doesn't it? I'm all about the magic of visual stimulus, tactile writing, and use of all five senses. I love eccentric characters and unpredictable plot turns. I enjoy a good book that pulls me into its world and holds me captive until the very last page. But then again, who doesn’t love that? I'm often caught laughing at a book in the middle of a crowded room, I love it when people wonder what I’m up to.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* My first published book is A MUSE GONE ROGUE. It’s a story about ravenous muses and the women who lust after them. It is part of my DARK MUSE series, but the series only extends into two books. It’s always fun to read ROGUE first then experience COMMANDO because the villain in the first book becomes the hero in the second. Although the stories stand-alone pretty well, there are a lot more ‘ah-ha’ moments when read in order.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* I have always been fascinated with greek mythology. There are so many interesting stories and amazing characters that can be expanded upon.

Describe the hero (or alpha male if M/M or alpha heroine if F/F) in five words.
* Extra hunky, extra irritated immortal

Describe the heroine (beta if F/F or beta hero if M/M) in five words.
* A virtual shut-in turned nanny

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* My favorite character is actually, Tobin, the villain. Because it’s so fun to watch his character evolve from this book to the next. He’s the man that every woman loves to hate.

A look into the story

~ Blurb ~
* When a demonic attack leaves one child without a mother, Marie Durrant throws out her predictable lifestyle to become the little girl's nanny.
* It’s a big enough step for the virtual shut in, but even more difficult when Marie becomes inexplicably attracted to the mysterious widowed father, who happens to be the most powerful muse west of Mt. Olympus.
* Quenton Blake is an extra hunky, extra irritated immortal, cursed to seek out those desperate for inspiration and feed on their souls.There wasn’t anything wrong with saving Marie’s soul for dessert, but his sweet tooth has a way of overriding his good judgement.

~ Excerpt ~
* The dim glow from the study bounced off the mirrors and the stainless steel stripper pole in the corner. Just enough light to navigate the furniture without bumping into anything. The air grew thick and humid inside with the spicy tang of sex and cheap perfume.
* Like one giant trophy case, it boasted countless odd shaped, metallic objects littering the floor and table tops, some of them still in their boxes. Sex toys, the thought occurred to her, as her eye caught a thin metal chain glinting in the mirror’s reflection.
* She wrapped her arms around herself, not willing to touch what she couldn’t readily identify. Or anything she could, for that matter.
* The plum silk bedding looked rumpled and pulled free on one side. It cascaded over the foot of the bed, partially melting over a large black chest. She knelt down, and after brushing the sheets away, tried to lift the lid.
* Locked.
* If Tobin was bold enough to store his toys in the open, she wasn’t sure she wanted to know what he hid under lock and key. She scanned the rest of the room but her surroundings were too dark to identify with much clarity. Maybe she could get back in here during the daylight and find a key to the chest.
* She got to her feet and tried to pick her way out of the room. When she stepped on a ten-inch cylindrical object, it rolled. Her feet went out from under her, and her butt hit the floor with a bone-jarring thud.
* The silver object rolled across the hardwood floor emitting a low buzzing noise until it tinged against the metal stripper pole at the far end of the room.
* The guy’s got a flair for matching his accessories I’ll give him that much. She scrambled after the vibrator, put both hands around the beveled shaft, and fumbled for the switch to shut it off.
* Ew.Ew. Ew!
* She gritted her teeth, running her hands along the device until she found what appeared to be the switch. Hopefully it wasn’t the “go faster” button.
* She flipped it and the buzzing died off, then she flung it toward the bed and scrubbed her palms over her jeans.
* She wanted to race back to her room but chickening out wasn’t an option. With the commotion, she’d get caught. And if she was already screwed, she wasn’t going to face Quenton’s wrath for nothing. She made a hasty pass into the second room where she found identical furniture and a neatly made bed. It was missing the chest and mirrors, making it seem smaller without all the reflections, more casual, and Quenton’s familiar scent lingered in the air around her. Heat threaded through her veins at the thought of being in his room, knowing at any moment he could return to find her. Her impish thoughts cheered her on. Fueled by flames of excitement, they dance around in her mind as if coaxing him to materialize out of thin air.
* She ran her shaking fingertips along the surface of his nightstand until she came in contact with the worn edge of a leather-bound book.
* Good enough for now, she thought and tucked it under her arm.
* Nearly home free.
* She spun to the door but her breath caught in a gasp. Quenton’s massive silhouette slipped in front of her, and Marie braced herself against the doorjamb to keep from running into him.

A Look At Silvia Stancil & 'Double Vision' ( @evernightpub #SO )

Today we have author Silvia Stancil visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Silvia Stancil lives in beautiful South Carolina with her husband, young son, and all the characters in her head. She holds a degree in English and spends her free time writing, running by the ocean, and wearing too much eye makeup. Silvia writes erotica, mainstream romance, horror and YA under multiple pen names.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* The book is Double Vision. It is the first in my Club Heat series. Its sequel, Triple Threat, does not have a release date yet.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* Like most of my work, I just sat down and started writing. The heroine always captures her voice in the first few paragraphs and the plot falls right into place thereafter.

Describe the hero in five words.
* My hero, Jax: Smart, classy, old-fashioned, charming, loyal.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* My heroine, Kit: Independent, indecisive, driven, caring, confused.

If ménage/multiple partners, then pick a third hero or heroine to describe in five words.
Knox: Mysterious, naughty, sneaky, sexy, kinky

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Definitely my heroine, Kit. I really relate to her constant change of heart and I hope others will as well. I also admire her independent streak and ability to care for herself through the utmost turmoil in her life.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* That would have to be when Kit’s “boyfriend” shows up to see her at work. He’s acting completely out of character. Usually a shy, aristocratic type, he nails her with:
* “Yeah. I’m turning over a new leaf. For you, Kit. So, how about it? Bangy-bangy in the back room or what?”

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
* Independent bartender Kit Blank has a problem lately, and it comes in the form of Jax Heart, the sexiest and most sophisticated vampire in the entire city. While she’s more than happy to hit the sheets, chat it up, and spend all her free time with Jax, the thought of actually committing to him leaves a bad taste in her mouth. Worse yet, as much as she digs Jax, he’s been completely turning her off lately by pushing her toward a real commitment…the kind that comes with fangs. Kit is torn. Does she really love Jax, or is she truly only ready for a boy toy?
* But it appears she may have underestimated Jax, who shows up at Club Heat to surprise her in a whole new ensemble…leather jacket, hand ties and all. The only problem is, when Kit’s ready for round two, Jax doesn’t actually remember any of it. Is Jax lying? Has Kit gone crazy? Or are they both suffering from a mysterious case of double vision?

~ Excerpt ~
* “Is that a vampire down here?” one of the wolf shifters asked. He cocked his brow and emitted a little growl. “Don’t they know Thursday night is...”
* “Yeah, yeah,” Kit said with a sigh. “Thursday night is Shifter Night, but he’s a friend of mine, okay? Oh, look. There’s Janika.”
* The young blonde girl at the door was Kit’s close friend as well as co-worker. She had been working at Club Heat for two years, almost as long as Kit had. Janika certainly knew the ropes well enough to take over the bar for a while, even if Kit was technically the supervisor. More than likely, she wouldn’t have an issue with Kit taking some time off for some hanky-panky in the utility room with Jax. Janika was a fun sort, if not a little bitchy.
* “Janika!” Kit greeted her co-worker with a smile. “A pleasure to see you. You mind taking over for a little bit wile I spend some time with a friend of mine?”
* Janika turned up her nose. Her former sorority girl facade must have been a hard thing to kick, after all. But, she was cool enough.
* Kit gave her friend a goofy smile as she waited for an answer.
* “Jax?” Janika asked. “You’ve got to be kidding me. What’s a vamp doing down here on...”
* “Yeah, on Shifter Thursdays,” Kit said. She put her hands up and shrugged. “He came to see me. Can you hold the bar down for awhile or what?”
* “Yeah, sure.” Janika pulled a washrag from her apron to wipe down the bar. “Missed a spot, Kit.”
* Kit laughed and flipped her co-worker off as she hopped over the bar. She practically dragged Jax off his barstool. There was something different about him tonight, something animalistic that just begged to be unleashed. He was almost like a shifter, seemingly fitting for Shifter Thursday.
* “Back here, back here.” Kit pulled him to the area behind the bar and scrambled to unlock the door to the utility room. “I can’t believe you’re up for this. This is so unlike you.”
* “Yeah, well.” Jax shoved her into the closet and slammed the door behind him. “I’m up for all kinds of new things, lately,” he told her. Jax reached up to pull the string that turned the light on. “Are you, baby?”
* “Y-yeah.”
* Jax was certainly being weird, but it would do. Already, her skirt had slid around her ankles. His hands weren’t shy as he examined her and fondled two fingers into her pussy. Kit had already gotten wet from the thought of Jax lightening up. She missed their kinky no-strings attached sex.
* “There we are,” he growled.
* She realized the tip of his pinky finger had penetrated just a little bit into her asshole. Kit shuddered, going to protest. She had never done such a thing. He slapped her on the ass, hard. Kit’s felt her eyes widen in both shock and pleasure.
* “Don’t talk,” he commanded. Jax grabbed her wrists. He tied a black, silk scarf around them, binding her hands together.
* “Oh, Jax...”
* Another slap on the ass, hard enough to make her squeal.
* “I thought I told you not to talk. Now, you may answer my questions if I address you. Yes, sir?”
* “Y-yeah.”
* Slap. That one had been so hard it reverberated into her legs. Kit bit her lip. This was too hot. This wasn’t Jax. But it was. “Yes sir,” she purred.
* “Excellent,” he said. “Do you know what I have in my hands, Kit? What I’m about to put somewhere we’ve never played before?”
* “No, sir.”
* “Good.”
* Kit held back a squeal as the sensation of tiny beads slid inside her ass. Jax slid his hand down neatly between her parted lips. He easily used her soaking wet pussy to lube up her asshole. The little beads slid in and out fast. They twisted in different directions and caused sensations inside Kit that she hadn’t known possible.
* “Oh, shit,” she muttered. Another slap rang on her bare ass, causing her to let out a little squeak. The sound bought her another slap.
* “There we go,” he said. Jax gently pulled back the beads. He left just a few of them inside of her and brought it from one side to another with a firm pressure. He pulled her lips apart again. The next thing she knew, he was inside her. The beads jiggled back and forth as he grunted his way into her insides. The vampire jammed up so far inside of her that it hurt for a minute.
* “What has gotten into you?” she gasped. Kit tried to grab at the wall for support before she remembered she was tied up.
* “What you said to me last night got into me,” he said in a low voice. He slapped her good on the thigh, hard enough to make a red mark. “That’s for talking. You said I was emo, Kit. Emo kid. I’m here to show you I’m not.”

A Look At Stacy Gail & 'Savage Angel' ( @Stacy_Gail_ @CarinaPress #SO )

Today we have author Stacy Gail visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* Savage Angel which is book two in The Earth Angels series.

A look into the story

Book two in The Earth Angels series
* Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.
* Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.
* As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

~ Excerpt ~
* “Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”
* “An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”
* She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”
* “Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”
* Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”
* “Something that hot is hard to forget.”

Hump Day H00k #HDH for Feb. 20th

Hi all! Another week's come and gone, and we're back to Hump Day Hook where authors share snippets from their stories. :)
Over the past couple of weeks I'd been giving you a peek into a work in progress tentatively titled Wild West Island Getaway and sharing some of the conflict between Cassie and Dakota. This week I'm taking you back to the beginning where Cassie and Dak rekindle an old relationship, except this time it's a bit tumultuous. Even though they have feelings for each other they keep butting heads. The following snippet comes from Wild West Weekend book 1 of the Double D Ranch Tales series. Yes, I know this is more than a paragraph, but I wanted to give a good representation of the tension between the characters. Enjoy!

* “Kent has a job to do. He can’t stick around here.”
* “Well then, either find someone else or deal with the fact that I’ll be alone for a bit.”
* “Why are you being so obstinate?” He blinked. The heat in his eyes left. He glared at her with a narrow-eyed gaze.
* “Why are you being so paternal?” She reciprocated with a scowl of her own.
* With another scathing glare at her, he yanked open the door. “Maybe because now that you’re in my life again, I want to keep you here.” He stormed out, slamming the door closed behind him.

A Look At Cassandra Dean & 'Fool's Gold' ( @authorCassDean @decadentpub #SO )

Today we have author Cassandra Dean visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* Thank you for having me on your blog, CR! Hi peeps, I’m Cassandra Dean and I mostly write historical romances. I seem to jump around a bit, with stories set in Ancient Rome, Early Victorian England, Old American West and even a few contemporaries. To top it off, I have plans to write a Steampunk series as well.
* I’m from Adelaide, South Australia, and I’m gearing up for the Festival and the Fringe. Such a wonderful time of year, when thousands of people pour into Adelaide to celebrate arts and culture and super fun times…Can’t wait!
* Here's my bio: Cassandra grew up daydreaming, inventing fantastical worlds and marvelous adventures. Once she learned to read (First phrase – To the Beach. True story), she was never without a book, reading of other people’s fantastical worlds and marvelous adventures.
* Fairy tales, Famous Fives, fantasies and fancies; horror stories, gumshoe detectives, science fiction; Cassandra read it all. Then she discovered Romance and a true passion was born.
* So, once upon a time, after making a slight detour into the world of finance, Cassandra tried her hand at writing. After a brief foray into horror, she couldn’t discount her true passion. She started to write Romance and fell head over heels. The love affair exists to this very day.

What book are you going to tell us about today? Is it part of a series? If so, what's the order the books should be read in?
* FOOL’S GOLD is second in The Diamond Series and part of Decadent Publishing’s Western Escape. All Western Escape books are set in the fictional town of Freewill, Wyoming, and I was lucky enough to be able to do a sub-series set in the Old West.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* After I’d written ROUGH DIAMOND, book 1 of The Diamond Series, I was mighty intrigued by Alice’s friend, Pearl, and her unwarranted antagonism towards Alice’s coal prospector, Garrett. I was thinking the vaguest of thoughts towards writing a story for them when my editor on ROUGH DIAMOND asked if we would see Pearl’s story. I said of course! Then, to throw a bit of a spanner into the works, my editor asked me to make Pearl and Ethan Garrett’s story a Christmas tale. The brain, she got to thinking and I came up with FOOL’S GOLD!

Describe the hero in five words.
* Quiet, polite, hiding his background

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Flirty, saucy, annoyed by Garrett

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* Hmm. I love Pearl and Ethan equally, and they’re the only two characters in the book! Others are mentioned, notably Alice and Rupert, the heroine and hero from ROUGH DIAMOND, but the ‘screen time’ is solely reserved for Pearl and Ethan.
* So, I guess I’m going to go with they are both my favourite characters! I love that they think they despise each other, I love their banter, and I love that when they give in to their attraction, they open to each other as they haven’t with anyone else.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* My favourite line is the below, which is more of a paragraph but potayto, potahto ;p
~~ Why should she be feeling a tug at her heart just because Garrett had nowhere to go?
~~ Squaring her shoulders, Pearl lifted a brow and pretended her heart never twinged. “If it will get you to depart this here premises the quicker, why don’t you tell me all your troubles and we’ll see if we can’t fix one or two of them?”

A look into the story
~ Blurb ~
Christmas in Freewill
* Christmas Eve, the Diamond Saloon is empty of its people, and Pearl la Monte has a hankering to retire early. A pounding at the Diamond’s door rids her of such a fool notion. Her irritation rises when she sees the prissy, polite-like Garrett standing outside.
* Ethan Garrett has a powerful need to gain succor. When the saloon’s voluptuous redheaded singer scowls at him from the threshold of the Diamond, he doesn’t stop to think on how his ire at her has disappeared. Or how he just wants to spend some time in her company.
* When a blizzard storms in, trapping them, will they spend their time arguing or find their irritation for each other disguises something more?

~ Excerpt ~
* Turning on her heel, Pearl marched off toward the stairs.
* A weird kind of panic jolted through Ethan, one he’d never felt before in all his days. It was…he didn’t…. She couldn’t leave him. “Where are you going?”
* She whirled to face him, her irritation plain. “I was seeking my bed before your arrival, and now I’m seeking it again. Help yourself to whiskey this one time. I got better things to do.”
* Shoving to his feet, he strode to her. “Don’t just walk away when we’re discussing things.”
* “We ain’t discussing nothing. You’ll be down here, waiting out the blizzard. I’ll be in my bed, doing what I was gonna before you arrived. That’s the end of it.”
* Taking a step, she made to leave him. Again.
* He grabbed her arm. “Don’t leave me.”
* “Don’t tell me what to do.” Glaring at him, she stood before the bar, her magnificent hair slipping from its pins, her breasts rising and falling.
* Abruptly, his mouth went dry. Clearing his throat some, he said, “You’re supposed to offer succor to those in need.”
* “We’re closed, remember?” Paint-less lips pressed tight together, she glared up at him.
* They were so close he could see the faint marks of freckles on her skin.
* Pearl La Monte had freckles.
* A kind of haze came over him, tightening his skin and bringing with it something all-fired powerful and completely unstoppable. All the years he’d known her crashed through him, all the times she’d flirted with him and meant something else, all the times he’d seen her perform on stage and wished he could have held such fire.
* Grabbing her upper arms, he hauled her against him and, ignoring her shocked gasp, he covered her mouth with his.
