A Look At Tim Smith & 'Warning Shot' ( #romanticthriller #adventure )

Today we have author Tim Smith visiting. Welcome!

What would you like to tell readers about yourself?
* I’m an award-winning bestselling author whose books range from romantic mystery/thrillers to contemporary erotic romance. I’m also a freelance photographer. When I’m not indulging in those two passions I can often be found in the Florida Keys, doing research in between parasailing and seeking out the perfect Mojito.

What book are you going to tell us about today?
* My newest release is the romantic thriller Warning Shot, featuring my two most popular characters, Nick Seven and Felicia Hagens. They’re both a couple of former CIA spooks living in Key Largo, Florida, trying to stay out of the intrigue and adventure that was a part of their former lives, but always getting dragged into something.
* Warning Shot is the third in this series, following the best selling books Memories Die Last and Never Look Back. The books do not need to be read in order, because each one recaps the character’s backgrounds while giving a few new hints into their personalities.
* I think this is one of the most action-packed, romantic thrillers I’ve written, with a topical theme, plenty of fast-paced adventure, humor, realistic atmosphere and some interesting characters. There’s also enough heat between Nick and Felicia to make Key West in July feel like Alaska.

How'd you/your muse come up with this story?
* The Nick and Felicia spy adventures typically draw from current events. I had wanted to do a story about these characters that began when they were both still with the CIA then flash forward to the present. Recent revelations about the secret snooping used by the Feds found their way into the plot, when I realized how easy it is to spy on people without their knowledge. It gives a real feeling of paranoia, which I incorporated into the characters. Nick has always come across as very confident and self-assured, but things happen that make him look over his shoulder and question everyone’s motives.
* One of the hallmarks of each installment is the internal fight Nick Seven wages when something from his past always pops up to bite him on the ass when he least expects it. He just wants to run his bar and restaurant in the Keys with Felicia and enjoy the sunsets. In this installment he ends up helping a friend from his spy days who may have gotten involved in a political assassination, and Nick feels obliged to stop him before it’s too late.

Describe the hero in five words.
* Rugged, handsome, romantic, funny and cool.

Describe the heroine in five words.
* Tough, beautiful, sex on two feet.

Who's your favorite character in the book & why?
* They’re all fun, but the one I found the most challenging was Nick’s former mentor. This character has gone to great lengths to make everyone think he’s turned into an eccentric paranoid recluse to cover up what he’s really doing. I had to show how erratic his behavior is and some of the things this character does provided the humor.
* The biggest hurdle I had to jump was with the two leads. Since each book in this series is a stand-alone title, it was challenging to recap their backgrounds for new readers who hadn’t read the first two, while not turning off followers who already know where these two people came from.

What's your favorite line in the story?
* “You know what they say about old soldiers, Nicholas – they want to die with their boots on. It gives them a sense of dignity and purpose, like their lives were worthwhile.”

A look into the story

~ Blurb ~
* Nick Seven and Felicia Hagens left the CIA for the laidback ease of the Florida Keys, leaving behind a life of intrigue. When Nick’s former mentor becomes part of a conspiracy with international repercussions, Nick breaks his self-imposed exile to stop him. The case throws Nick and Felicia into a juggernaut of espionage, government cover-ups and political assassinations. Will they succeed in stopping the plan in time? Can their relationship survive another unwanted adventure?

~ Excerpt ~
* Nick brought Felicia’s hand to his mouth then kissed it. “This is one of the reasons I’m glad I have you around. You always keep me focused.”
* “Is that the only reason you’re glad I’m around?”
* “No, but it’s a long list.”
* She sat in his lap and kissed him. “I’ve got nothin’ but time, Tough Guy.”
* He caressed her cheek. “You’re resourceful, self-confident and independent.”
* “You just described a Boy Scout. Can’t you do better than that?”
* “You’re incredibly hot, passionate about everything and waking up next to you makes all my teenaged fantasies come true.” He paused. “Plus you make a mean stir-fried shrimp.”
* Felicia laughed. “Is that the best you’ve got? You were always better at foreplay.”
* Nick kissed her. “You make me feel alive and I can’t wait to start every day all over again with you.”
* She cupped his cheek and peered into his eyes. “That’s what I was gonna say. It’s kinda hard to explain but when I first saw you, all that time ago in London, it was like a jolt of electricity went through me. When you quit the Agency and I went back to Barbados, I felt this big empty inside, like somethin’ vital had been taken away.”
* He traced her jaw with his fingers. “Same thing I felt.”

Welcome special guest: author Tim Smith ( #mystery #romance )

Today we have author Tim Smith visiting. Tim Smith is an award-winning bestselling author whose books range from romantic mystery to contemporary erotic romance. He is also a freelance photographer. When he isn’t pursuing those two passions he can be found in The Florida Keys, doing research in between parasailing and seeking out the perfect Mojito.

So, Tim, what inspired you to become a writer?
* I’ve always had an active imagination and thanks to my mother’s influence, I became an avid reader at an early age. I also became an old movie buff and really liked the film noir crime capers of the 40’s and 50’s. When I began reading the books some of those flicks were based on, by writers like Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett and Jim Thompson, I was hooked on that style of writing and knew I wanted to emulate it.

When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
* I’d been writing short stories since high school but the first full-length story I attempted was written over a dozen years ago, titled Memories Die Last. It was around 60,000 words. It was traditionally published in print in 2002, did very well and won a couple of awards. When the rights reverted back to me I rewrote it cover to cover then released it as an e-book. It became a best seller.
* I’m still amazed that a story I conceived so long ago continues to draw new readers and fans. The sequels to that one did pretty well, too. I suppose if you have a couple of strong characters that people find appealing, they really can live forever

How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
* I got lucky in that my first full-length story found a traditional publisher who was willing to take a chance. A dozen-plus books later, I’m still at it. We won’t bring up the creative writing dreck I first attempted in high school, which was pretty bad. A few years ago I found one of those stories in a box and ceremoniously burned it at midnight, complete with a bugle playing Taps.

What genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What’s your favorite genre of all to write in?
* I write contemporary erotic romance, with an emphasis on romantic mystery/thrillers. I’ve also written a few romantic comedies. The mystery/suspense genre is my favorite because these are the kinds of stories I’m drawn to as a reader. I like taking the classic style of Chandler, Westlake, et al and adapting it to a contemporary setting with plenty of hot sex. I have a lot of fun creating the quirky characters and situations you find in those pulp stories – the tough but tender hero, the femme fatale who may or may not be on the level with him, the shady sub-characters who usually have some type of mayhem in mind, the moody atmosphere and the wisecracking, humorous dialogue. If I could include a cool jazz soundtrack by Henry Mancini, I would. Did I mention the sex?

What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
* The best advice came from an editor I worked with early on. She advised me to include a brief physical description whenever I introduce a character, no matter how small their part may be, so the reader can get a mental image. Since I visualize each character when I write them, that made sense.
* The worst advice came from a friend who suggested – with a straight face—that since I wrote thrillers, I might sell more if I wrote under the name Tim Clancey. I never asked for his opinion again.

How do you celebrate/deal with acceptance/rejection letters?
* Acceptance is usually celebrated with an evening out with someone special. Best sellers and better-than-average royalty checks rate the same treatment.
* I treat rejection as one less “no” I have to hear on the way to a “yes.” With a bazillion-and-one new books released every year, rejection is the natural by-product.

In regard to the book you’re promoting, which actor and actress do you envision playing the roles of your hero and heroine? If there’s a villain or other characters who are pertinent to the story, who would play those parts?
* Nick Seven is a tough character, hard on the outside but with a soft romantic middle he likes to keep hidden. He’s also a grade-A smartass and world-class lover. That’s a tough combination to find today, but I could see George Clooney, Michael Weatherley, Mark Harmon or Brad Pitt doing a decent job.
* As for Felicia, the tough Barbadian beauty who lives with him, I’m holding out for Khandi Alexander, since she was the mental model I used when I created the character.

The book you’re promoting, is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? If it’s part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.
* The stories in both of my series are stand alone entries. I always recap the character’s history while adding a little something new in each installment. You can read the second Nick and Felicia adventure Never Look Back without first reading Memories Die Last and still understand who the characters are and where they came from. The same with my Vic Fallon private eye series – one can easily pick up Lido Key without reading The Bundle and know immediately who this guy is and what makes him run.

*** Now for some fun info… ***
What’s your favorite color?
* Blue. It usually reflects my mood, whether it’s bright sky or deep midnight.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
* Chocolate and peanut butter. Add some whipped cream and a little extra Hershey’s syrup and I’m hooked.

Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?
* I’m definitely a warm and sunny person, which is why I spend so much time in The Florida Keys.

*** About Tim Smith’s book ***

#1 of Six Sentences over six weeks from 'Dirty Little Demons.'

Registering the beat of the music, she stepped in time with it, following his lead, rubbing her body against his in return. The two of them danced close. For a wondrous moment, she forgot about her duties, forgot about the dangerous world outside the theater, forgot the fine hunk of a man, whose hips oscillated against hers, could die in a matter of hours.
“What’s your name?” The question brought a whiff of his scent to her. The something she couldn’t place before was his pheromones.

Genre: Contemporary, Paranormal, Love Story, series  /
Special Paranormal Elements: DemonDevil  /  Three Flame = Bonfire: Very Hot. Sensual. Explicit love/sex scenes using direct language

~ Adult/R EXCERPT ~
“I am just expressing my feelings for you, my dear, like I have before. Remember, it is our destiny to be together. We are meant for each other and no one else. We will be together. Amore mio, let me love you until the end of time.”
Jay leaned back, gazed into Ash’s eyes. Desire and passion smoldered in his stare, combined with an underlying glimmer of hope. Her own yearnings for him boiled within her, stretching and coiling in fiery ribbons through her limbs, enflaming her body. She brought her hands around, cupped his face and placed her lips on his.
Ash swung his arms around her, embracing her in his warm cocoon, sending his tongue into her mouth in response to her advance. The second his tongue touched hers in sweet urgency, the bubbling of heated lust within her turned into a searing need for fulfillment. She threaded her fingers in his hair, deepened the kiss as far as she could go without making it look like she was chewing off his face. Their tongues warred, lapped within each other’s mouths, tasting woody and sweet from the drinks. Her breasts, pressed against his chest, strained against their confines. She wanted to release them, have his hands grasp the sexually stimulated mounds, have his teeth nip at the sensitive tips.
Reading her mind, he slid a hand between their bodies and molded his palm and fingers to her breast. She moaned into his mouth, and he smiled against her lips. His goatee tickled, but she didn’t stop their make-out session. They were too deep into the public display of affection. Jay was too aroused to have their joining end, even if they were making fools of themselves in the middle of the dance floor in front of the other patrons and dancers. She didn’t care. All her thoughts centered on one purpose–getting him into a private area where she could rip off his clothes and get his cock into her. She wanted to be where she could trail her tongue along the edge of his goatee and along the rest of his body, where she could taste every single inch of him in rapturous pleasure.
Ash broke the kiss, trailed his mouth over her cheek to her ear. “What would you say, my dear,” his voice rumbled in a soft, sexy purr, “if I said I would like to take you back to my room?”
“I’d say it’s about fucking time.”

Welcome special guest: author Blak Rayne

Today we have erotic m/m author author, Blak Rayne, visiting. Her bio: I reside North of Sixty, and yes, I am a woman, wife and mother. Ive been writing and drawing since elementary school, and I love anything that involves the arts. As for family, my daughter is my toughest critic and one of my greatest supports, aside from my husband.

* So,
Blak, what inspired you to become a writer?
My greatest inspiration has and always will be, my own imagination.
* When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
It may sound cliché but my writing career began at a very young age, actually in elementary school. I wrote a twenty-seven-chapter novel about an all female rock band–their quick rise to stardom then rapid decent due to drug and alcohol abuse. I received acclaim from my grade seven teacher. Then that same teacher took the story and I never saw it again. After that I was reluctant to share anything with anyone (I was right turned-off). But eventually I did return to creative writing in high school. I wrote several short stories, poetry and so on.
* How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
It depends how you perceive complete. At the time I had close to thirty stories on file–as in, they were written, but nothing was in order, and they needed to be sorted and finalized. I had one story that was finalized, which was the one sold for publication. I know, not very exciting.
* What genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What’s your favorite genre of all to write in?
Currently I’m an erotic m/m author, and this encompasses futuristic/mystery and action. But I’ve also written hetro romance, YA and fantasy. I enjoy each genre for different reasons. Fantasy will probably remain a personal favourite, but I also love the m/m genre. Oh I don’t know! LOL It’s a tie! I write fantasy because I think it’s the greatest form of escapism. And as for the m/m…there’s something about the man on man theme that just grabs me. It’s hard to explain really. All right, that was a lie! I love the homoerotic romance! There. I said it. **grins** I’ve collected Japanese yaoi since Jesus was a baby and this is probably where the fascination stems from.
* What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
The best piece of advice was from a fellow author (now dear friend), who shall remain nameless. LOL Anyway, she told me– ‘You aren’t obligated to answer to anyone, Blak. Do what you feel is right.’ I took what she said to heart and it’s worked–appreciate her wisdom!
The worst piece of advice was from another author, who shall also remain nameless. He said– ‘If you can’t keep it mainstream, don’t bother.’ It’s variety and something out-of-the-ordinary that has proven to have the greatest success. If every single story in the world was exactly the same or written with the same voice wouldn’t it be boring? I think spice sells and you have to be different, stand out–separate yourself from the crowd!

* How do you celebrate/deal with acceptance/rejection letters?
Acceptance is wonderful–of course, but it’s forced me to rethink and strive for greater improvement. I want each future submission to be better than the last. And as for the ‘rejection letter’, I honestly can’t comment because so far I’ve never received one (though I’m sure my day will come).
* In regard to the book you’re promoting, which actor and actress do you envision playing the roles of your hero and heroine? If there’s a villain or other characters who are pertinent to the story, who would play those parts?
When it comes to my m/m novels in particular, I hate to admit, but I don’t envision any specific actor or actress. My brain doesn’t compute that way. Most of my characters are loosely based either on real people I’ve met and/or known on a personal level throughout my life, the rest are completely fictitious. The characters in my current novel ‘Master of Illusion’ are generally fictitious. Sloan Whelan is a man I’ve dreamt would seduce me all my life! LOL And Vale is the type of man who sparks the jealousy in my heart, because he’s the tart that won over Sloan. Amanda is me to a degree–the woman who is envious of Vale. Anyway, I think you get the picture. Yes, I need to get out of the house more. LOL
* Is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? If it’s part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.
I always wanted to pen a story with a bounty hunter as the central character and the idea came from personal experience. Years ago, as a teenager, I became unwittingly involved in a love triangle. My boyfriend at that time, who was living with me, was in love with another woman. After the initial discovery of his infidelity I somehow became stupid, and figured if I begged and hung on he eventually ditch her for me. Well I can say, that was a colossal fail! Believe me, I never begged another man ever again. It’s either me or the highway.  So, I became Amanda, Sloan became my boyfriend and Vale was the other woman. LOL Well kind of…
Master of Illusion is the first volume in my Benevolence series. At this point there are three novels in the series which will be released this coming summer. Sadly, my brain won’t stop, and there could end up being a number of subsequent volumes. This series will be published through eXtasy Books. http://www.extasybooks.comMaster of Illusion is due for release on June 15th.
Master of Destruction is due for release on July 15th.
Master of Salvation is due for release on August 15th.
*** Now for some fun info… ***
* What’s your favorite color?
Actually I have three, sapphire blue (my birthstone), black (long time fav) and deep purple (best sexually stimulating colour in the world). Guess what colour is in my bedroom? LOL
* Are you a cat, dog or both kind of person?
Cats, and the fluffier the better! Love longhaired cats.
* If you could live anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?
A fantasy world, I created within a new series, I aim to have published by next year. And you ask why… Who wouldn’t want to live in a place where they make all the rules! ^_^!!
*** About her book and series… ***
MOI was a bit of difficult ride. As I mentioned, I took the general idea for the book from my own life–that was the easy part. But to build an interesting story with an in-depth plot and make it believable, took some effort. I did a fair amount of research. I also asked those who were knowledgeable on certain subjects to assist with information. For instance, I used Japanese roomaji in the story. Well, I have to thank my daughter for the spelling lessons. She took three years of Japanese in high school and can speak it, as well as read it. Her help was invaluable. Anyway, I hope that my diligence will provide the reader with a book they can’t put down!
‘Master of Illusion’ ~ Book One in the Benevolence Series ~ ‘Caught between innocence and evil, some souls are destined to be entwined.’
Blurb:
Something evil lurks in the streets of Avalon. From the spread of an illicit drug called Ice to the black market slave trade. The year is twenty-three thirty, nearly two decades after WWIV and the world, as we know it, is a very different place. Under rule of one government and a questionable military, no one is safe. Laws are convenient for those who legally prey on the weak.
Forced into slavery, one man seeks freedom. Obligated to his profession, the other seeks justice. Exploitation, human trafficking and drugs–brought together by corruption and fate, a bounty hunter meets a slave and their lives are forever changed.
Excerpt (unedited):
The hunter rippled his hot shaft with gel as Hadrian settled on the floor with his legs spread, eagerly waiting. Then with a palm pressed into the carpet, Sloan leaned over top the blond and positioned himself. He rubbed the head of his cock against Hadrian’s anus. Hadrian blushed with a faint smile at the corner of his mouth. The hunter teased him with a gentle probe, just the head entered, pushing past the rim, and to Hadrian’s delight his anus sucked in every inch. Hadrian grabbed his own legs like he was about to give birth and the hunter’s massive cock slid in deeper, he gasped with his head tilted back. He gawked at the ceiling as the hunter pushed even deeper still, and his mouth quivered. He’d never felt such pleasure and he’d never been with a man so well endowed. Now he knew what Vale felt. Hadrian’s member was erect and seeping, the bell coated with pre-cum. His ass was jolted and he started to pant in time with each thrust. In minutes, he was near to ejaculation. A sweet, in yet fragile smile of lust extenuated his rosy cheeks, and he loudly grunted again and again as his buttocks was pounded with one powerful thrust after another. His balls tightened and he gripped both knees. Then hunter's body came to rest on top of him. Excited, the blond wrapped all four limbs around the big man, their lips met and it was fervent, he moaned using his tongue.
Hadrian needed to familiarize himself with every inch of his new lover and it was his hands that groped in the dark. The hair was all wrong, definitely thick, but too short. Then there was the body size–muscular, but again definitely smaller than the bounty hunter. The discrepancies were blatant. Hadrian had dreamt of what the sex would be like with Sloan and when he opened his eyes to find Michael humping him, his dreams were completely shattered
, he nearly cried. He’d fantasized for weeks, certain that the Irishman was a kitten in private, nothing short of a fantastic lover.
The rush went off like a volcanic eruption from Michael’s dick. His face went red and his pelvis slammed Hadrian, allowing the cum to find a way out. Satisfied, he laughed into the darkness and rolled off the slave in a blinding sweat. A minute or two later he was considerably calmer, the lamp was on and he was seated on the edge of the bed lighting a cigarette.
With a pillow bunched under an armpit, Hadrian stared his lover. The sex had been unfulfilling and hardly sufficient. He was thoroughly disgusted and there were a number of things he wanted to say. But if the older man was pushed too far, the situation could go from nice to ugly in an instant. Sadly, that was the direction their relationship had been heading lately. In the early days, Hadrian had experienced some mild abuse. Michael slapped him around once in a while and yelled a lot, but in the last five years, the abuse had escalated to almost a daily occurrence. In fact, things had gotten so far out-of-hand, Hadrian was forced to lie about everything and even fake arousal when they had sex with the aid of some very expensive pills.
Michael didn’t need to look at Hadrian. He could sense the animosity because the room hung heavy with it. “How was the sex?”
“Good
.” Hadrian made sure to lie.
“Just good…” Michael turned to him. “That’s not a respectable answer, even from you. I would’ve thought it was pretty damned great, considering the noises of praise you made.”
“It’s nothing Michael.” Hadrian rose from the burgundy sheets, exposing his inflamed thighs and an ass streaked with the gloss of seminal fluid. “It’s nothing I wish to discuss, anyway.” Shaking a little, he went to light a cigarette and find a towel. “You’re right, the sex was great.”
“Do I detect a lack of enthusiasm in your voice?”
Hadrian stared at the lighter, debating whether to be honest or not. “No, it was sarcasm.”
The blond bounced off the wall then hit the floor and Michael stood there breathing hard. “Don’t you ever fucking mock me again–ever!”
Hadrian was slow to crawl into a corner. He put a tremulous hand to his aching face and couldn’t seem to help but get a little weepy. His attention was directed towards the closet, he listened to how Michael professed to love him and how he’d provided him with an excellent home all these years and how ungrateful he was. It was an awfully high price to pay, living as the man’s whore and unable to leave, think or breathe on his own. Hadrian sniffed, wiped his upper lip, the blood was dripping from his left nostril like water from a tap and it coated the back of his hand. He looked at it, wondering if the hunter ever hit Vale. It was times like these when he wanted the big man even more.
* * * *
A trail of clothes were left from the apartment door to the master bedroom. Vale and Sloan knelt in front of one another on the bed. Sloan’s thick cock was strained to pink and replete with heat, and he played with it while necking with Vale. Vale blushed closing his eyes as the hunter’s stiff cock rubbed between his thighs and he was caressed everywhere. He took immense pleasure in the osculation. It was the best part of the foreplay and always caused his heart to skip a beat. If he had to compliment the hunter on anything, the man had an unbelievable set of lips.
Sloan embraced Vale, and they toppled into the blankets. The entire bed shifted with a creak and he was lying half on top. “Did you miss me?”
“I always miss you.”
The big man took his time, his thumb felt the length of Vale’s jaw and he passed the slave a thoughtful stare
. “I always miss you too.” Their mouths met, each kiss was slow and tainted with the perfect amount of affection but lingered with carnal desire. Then Sloan ran the tip of his tongue down Vale’s Adams apple to the divot between his collarbones.
* * * *
“So why all the noise? Huh?” Michael crouched in front of him and searched his watery gaze. “Who is he?”
“I don’t know what you mean
.” Hadrian put up both arms as a shield then he was backhanded into the wall. The cigarette snapped in half and the pieces landed in the dense carpet fibres at his bare feet.
“Who were you thinking about!” The anger was prevalent in Michael’s voice then he paused. “No wait…I know who was screwing you
.” He got real close, close enough that Hadrian couldn’t wipe his bloody face. “It was that bastard hunter…wasn’t it?” Michael yanked the blonde’s hair. “Answer me!”
Hadrian’s face creased in agony. “Yes!” he spat. “Yes it was him! Sloan the badass bounty hunter! And he didn’t fuck me Michael, he made love to me–which is something you’ve never done!”
Michael lifted a fist and held it there, a fraction of an inch away, the temptation was great, but when the repercussions came to mind
, he was fast to leave.
Hadrian gradually got up as he got dressed
. “Where are you going?”
“Don’t push your luck.”
“But I want to go out today!” Hadrian implored, wiping his damp cheeks.
“After what you just told me, you can stay in the apartment for another month!” Michael grabbed his coat then leaned towards his swollen face
. “And don’t bother calling that bastard, because if you do, I’ll know!”
“You can’t do this to me!” Hadrian ran after him
. “Michael no! Please Michael. I’ll do whatever you want, but I have to get out of here today!”
Michael tied up his shoelaces
. “Well you should’ve thought about that sooner before pretending I was the hunter! I said no!” He stopped by the door and pried Hadrian’s hands loose. “You’re lucky I don’t kill you. Let go.”
The man was as heartless as any human could be. Hadrian backed off and when the door closed, he collapsed to his knees weeping.

Welcome special guest: author Gabriella Bradley

Today we have author, Gabriella Bradley, visiting. Gabriella lives amidst rugged mountains. She more than often has a grizzly in her backyard searching for food. Other critters that visit on a regular basis are cougars, coyotes, squirrels, raccoons. She has been a writer all of her life, though only ventured into erotic works in 2003. Her hobbies include hiking, gardening, swimming, sewing, embroidery. Favorite movies are old timers like Gone with the Wind, Spartacus etc. Favorite music is Abba.

* So, Gabriella, what inspired you to become a writer?
I've always written stories, ever since I was a little girl and learned how to write. As a toddler, my favorite toys were pens and pencils.
* When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
My first story was a little one. I wrote it when I was six and it was published in a magazine. I haven't got it anymore due to a house fire years ago.
* How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
Dozens. I sold my first book in 1998.
* What genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What’s your favorite genre of all to write in?
My favorite genre would be historical romance, although I haven't written it of late. It takes a lot of research and time is scarce. I write erotic romance--science fiction, fantasy, paranormal, contemporary romance, whatever the muse inspires.
* What is your best-selling title to date?
I would say Savage Lust.
It has outsold anything I've ever written. I wrote that book in a few days and it's never ceased to amaze me how well it did. It is also available at eXtasy Books
http://www.extasybooks.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=ebook_flypage&category_id=16&product_id=6705&Itemid=50 and other retailers.
* What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
LOL in my very early days of submitting to the big guys, about twenty-six years ago, I received a letter filled with advice, one that near brought me to tears. The worst line in that letter was: "I don't know where you learned your English. Go back to school." Since I aced English, spelling, grammar, it was quite the insult. Of course that particular editor wasn't familiar with Aussie spelling and grammar, obviously. I've learned to adapt since then and now write USA style.
* In regard to the book you’re promoting, which actor and actress do you envision playing the roles of your hero and heroine? If there’s a villain or other characters who are pertinent to the story, who would play those parts?
My latest book is The Orgasm Whisperer. I didn't have any actors in mind when writing the story. I believe I only did that once with Law of the Jungle. I based the hero on Sean Connery.
* Is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? If it’s part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.
The Orgasm Whisperer is a stand-alone. An article in a magazine sparked the title and the idea for the story.
*** Now for some fun info… ***
* What’s your favorite color?
Maybe you should be asking which color I dislike the most--it would be green. I love all colors really, except green doesn't suit me.
* What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Pistachio
* Are you a cat, dog or both kind of person?
I'm a both person. I'm an animal lover, except you can keep spiders, snakes and anything that would eat me.
* Would you/have you own(ed) a snake or some other exotic pet?
Nope.
* Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?
I'm a sun child, although I live in a place where winters can be long, cold and rainy.
* Are you a morning person or night owl?
Both. I get up at the crack of dawn and go to bed very late.
* What’s your favorite day of the week?
Sundays
* What’s your favorite number?
Nine
* If you could live anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?
Mm, since we don't know of any habitable planets, I'd say it would still be Earth, but I'd choose Australia. Why? The climate for one, the people are a lot more relaxed, life is more relaxed and it's a beautiful country.
* If you were stranded on a desert island and were only allowed to have five modern conveniences with you, what would they be?
My computer, Internet connection. Can't think of anything else. A few toy boys maybe to wait on me hand and foot and keep my erotic cravings satisfied???

*** About The Orgasm Whisperer… ***
My last release was The Orgasm Whisperer. I'd already started this story, but my editor told me she needed a book and to finish it, so I finished it in a couple of days and brought it to 66200 words. It was meant to be a novella, but once I start writing, it's hard to stop. I did some interesting research while writing the last half of the book causing it to be more than erotic. It contains quite a bit of exotic toy play that I found out about on the web.
It's available at: http://www.extasybooks.com
http://extasybooks.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=ebook_flypage&product_id=9810&category_id=3&manufacturer_id=38&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=50
It's also available at Kindle, ARE, Fictionwise and other outlets.

The Orgasm Whisperer ~ A NOR Top Pick! The Find the review here: http://www.nightowlerotica.com/nor/Reviews/Trish-reviews-The-Orgasm-Whisperer-by-Gabriella-Bradley.aspx

Book Info: Listening to sexual fantasies not her own, Amaia must find her own true mate or be resigned to life as a psycho sex therapist.
WARNING: This book contains menage a quatre scenes and some sexual toy play.
Amaia has inherited the family talent! There is only one way to make it stop--she has to meet her soul mate, bond with him and consummate the relationship. But, how does one find him? Will she be an orgasm whisperer for just a short while or be stuck with it for years?
What's worse, when her mother enlightens her on how to use her gift, she also learns there's alien blood flowing through her veins and she has more abilities that will become apparent. It all seems like a science fiction nightmare, impossible to believe--something her imaginative mother had dreamed up.
When three to die for men enter her life, she feels attraction for all three, and worse, she feels bonded to all three. Is one of these men her soul mate? Will her orgasm whispering be over before it barely started? And how can she choose when her heart and body wants them all?

Welcome special guest: author Jude Mason

Today we have multi-genre author, Jude Mason, visiting. Hi C.R., Thanks so much for having me! I’m thrilled to be here.
A Multi-published, Canadian author, Jude Mason writes in a variety of genres, stretching the boundaries at every opportunity. Her work appears at Total E-Bound, Cleis Press, eXtasy in e-books, print as well as audio. There’s always something new in the works or coming out, so check out her website: http://www.my-haven2001.com/

* When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?
The very first story I remember creating was about a mermaid and a sailor. I was about 4, so the actual writing wasn’t good. Heck, I’m not even sure it got to paper. Length? Well, I managed to talk a few of my little friends into making  a play out of it. I believe the action too about an hour from beginning to end. As for what became of it, I’m not sure. Very possibly one of the parents I forced into sitting and watching the play found it and burned it. LOL
* How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?
Oh my! Thousands! Hundreds at least. I’ve been writing nearly all my life and I wasn’t published until I was in my 40’s. I had no idea I could be published until I found the internet. When I did find the web, I lucked into a small writer’s group where the publisher/owner of Amatory Ink took me under his wing. He asked me to write something for him. I did and he took it. (You could have knocked me over with that feather people talk about)
* What genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What’s your favorite genre of all to write in?
I’ve written in just about every genre there is. The only things I haven’t tackled are yaoi and steampunk.
When I first became serious about being published, I wrote BDSM femdom mostly. Even now, if given my head, I’ll go back to it. I simply find it an easier fit.
My favorite genre!? I adore m/m and write in it a lot right now. Still, that BDSM sneaks in and if I can add a dominant fem in to the story, I’m there.

* What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?
The best advice I can think of is to write what you love and keep doing it.
The worst is to write what you know. I’m a mother, homemaker, wife. Boring stuff here. If I wrote about that, I’d be relegated to the woodshed.

* How do you celebrate/deal with acceptance/rejection letters?
Acceptances are always a big high for me. Even after all this time, I still get chills when I get that email saying, yes. The celebration hasn’t changed much. I love a bubble bath and a glass of something bubbly.
Rejections aren’t so much fun, as you can imagine. I don’t get a lot of them because I mostly target things for certain publishers or anthologies. But, when I get them, I whine…a lot! It doesn’t last, though, and I try to find somewhere to send the rejected ms as soon as possible.

* In regard to the book you’re promoting, which actor and actress do you envision playing the roles of your hero and heroine? If there’s a villain or other characters who are pertinent to the story, who would play those parts?
In Fertile Domain, I’ve got two main fella’s and one very important woman. I’m not big on watching movies, so I’m honestly not up on who’s who or which up and coming has ‘made it’ so this is really a toughie for me.
Jax is young, a warrior with a heart of gold and an equal opportunity lover. He proud and not afraid to show his softer side, but he’s stubborn as a mule about things that are important to him. I see him as a young and taller version of Mel Gibson perhaps.
Trev is the man Jax rescues then falls in love with over the course of the book. Trev is shorter and has a swimmer’s body, with a scar or two from life’s little adventures. He’s a little scruffier and has a wicked sense of humor. I honestly can’t say who I’d want to play him.
The Lady Ebony is tall and her skin is the color of honey. She’s got long black hair and her curves are a little too curvy to be fashionable, by today’s standards. She’s also a bit of a princess, but in the story it works. She knows what she wants and gets it, or else. I could see someone like Angelina Jolie playing her.
* Is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? If it’s part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.
Fertile Domain is a stand alone, right now-although, I could see myself continuing the story somehow. I love the harsh landscape of the book and while these characters have told their story, there are many others in the city, or surrounds, that might like to speak up.
*** Now for some fun info… ***
* What’s your favorite color?
Purple, always has been and it goes with nothing in my life, but I don’t care. LOL
* Are you a cat, dog or both kind of person?
I’m a huge cat person. I’ve had cats all my life and miss having one around right now. My last cat, Tequila, used to sit beside me or lay across my desk while I wrote. Very relaxing for me. When I first got her, she was 3 weeks old and the lady at the SPCA said she wasn’t sure she’d make it. She was too young to eat without help. I fed her by dripping milk off the tip of my finger for the first while. She’d ride around in the pocket of my sweater all day. Sigh.
* Would you/have you own(ed) a snake or some other exotic pet?
Well, this is a toughie. At the moment, I have no animals you could actually call pets, but I do have animals who come to visit. We live in a pretty rural area with miles of wilderness around. Our winters can get very hard. A few years ago, we had deer coming in who were suffering badly from the weather. I asked our local game department if it would be okay for me to feed them. I got permission. Well, those deer did well and they brought their young. That was the start of it. We now feed both deer and raccoons during the winter and try to keep them from eating the flowers all spring and summer. Those are my pets, sort of.
*** About Fertile Domain… ***

Welcome special guest: author Mark Alders

Today we have m/m romance author, Mark Alders, visiting. As Mark says, "I live in a house. This house has a street in front of it which is a good thing because if it didn't I wouldn't be able to drive down to the shop and purchase the chocolate I need on a daily basis *giggle* Seriously, I am a mild mannered post office worker by day and an erotic romance writer (mainly male/male) at night. Not much else to say other than, like everyone else, I have bills to pay, a mortgage and family that I love and drive me crazy all at the same time. Oh, and I have a dog, too! See? Average Joe...except when I get down and write...then I let my imagination go to places I never knew existed and my characters invade my mind."

* When did you attempt your first story? What length was it? What's become of it?

My first story was written in 1847…lol (seriously I think it was an eternity ago) It was a Lord of the Rings rip-off. Pretty much word for word, except I changed characters names. Frodo became Eric…Gandalf became Morgan etc, etc. I still have it and give myself the shudders every time I attempt to read it. It's good for the ego to see how far I have come to look at it. Phew, glad I am no longer writing like that! Lordy! It was about seven million words in length, too! Just to prove that I can write crap in large quantities. It now sits on the bottom of my book case, stopping it from tipping over by adding weight to the bottom because the rest of it is crammed with books and stuff…and more books…and more books.

* How many stories did you complete before you sold your first?

Oh dear Lord! How long is a stick? Well, I think I wrote for years and years, having limited success in small online publications, but other than that, nothing happened until late 2009 when eXtasy took my first book and gave it a home.

* What genre(s) do you write in? What drew you to write in it/them? What's your favorite genre of all to write in?

I write in sci-fi and fantasy genres with a m/m erotica flavor. What drew me to them? Well, who wouldn't like to read about hot men in outer space! Tell me.

* What are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you ever received?

Keep writing…worst advice, keep writing…seriously I have a love/hate relationship with my muse. She wants me to write when I don't and vice-versa! The bitch!

* How do you celebrate/deal with acceptance/rejection letters?

I always celebrate an acceptance with some chocolate and champagne, never worry about a rejection.

* In regard to the book you're promoting, which actor and actress do you envision playing the roles of your hero and heroine? If there's a villain or other characters who are pertinent to the story, who would play those parts?

I don't really watch much TV or movies, so it's hard to say. I don't really have movie stars in my head when thinking of characters. My characters are more like parts or me mixed in with people I know in real life. Far more interesting.

* Is it a stand-alone story or part of a series? What sparked the idea for the story/series? If it's part of a series, please list the order the books need to be read in for maximum reading enjoyment.

The current book I am promoting is The Soldier. It is part two of a three part series about a human who becomes a nourisher to an alien spider. What sparked the idea? My complete and utter fear of spiders. I hate them with a passion and turn into a big girl whenever one is in the room. Seriously, have you seen a grown man scream? Put a spider in the room with me and wait two seconds!

*** Now for some fun info… ***
* What's your favorite color?

Green

* What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

All ice cream. Any flavor. Any time. Anywhere!

* Are you a cat, dog or both kind of person?

Dog. Definitely a dog! Love my little doggie, coco!

* Would you/have you own(ed) a snake or some other exotic pet?

No effing way to a snake, mouse, rat, spider, whatever. I will stick to a dog. At least I can admire an animal who can lick his own balls.

* Which do you prefer: rain or sun & warm weather or cold weather?

I am a cold weather person. I like to snuggle by the fire and read :)

* Are you a morning person or night owl?

Night owl. Get me up before 7.00am and I am a grumbly bumbly bear!

* What's your favorite day of the week?

Friday. Always nice to have the weekend to look forward to.

* What's your favorite number?

14 (my birthday number)

* If you could live anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?

On Uranus…LOL Only joking…I would love to SEE the planets, but I think where I am is just fine. Right amount of oxygen and all…

* If you were stranded on a desert island and were only allowed to have five modern conveniences with you, what would they be?

Computer, Wi-fi, running water, hot water, toilet.

Here is the blurb:
Drake Glauco, now a successful nourisher and happily joined to Vernon, comes to realise it's time for a Priaxian/human alliance to come to fruition. The joy he had experienced too great for it to not be used to benefit mankind. The mutual need too important. With each passing day, Drake and Vernon's symbiotic relationship grows just as much as the hatchlings inside the egg the Priaxian carries as the hope of his species.
But trouble stirs in the dark places of the galaxy. A once sleeping giant, an enigmatic race known as the Herdsmen, stirs. Their awakening brought about by many events, including trespassing into their territory. The result of them becoming known is devastating for all the sentient species, especially for humans. The Herdsmen have developed a taste for mankind's flesh.
Can Drake and Vernon negotiate an agreement with the Herdsmen before it's too late? Offer some alternative to the slaughter that will result if they enter human space. Or will their plans to dominate the galaxy obliterate all in their path, including their allies?
All hope once more falls on Drake...and a mysterious Priaxian soldier who communicates to him in his dreams.
